I have side pockets on my shorts that zip.  That's where I keep my phone and wallet.
thanks! It may come to that then...! I have a phone holder that goes on the handlebar...maybe I'll look at under seat bags...Or Just keep them in my panniers...not a big issue

Finding an electric bike at 40 pounds is probably not possible.  The battery alone will be at least 6 pounds.  I do like the orange.  I saw the photos on their website.  I does look like a different stem and the bars are flat and do not sway towards the body.  I would expect it to be an uncomfortable ride for many people.  My left hand will go numb on my Rad Rover 5 often.  I could change the stem but I decided when my battery needed replacing I would swap to a different bike.  I have ordered Wired Bike.....the orange one.  Has lots of power and a bigger battery.  The larger battery was the biggest seller for me.

Good luck getting your new ride.
thanks...I found a nice deal on used Radcity 5 plus ST and I went for it..heavy for sure but I have a garage and I don't take public buses! I'll use my regular bike for short rides to the store. It has 1500km on it. But it's in perfect shape. Cost me 55% of what a new Tiger Orange Radcity would have cost me...so...black is the new orange I say! LOL...

I just got one -the Stepthru model and I like it a lot. I'll get a water bottle holder for Radbikes from amazon but I also would like some sort of small bag for wallet/keys etc that I can hang from the handle bar or the stem post? My previous bike had a top tube so I had a small bag attached there...any ideas? a small bag will do...thanks

I saw an ARE13 video on YouTube where the fellow used a BLANK (uncut) key and it worked. Of course I can't find it now but try this: https://youtu.be/BdsGaFB2rcc?t=36

That only works on the previous generation(s) batteries that sit on top completely exposed.  The semi-integrated batteries of the City 5 Plus are a totally different design and if they had any brains at all they didn't re-use the same lock mechanism that can be unlocked by a blank key.

I only carry a blank for my MiniST2, by the way, just to prove it works when warning other Rad owners about how ridiculously-easy it is to steal the battery and/or the entire bike unless the frame is locked up at minimum.

Here's my solution to the battery-theft problem, but would need to be adapted to different frames; the idea is to prevent sliding the battery up to remove it even if unlocked from the bike:

thanks for looking into this. I decided NOT to buy this bike. Don't need the hassle...I will wait a bit and get a used one. I only bike 15kms a day maybe 3 times a week so I don't need it urgently but will get one. I just wish it was under 40lbs and a bit cheaper! LOL..asking for too much I know...thanks for your research...interesting ideas.

Hard to say.  It is probably the same stem holding the handle bars.  Is it a straight handle bar or does it have curve?  Does the bars curve back to the seat or just dip in the center?

If it is just a straight but wider handle bar and they are using the same stem. then it may actually cause more body lean.

You can buy a new stem that will allow you to raise the handle bar.  These are readily available and easy to install.

Good Luck
hi there. The pics of the website seem to show a lower handlebar but I can't see if it has the same curve as the current one. I'm sure it's just a simple refresher to the Radcity 5 line. Still out of my budget brand new. They don't go for sale in the used market often here in Canada. I will wait for a review next month or so. The Orange is for sure much more visible than the black model. If a bike could be made to weigh under 40lbs (just to have the public bus option available in case is needed) then I would be so crazy about buying one right away. Thanks
Thanks

RadCity / RadCity 5 Plus Tiger Orange
August 12, 2023, 10:51:16 PM
Hey...I Know this Limited edition is not out yet..besides the orange colour, the description reads "with wider handlebars for tighter turns"...does this mean a less upright riding position than with the "older" Radcity 5 plus? I tried a Radcity 5 plus and I found the handlebar a bit narrow. The ride was nice but i felt a bit "constricted" and I'm only 5'7". I almost got a used one but this upcoming release sounds interesting. Pricey (for me anyway)..opinions? I will wait for a bit before buying...thanks

hi there. I read this before but I'm not clear...are the Rad bikes considered Power-assist bikes? if so this applies:
"Multi-use trails, paths and parks
Motorized vehicles (including power-assisted E-bikes) may not be used on park multi-use paths. If a motorized vehicle is used on a park path, the rider/driver may be fined $305.00 by bylaw enforcement officers. The Waterfront Multi-use path, Don Valley and Humber Multi-use paths, are all considered parklands. The West Toronto Railpath and Hydro corridor trails are considered linear parks.
Toronto Ferries

Only bicycles or pedal-assisted bicycles (pedelecs only) with a wheel diameter of 26″ or larger are allowed on the ferries to the Toronto Islands."

so this is what is not clear to me...are you in Toronto? You own this bike correct?
thanks

hi there. Totally new to ebikes. I'm deciding between a Rad City and a Rad Rover. For now I have a regular bike and I enjoy it for my commute to work (7km) and for some bike paths in the city of Toronto. I use mostly bike lanes on the streets of Toronto, Canada or bike paths. I'm considering getting a City 5 plus or a RadRover 6 plus for a little help if needed (I'm in my late 50s). I still want some exercise so assist level 1 might be enough for me. Is setting 0 (meaning no motor) make it too hard to pedal? I still want to feel that I could use this as regular bike. But I must ask, will I be legally allowed to ride this ebike Radrover (not at full speed-maybe level 1) on bike paths? Or are Ebikes banned from all bike paths In TORONTO? I tried understanding the rules at the City of Toronto website but I can't be sure I understand them. if there are any local riders. I depend on these trails to get to work etc. Much safer than the street. I don' t do off road much at all. Hoping to get some first hand experience from local rad owners. Are the 4 inch wide tires on the Rover a plus or a minus for my purposes? Thanks!
