I own a Rad Mission1, not the Rad City 5  but I've run in to the same problem. In my case it was the connector near the handlebars that has a silver grippy ring on it that came loose. Others have reported the same problem. In 500+ miles I've had to tighten it once or twice.

I really want to upgrade from the RAD stock tensioner on my Mission1. My original tensioner failed after 500 miles, the part is not good quality. I brought my bike to my LBS and they found a good tensioner (SURLY SINGLEATOR) that they would mount to the rear hub but they could not find a hanger plate that would fit the Mission. You mentioned using one from a TREK 7100. Any ideas of where I could source a tensioner that would fit without modification? The opening needs to be 12mm?

Please let us know what they ship you. If it's the same exact part I'm concerned it will fail again. I tried to take out the pin using the proper hex key and I started to strip the head no matter how careful I was. That pin is made of VERY soft metal, not good. Also I noticed every other component on the bike seems to be a standard name brand part except the tensioner.

I don't believe you're going to find a 1 1/4" hitch rack that can carry (2) 75 lb bikes or even (1) for that matter. You would have to go to a 2" receiver. Also, racks have a per bike weight limit and a total weight limit that needs to be considered.

I got a Radmission a few weeks ago -120 miles so far Just recently, sporadically all the pedal assist lights will simultaneously start blinking on the controller. The lights will blink for a minute or two and then go back to normal. When they are blinking the pedal assist and the throttle all work as normal.  Searching the RAD website, they refer to this as a communication error and outline many long steps to try and fix it. The problem I'm having is that the problem is so intermittent that troubleshooting is near impossible.

Has anyone else had this problem? What was your fix?

That's very concerning. I have a Radmission and was thinking of getting the RAD fenders. Do you know what failed? What exactly happened?

My bike with Battery was shipped from RAD via FedEx ground, so FedEx will ship batteries, they just need to be properly labeled. I believe the same goes for the other carriers.

I bought a Cateye Velo 7 @ $28 for my Radmission. I spend too much time looking at my phone so I like keeping that tucked way and focusing on my ride. I'm vey happy with the Cateye.

I like your way of thinking, I love finding ways to multitask items I own, this is a natural fit. Where I live in NewEngland my bike will be stored away each winter, November - March, 5 months. It would be great to use the RAD battery as a power Backup in case of an outage over the winter. In addition I'd like the ability to cycle the battery occasionally. RAD really should have included USB output on the battery case.

Please let us know if you find out why one of your batteries would not work with the inverter!

Just a thought: If you are interested in a little business venture, There are a few sellers on ETSY selling 3D printed covers for the RAD battery and battery mount terminals as well as thumb levers for the throttle. I'm guessing you could sell quite a few of the battery connector you fabricated.

I Bought a Rad Mission a few weeks ago. The single Speed is a trade off. On one hand you get simplicity and less equipment that needs to be adjusted and less weight. The downside is when pedaling on a steep incline you will have to put a considerable pressure on your knees and the drivetrain and use full throttle. On moderate inclines it's not a problem. On declines or when going over 18 MPH your pedal cadence will be faster than desired with the single speed.

Something to consider: Will you be biking on lots off hills or mostly flat terrain?

If you want a very similar bike with 7 speeds, I would look a the Ariel Rideal.
