General Chat / Battery Removal on RAD Rover
April 24, 2021, 08:19:34 PM

I am always having a considerably difficult time removing my battery from my Rover 5. I have owned the bike for eight months have 1,400 miles on it and every single time I remove the battery it is a huge struggle. And I do mean huge. Today, I smashed my arm on the cross bar, thereby protecting the battery no doubt by my arm is now dark purple.

Is there some trick I am missing? I am now thinking of just greasing the entire rail and on the outside of the connectors because this is driving me nuts.

Any hints?

Rad Modifications / New Pedals
January 18, 2021, 05:40:09 PM

For Xmas I received a set of Shimano pedals and given our 70 degree weather all this week I decided to put them on.  The pedals are about the same size in terms of length and width as the stock pedals but it's the spikes that are a bit higher that really keep your shoe in the pedals.  The height of the spikes are adjustable to your liking and you can mix and match as you might want.  A series of provided washers allows you tailor the height.  In the package was also about a dozen extra spikes, I suppose in case they wear out.... not likely in my view unless they get damaged somehow.  The construction appears to be more robust than stock. They say, Chromoly Steel.

I got them at https://www.universalcycles.com/shopping/product_details.php?id=90916

Shipment was rapid with excellent communication..... and I would highly recommend them.

General Chat / Rover Performance Headlight
December 21, 2020, 02:18:34 PM

Just received the upgraded front headlight for the Rover5.  Took a good long while for it to be in stock but RAD notified me that they had them so here it is.

Let me first start out by saying I am not a night time rider. I purchased this for the increased daytime visibility it produces and for the twilight times when I don't get home before dark.

First off, it is considerably larger than stock. Super easy to install and I left the included grid protector on. Visibility wise I would say it is twice as large as stock and the light has a nice halo glow to it.  Fit and finish is excellent and it is stamped RAD power bikes on the rear.  The mount is also much better than stock.
