Upgrade mechanical brakes?

My OEM Tektro Aries calipers are less than stellar. I've had them unexpectedly go out of adjustment often -  and a couple of occasions they both went out at the same time. (I had to "Flintstone" it to stop on city streets.)
The cable isn't slipping, and all ferrules are in the correct spot.
I've given up on them, I'm hoping for a recommendation for an upgraded mechanical for the front and rear.
