General Chat / Re: 2020 Picture Thread

Good starter thread, Ryan. I know this will take off when things loosen up. In fact I think there will be an explosion in travel and vacation like never before.  I will be posting my pics when I am able to leave the bunker and enjoy life again.

Arm alarm, remove battery, two locks. If we are remote like shopping and going to be more than 20 minutes or so we just lock, arm , and throw the rain cover over them too.   I also have an Internet router on mine so I can send a text alarm. I use Blynk.

I just picked up the cargo rack from Harbor Freight to stick on my RV. Holds 500#.

https://www.harborfreight.com/500-lb-capacity-deluxe-cargo-carrier-66983.html

Needs mods to hold the bikes upright but at $60  I can do this. Will hold our kayaks too.

More later

Very clean. Too bad the bags will hide them.

Rad racks are beefy.  Can't go wrong.

General Chat / Re: Hitch Mount Rack Advise Needed

That's good advise. I'm going to try a cargo basket: https://amzn.to/3b7RcUh. I have used the cheap steel one before from Walmart and it did well. Will need some uprights fashioned to keep the bikes in place. A narrow load ramp might help protect the bottom. We'll see.  Might be able to stand the kayaks up, too.

I am looking at the Kuat Racks Sherpa 2.0 for my Wagon and Rover. They list bike rack capacity at 40# for each bike.  Is there anything out there that is proven or do I need to look for motorcycle racks?

General Chat / Re: RadWagon with Kids

I used a trailer for years in the city and on vacation but I had more than one child. They can hold lots of cargo too and that's important if you are out all day. I also used a standard back rack child seat ( pre-ebike) for a few summers and felt safe with that.  Of course, I was on;y pleasure riding streets and sidewalks.  I was never comfortable seeing people with the side saddle seat mounted on the top tube.  At least the seat on back had a shell around it and the child wears a helmet.  I did have the trailer roll over once but  the seating area is tucked low between the wheels. Kids were fine.

I believe you instinctually become a highly defensive, cautious driver when you load the kids on board.  With that you will be fine with the choice you make.

This is a Walmart motorcycle cover I just received. Fits the whole wagon and snaps underneath. $22 delivered.

Thank you. I ordered a pair and used the promo code. Ingenious. I used to rotate my cow horn up before flipping. I won't have to do that anymore. I have a nice service stand at home but often I like to flip it over, grab a stool and get in close. In the field, even better.

I think the corner stretchy band grips are essential.

General Chat / Bike Laws
January 20, 2020, 11:30:25 AM
We travel a lot from Florida to Texas.  I've seen more and more cities adding bike lanes and parkways for pedestrians and bikes. I was thinking these places would acquiesce to pedal assist as a welcome part of biking and commuting. In San Antonio for instance, the River Walk which extends for miles does not allow motorized bikes but they don't enforce it. Mostly, Texas is an ebike friendly state.  In my home state of MO the law is pretty clear, a motor pretty much makes it an unlicensed motorcycle and we have many trails including the KATY state park.   Not sure of the date on this report.     Bike Laws by State
