Title: Radmini 4 bike lock help
Post by: wkwan on August 01, 2020, 11:10:57 AM
Hi Everyone!

I received my radmini 4 a week ago after waiting a couple of months for it.

Fortunately, I am able to leave it inside my workplace during work hours.  However, I'm wondering what lock(s) would be best to use for a radmini considering the tires are fat (ie. u-locks, chains, folding locks).

I usually head straight home after work but before the radmini I would need to stop by the groceries for last minute items or go get a haircut.  So in those scenarios I would need to leave my rad for an hour or less.

:)

I would recommend the folding lock that they have on the rad site. It has one of the highest security ratings and can mount right on the bike for easy transportation.

Assuming you got insurance, which I highly recommend as these are not cheap and are a magnet for theft, the insurance company will most likely require a lock with a certain rating.

The only issue is they are out of stock everywhere. There is a better price on amazon but it's from England and won't be in stock until end of August.

Depends a little bit on the area you live in. For us, we don't have to worry as much about theft. I like the Abus folding lock with the alarm. It attaches nicely to the frame and I never worry about our bikes: https://ebikeescape.com/abus-bordo-big-6000-alarm-review/

However, you could always buy a lock and a separate alarm which can certainly save you some money. As 1Eye mentioned, insurance is a good option as well and Velosurance is a popular choice. Also check with your homeowners insurance if applicable.
