General Chat / Thule XT

Does anyone own the Thule easyfold XT ebike platform rack. I saw mostly good reviews, but a few seriously bad reviews where people lost their bikes off the back of their suv. Any experience would be appreciated.

Thank you

Well, I was thinking more about Karens Concerned Citizens carrying pitchforks and torches complaining to their local authorities about "all those motorcycles tearing along on our peaceful walking trails" and demanding that all ebikes be banned.

I'm not at all saying you should take the headlight off (because it does look cool and practical). You have every right to accessorize how you like, but the ill-informed won't know the difference.

See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rmu3XUrFrE4 (8 min 36 sec) for the kind of moral panic I'm thinking of.

...  You're correct in that the charger does not balance cells, but the BMS balances if needed when at the float voltage and charge current is small. If you shut the charger off early rather than lower the float voltage, current remains high and balancing does not take place.
That sounds very likely.

Did you find that graph somewhere, or is it from your own set of measurements?

How To Information / Re: Rapid charge Rad External Battery Pack, using Luna Charger @3A?
« Last post by DickB on February 28, 2024, 05:35:34 AM »
Chargers are Constant Current / Constant Voltage, meaning that they limit current at the start of the charge (while voltage increases), then limit the voltage (while current decreases) to what is called the float voltage. If you set the Luna charger to 80% it simply lowers the final float voltage.  You're correct in that the charger does not balance cells, but the BMS balances if needed when at the float voltage and charge current is small. If you shut the charger off early rather than lower the float voltage, current remains high and balancing does not take place.

Let them scrutinize, its UK road legal so I don't mind chatting to a cop if they are bored enough to stop me, they won't find anything wrong, another good reason I didn't have the controller upgrade :)

How does your smartphone screen look through your sunglasses?
It is fine in portrait orientation. Almost completely bluish-black in landscape.

[edit]
One thing that does please me is about the LCD Display is that I think that bumping up the speed limit beyond 32 kph in the Sekrit Setup Menu may actually have had an effect. I got up to about 38-39 kph with throttle-only, but I never found a completely level stretch of road to properly try it out.

do you use lots of throttle?
is it difficult to remove the battery?

if yes to first question then yes to the second, it may mean that the wiring may have melted.
report back and I can let you know what happened to me and how i corrected it.
