My avatar disappeared, but it seems that all you have to do is resize it for a maximum of 65x65 pixels.

No problem. I developed my troubleshooting process working (most recently) on 250 kiloWatt shortwave transmitters. Lotsa moving parts and high voltages there. Now that I'm retired it's difficult not to speculate what might be wrong with something.

Now it's pretending that my last post is "Rad's New Lineup Is Here".
If I try to delete it, my actual last post gets deleted.
Also, if I click at the "quote" button on the "Rad's New Lineup Is Here" post, then the quote is from my actual previous post. Rather disorienting.

Uh-oh. Photos in old posts return a "file not found" message.
For example - https://www.radowners.com/index.php/topic,9719.msg24710.html#msg24710

Also getting this red fault message in the editor, even if there aren't supposed to be any attachments (like in this post).
QuoteThe message has the following error or errors that must be corrected before continuing:
There was a problem and your attachments could not be uploaded
The attachments directory can not be located. Please notify an administrator of this problem.

On the other hand, we can now give temperatures because the degrees ยบ symbol works. Yay!

What's the story on that arch thing over the canal, from 02:15 to 02:18?

Does the forward end just float there? It should be easy to fabricate a brace to the down tube.

Quote from: Jack D on April 10, 2024, 05:01:41 PM... Weird thing I did notice: The throttle and PAS both work as expected when the front brake connector is disconnected.  As soon as I reconnect the front brake connector - the intermittent issue begins again.

Oh, wait - that's the wrong side from the throttle for my theory to work.  :-[
Still, it wouldn't hurt to make the adjustments and be sure.

I would focus on the brake handle switch before shelling out for a new controller, especially if the misbehaviour only happens when operating the throttle. It suggests a mechanical issue to me, and the throttle is in the same vicinity as the brake handle. Maybe something is bumping into something else.

There is a procedure for adjusting the cut-off switches in the brake handles, but I cannot find it at the moment.

Just because a thing is called something, there's no need to be stuck with using it only for that, right?

General Chat / Re: Support Wheels
April 01, 2024, 03:05:09 PM
I dunno about that. You have to be able to lean into a turn, and a training wheel sort of thing would prevent that, since it could lift the other rear wheels off the road. You could slow right down every time so as not to have to lean as much, but then you lose momentum. E-bike with cadence sensor are already tricky enough to make slow tight turns on. A trike would be better, and training wheels do not make it like a trike.

Perhaps a sidecar ($$$$) or trailer ($) would be better for hauling the kids with a RadWagon.

You said "recently gifted" - it may just take a bit more practise getting used to it. Try practising with sandbags on the back or something.

Are you able to lower the seat enough to reach the road with both feet at the same time?

Is it a RadWagon 4 or RadWagon 5? The wheels on the RW5 are 2" smaller.

Do you mean new features of future new models, or new add-ons for existing models?

... My fix has been when it happens, I pedal backwards a couple revolutions and then forward again and it takes right off. ...
That would make me suspect an issue with the cadence sensor, or the magnet ring.
Are (or were, since your post is almost a year old) you able to use the throttle before the fix?
#43
(Almost a year old, but what the heck.)

... Sporadically I will lose power while riding. I learned to fix it by resetting my PAS to "0" then it will regain power. This works every time. Its like I'm rebooting it. ...
So, the display and headlight stays on, and it just loses power to the motor?
Any difference for pedal assist versus throttle?

General Chat / Re: RAD CITY 5+ HANDLEBARS
March 23, 2024, 10:49:47 PM
I don't think Rad sells handlebars separately, at least not by looking at their site. I suppose a third-party handlebar should be fine as long as the diameters (clamp, grips) are the same.

Is your RadCity 5+ the orange "special edition" model? If so, you can't adjust the riser angle if you needed to.
