you should probably check the serial number on some of the stolen bike sites like Bike Index or Project 529 - if a bike is sold without a battery, it's not unreasonable to suspect the bike might have been stolen.

i haven't settled on my second battery yet, but leaning towards this Super Shark or this mini shark, but man, i hate how expensive batteries are...
If it were me I would go with a 20 to 24 amp battery. That is where you will increase your range without being too large a battery. Amazon has them.

It lets you connect both batteries and drains them both at the same time. It's not where it uses one fully and then switches to the other. It uses the both until they are both used up.

You don't have to have RAD batteries because RAD didn't make the batteries. They very similar to the Shark batteries if not a Shark battery. The main thing you need to take into consideration is who makes the battery cells. Stay with high quality cells like LG, Panasonic, and Samsung. And if you are using batteries as you posted they do need to be the same 48v.
Take a look at the following video if you want more power and speed.

I have this on my Rad Rover 5 and on my Lectric Trike. It works great. I have 4 Rad batteries and 1 Lectric battery and I can put two of those at a time on either of my bikes.

curious as to where you live - many cities require kids to wear helmets on bikes, even if they don't require adults to do the same.
Alpharetta Georgia.

similarly, i went with this - https://www.juicedbikes.com/products/juiced-bikes-horn it's loud, and every time my wife bumps the bike in the garage, it goes off and she curses at it.

I live in Port Aransas, Texas.
I've created an electric power bike for the beach / from a stock 2023 radrover 6 plus stepthru.
I've removed all the stock 'pedal power' components & installed MC style footpegs w/ a thumb throttle.
It's for sliding back & forth down the beach / flat track style @ 25mph.
I'd like to add a center mount kick stand for better stability when loading/unloading my gear.
Any recommendations?

I called my USAA insurance agent when I purchased my two Radrover ebikes back in 2016. The USAA agent said my ebikes are covered under my homeowner's policy. They considered my ebike like a regular pedal bike because it doesn't require registration like other types of motorized vehicles. My homeowner's also covers my ebikes instead of my USAA auto policy if I'm driving out of state with my ebikes. I called because the wife and I decided to take our ebikes to Grand Canyon and Sedona, AZ, from New Mexico back then.
It is just a quick phone call to your agent to find out for sure if you are automatically covered, if you need to purchase additional coverage, any limitations, or provide additional documentation at claim time. I haven't double-check since then to find out if USAA had a change in their policy coverage.

In your circumstance, parked outside a restaurant on a busy road, an alarm like this might have been a deterrent:
https://amzn.to/3RnqRXC
I was pleasantly surprised to find that it's much better made than you'd think for the price, and after two years on the bike it's still doing fine. I have it strapped under the rear basket just above the rear fender, where it's invisible to potential thieves. Great range on the remote and is quite sensitive - nobody moves my bike even a little bit without first a warning blurt, then an ear-splitting siren if they're dumb enough to proceed. It's also possible to manually blurt it with the remote if you have eyes-on and don't want people too close. You can adjust the volume, sensitivity and the type of alarm sound, as I recall.
The only downside is that the batteries in the alarm itself only last one riding season. They're easy and cheap to replace in the spring, but I have to cut and then reinstall zipties - not a huge deal. The remote takes a bit of getting used to, as you arm/disarm with two separate buttons.
I use this alarm in addition to my Abus folding and/or U-lock when parking it out of my sight. Recommended, even if belatedly in your case.
