Title: Introduce yourself!
Post by: Ryan on November 28, 2018, 08:18:56 AM
Hi all!

I am the proud owner of a 2018 Rad Wagon. It has been our favorite purchase ever and we put on 1800 miles in our first summer in Wisconsin. It's been a real joy to replace many of our in town car trips.

I've been amazed by the community around Rad Power Bikes and wanted to do my part in both furthering the community and the adoption of ebikes in general. I've been involved in running websites in the past and it is something I enjoy doing. I saw an opportunity for a forum dedicated to Rad Power Bikes which led to the creation of Rad Owners. I hope you find the forum beneficial and I want to thank those who take the time to share their knowledge with others. Rad on!  8)

Feel free to introduce yourself below!

Thanks for joining us from the UK! My girlfriend took a vacation to North Wales a couple of years ago and absolutely loved it - did lots of hiking. You live in a beautiful place.

Great to have an early adopter here! Have to admit that I had to look up where Bucharest was.

Awesome! Please feel free to ask any questions you have. If I can't answer them I'm sure someone here will chime in :)

Very cool! I think if we were to buy another one we'd go with the Mini so we can take it on road trips.

Hi, my name is Clive from Langley, BC Canada
I’m a very old (64) and not too fit, wannabe cyclist (?) Recovering from a shoulder injury.
I have a 2018 City which I purchased in June 2018 and I think it has about 38 Km’s on it so far.
Have lots of good intentions but I’m also somewhat nervous riding. Hopefully we will have a good winter and I can still get to ride. Looking forward to this forum being successful. Cheers everyone

Hi, I'm Ryan and live in Washington State south of Seattle and have a 2018 Rover.  I'm in the beginning of absolutely loving this after finding Rad in Long Beach, WA and riding it down the beach with pure unfiltered joy.  I live in a rainy place with not many places to ride immediately around me but have spent my first 50 miles in the city just riding around in neighborhoods and enjoying being outside.  I almost bought a mini on Monday, but after putting it into my cart multiple times I figured I'd better just get a lot of use out of my Rover first.  Just not easy to get around everywhere and not feeling the $400 bike stand after I bought a different one before I got my Rover.  Hoping for some clear weather this weekend to do some riding!

Moved back to the island of O'ahu in 2015 with my family after being gone for 30 years to help care for my aging father-in-law. I'm fortunate that my workplace is only 8 miles away, and between Honolulu's traffic gridlock and being a 1-car family I started commuting to work on a Trek FX 7.2 "fitness" bike. Did that for almost 3 years and decided I couldn't take another summer of pedaling in the heat and humidity without assistance. This body isn't getting younger either.

This past July, I decided to pull the trigger on a 2018 RadRover after having the opportunity to test ride one at RPB's Seattle store during a business trip. Changed out the stock Kendas for a pair of road friendly Origin8 Supercell tires and am loving the ride to and from work. There may be better choices for a daily commuter, but when you've got to ride on a seriously deteriorating infrastructure like Honolulu's you need a bike that can take what the crappy roads throw at it and the RadRover fits the bill.

Starting to see a few ebikes here and there during my commute, but I think there's less than a half-dozen Rad Owners here. Hopefully, I can meet them all through this new forum.  :D

Aloha! I've heard good things about the Origin8 Supercell tires. I am compiling a lost of recommended improvements so I will definitely add this to the list. How did you get your bike to O'ahu? If memory serves Rad Power Bikes doesn't ship to Hawaii.

Thanks for the kind words. The weight and speed is definitely intimidating at first.

The Supercells have been great thus far. Easy to mount and very quiet.

RPB does ship to Hawaii but they only use UPS Air at a stinging rate of $400 for door-to-door service. Voltbike on the other hand only charges $169 (usual fee of $49 + $120 surcharge for HI) and they ship by ocean freight and then the Buyer picks it up from the freight terminal. I know of at least 2 other RadRover owners and 1 RadWagon owner on O'ahu. There are a couple of shops that sell ebikes, but you can't pick up anything new for less than $2400.

Hi everyone, I'm Ron and I am in Norfolk, Virginia. I am the proud owner of a 2018 Radrover (I posted a pic in the "Pride and Joy" section, btw). I got her late in 2018 (September) so the weather has not been on my side but I have managed to put 815 miles on it and looking forward to more rides now that the weather is improving.

We've had a handful of new members in the past couple of weeks so thank you to everyone who has joined. My goal with the forum is to help others find information about Rad Power Bikes and connect with others. I invite you to introduce yourself in this thread and maybe even share a picture.

As a reminder one of the best ways I think to use the forum is through the mobile app called Tapatalk. If you search for Rad Owners you'll be able to find it and login. It's a great way to interact on a mobile device and is a much easier way of sharing pictures.

Welcome again to everyone!

Thank you for the add, new to the world of electric bikes and still educating myself prior to my purchase. Considering the Radmini. My legs are a bit to short for the Rover to be safe and comfortable getting on and off.

Welcome! I am totally bias but Rad Power Bikes strike the perfect balance between cost and still getting a decent bike. We absolutely love our Rad Wagon (2200 miles+) and I hope to eventually get a Mini or Rover sometime after we have a child. Only maintenance I've had to do is tighten spokes and replace the rear brake pads. Let me know if you have any questions, I too did a bunch of research before purchasing.

Hi, new member from Skagit Valley, WA.  I’m in my late 60s and my wife and I are thoroughly enjoying our matching 2019 City step-throughs.  We’ve been out of the cycling scene for a long time, and since retiring we tried getting back into it.  Unfortunately, there’s a steep up-hill section to get back to our house and it sucked all of the fun out of the ride to struggle with that last stretch.  That is, until we got the Rad bikes.

We’ve been hitting the local streets and designated bike trails in order to get comfortable before venturing out into traffic, but we look forward to many trips. We intend to take these with us camping in our small RV so we can explore different areas without needing to tow our car.

Thanks for this forum; I hope it becomes a vibrant community of like-minded people.  I’m also in the FB Rad group, but there’s no comparison to the benefits one gets from a well-run forum.

Awesome! It is so great to hear stories of people getting outside with the help of electric bikes. Taking them with a camper sounds like a fun adventure, would be great to see some pictures of your setup with the camper. Thanks for joining the forum.

Hello
I’m in Kent WA. I’ve been riding Maple valley single track. Also Palouse to Cascade rail to trail. It’s about 40 miles from rattlesnake ridge to the snoqualmie train tunnel and back.
I like these renthal bars and Chester pedals. (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190718/cd195981bc0fa46ed3c1df6b4f0d5bcc.jpg)

I went with these Spyke disc brakes, the stock ones were pretty annoying to adjust properly.
I wish I could find a decent fork that didn’t cost $500:(

Just got my new Rad City last week and I'm loving it.  I've always liked to cycle but as I am approaching my 7th decade, it's sure nice to have some power assist on those hills!  I'm very impressed with the quality of this bike, especially at this price!  I have been hiking a lot for the past few years and wound up putting my old bike aside.  But I found I really missed cycling.  I live where there are A LOT of hills so it was hard for me to just take off from home.  I usually had to load up my bike and drive somewhere, which gets real old, real fast.  So, today I did 15 miles around where I live, hills and all!  I am now looking forward to cycling for a LONG time! :)

I'm American but living in Wicklow, Ireland and bought a Radwagon recently. We've been a one-car family for about four years and the Radwagon is to replace car trips and to give me more range on the weekend excursions when my wife tends to have the car.

I was worried that the Radwagon's long tail would not fit in the train racks here, but was able to wrestle it in. This is important as it allows me to take the bike on long trips to different parts of Ireland, as well as to the UK via the ferry.

For longer trips I will probably invest in a second battery - I did about 50 hilly km this weekend before I was down to one bar, but would have liked to have gone further.

I have a set of Willex panniers from Belgium (33 litres each) which I use for shopping.

I use a Clug to store the bike vertically at home.

I really like the included Dutch-style frame lock which comes with the European models. Much easier to quickly lock the wheel when going into shops.

This is how I wanted my rover. I am riding trails much more than streets. Mix of cosmetic and functional changes.
Chain guard delete
Brake light delete
Orange decals delete
Carbon seat post
Renthal bars
I swapped out the leather saddle for a wtb.
Upgrade rear brake
Tire reflector black out
Chester pedals
Shimano bar end caps
Specialized head set cap
Lizard skins
Set computer to top out at 24mph
Seems like we might want to consider a “what did you do with your rad bike today” type of forum space.

Hi, I am in Green Bay, WI

I have been taking my bike to work for a couple of years, weather permitting, usually two or three days a week. I regular rode anytime the temps were above freezing (and a few below freezing). My trip is only about 2 miles (3.2km) one way, slightly downhill to work. If I push it really hard I can make the trip in 8 minutes, but then I am hot and sweaty, ok on the way home, but not so much going to work. Usually I am just about 12 minutes one way. This sort of rules out running home for lunch on a 30 minute break. I was riding a Giant Escape, a mountain bike style, but with skinny road tires and higher gearing.

I bought a Rad City and took it to work, amazing, I did the trip in pedal assist 3 and it took 5 minutes, it was almost scary, but I am sure I will get used to it quickly.  I did bump up the max speed to the limit.

I have even ridden home in some drizzle, let me tell you disk brakes and fenders are SO worth it.

So far so good.

Greetings all - I'm Kevin, living in sunny Orlando, Florida and bought a 2019 Rad Rover in September of this year.  Love it!  Ride some of the trails here in town, and try to make it out to as many Critical Mass events each month as I can.  Glad to find this forum and look forward to sharing and learning with the rest of the owners here.

Hello All, my name is Mike and I just bought my 2019 Rad Rover on a Black Friday sale.  It's my first eBike.  I live in Santa Clarita, CA.  I'm 53, 6'1" and about 240 lbs fully dressed.  This eBike gets me up the hills by my house pretty good.  However my trip today kicked my butt.  See it here if you're interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wAk_oYdcDIc

I'm looking forward to many more rides with my Rad Rover.  I appreciate all the tips and tricks from you seasoned Rad Owners.  8)  I purchased at least 3 items off Amazon based on recommendations here.

Hi!

I'm Carsten from Germany. Just got a RadWagon as a Christmas present. Well, in fact, Santa Claus got the "new bike" wish from myself and passed it on to me. Nice, that Rad Power Bike has a European distribution center in the Netherlands, and some of their models are sold here with an EU Declaration of Conformity. And they have very competitive prices compared to German or Dutch cargo ebike manufacturers!

We as a family want to get a smaller CO2 footprint and let the car stay at home for our grocery shopping, at least occasionally. We are living in a small village, supermarkets are 11 km away (7 mi), smaller market stores can be found in a 4 km distance (2,5 mi). Should be fun with the RadWagon!

Assembling was done last weekend, did some riding already. First 5 km were great! Maximum speed 38 km/h. 3.7 km in 7 min. I love it!

Edit Added some pics via Tapatalk app. Hope it works...

Welcome to the forum Cartsten! I don't think I've heard from someone who has purchased a Rad Power Bike that lives in Germany. Good to hear that they are also competitively priced not just in the US but across Europe as well. It sounds like Germany must not have the 250 watt motor restrictions that we've seen elsewhere. You'll love the Wagon for grocery shopping. Looking forward to seeing some pictures.

Just got 2, rad city and step through for Christmas, so far wife and I love them, however, the LCD display does not seem to show battery use.  Rode today and when removed the battery and checked the gauge on the battery is showed one red bar which I expected but When the battery was on the bike the LCD display showed all 5 black bars.  This was true for both bikes?

How far was the ride? You might be surprised how long the batteries last especially if you're pedaling a lot. I never look at the indicator lights on the battery.

Hi Ryan!

With > 250 W (allowed up to 1000 W) you need a liability insurance for small motorized vehicles (like mopeds). The RadWagon falls into a new legal class of electrically powered small vehicles, called L1e-a (<= 25 km/h). L1e-b is up to 45 km/h. The insurance is shown with a number plate you get from the insurance company. Unlike motorbikes or cars, there is no need for a registration. The ebikes with <= 250 W are just bicyles, legally: No vehicle insurance, no Registration. These are a lot more popular in Germany: No act of bureaucracy whatsoever.

There is at least one more RadWagon owner in Germany who lives in Göttigen, and offers test rides with his own bike. That's what I've done first. Tried his bike. And fell in love immediately...

Hi, we’ve ordered a rover and a rover step-thru.
Excited!
I’m 5’3” and they say the height minimum is 5’4” but I measured where my current bike seat sits and it seems fine.

Any thoughts anyone?

I think you'll likely be fine as long as you're a bit agile though the step-thru will probably be easier. Let us know how it fits when it arrives! Thanks for joining the forum as well.

Hello, from Edmonds, WA; I'm Greg and the owner of a Rad Mini Step-thru that serves to make biking around here (quite hilly), a very pleasant experience!
Our daughter and grand-daughter live near Oley, PA, so we have a Mini to enjoy while we are there visiting them......although my wife has a difficult time
with it compared to the Step-thru.  The challenges of getting old!
My next priority is to equip both with handlebar mirrors.

Hello: I'm Roy and I have a Mini 4 which was delivered on Tuesday, March 10. Today, Wednesday, March 18 it has 54 miles on it. It came with a damaged (in shipping) handlebar stem/tube for which Rad has already sent a replacement. I am able to ride it but can't get the handlebars to fold down without a pry bar. I will probably be installing the new stem/tube tomorrow. Other than that, I'm extremely pleased with the Rad Mini. More Later.

Hi I live in Seattle bought a RadRunner to do a 14 miles commute. It's doable and I enjoyed my time on the saddle. That said climbing hills weren't that easy and got smoked by any bikes that have more than one speed. Still I love my RadRunner and look forward to future mods and improvements.

Awesome! Welcome to the forum. What pedal assist do you find yourself using up the hills? I like the simplicity of the single speed but we have some pretty big hills by us and it's nice having the gears.

Hello, I live in Sacramento,CA, USA. I've been riding bicycles for 74 years and motorcycles for about 61 years, I thought I needed to combine the two so I can carry my photography equipment farther and easier. With Trump's stimulus I bought a Rad Runner last month. It has been very enjoyable. The forum has helped me a lot already. A week after I bought the Runner we had the "Pink" full moon, so I guess I'll name it the Moonshine Runner. I'm trying to attach a picture of the Runner with the rising moon.

Thank you Ryan for the forum.

Newbie Bill here. Bought 2 Rad Minis last Fall. Happy with my choice of ebikes for our needs. ( I'm thrifty ) Bought at the Black Friday month long pricing & had them shipped to Oregon for tax savings. At 63 I felt comfortable riding on fresh powder snow as long as there wasn't ice below the surface. Look forward to snow biking more & hope to find a quality ski for the front forks / some day!  Borrowing & renting sucked us in quickly to buying. Plan to #RideRad lots on our RV  ( Rpod ) adventures.
Thanks.

Welcome Bill! Good to hear that the Mini tires work well on fresh snow. I was pretty amazed how the RadRover handled hard packed snow as well as some icy spots.

Pedal assist 2 is my choice to keep the exercise level. I find level one assist being too weak to go over simple slope and level three too much for most things except step hill. Be curious with how the RadRunner Plus will do, probably more versatile with the 7 speed and front shock.

Hi everyone. My name is Jim, I'm retired (70 years old), and live in Columbus, Ohio. I just got my Radmini 4, and took it out for a first ride today. We did 10 miles, and it was WONDERFUL. I previously owned a Rover, but it was destroyed in a road accident. The mini is much better for my 5'6" frame, and much more nimble. I am looking forward to getting up to Michigan on vacation, and running "seasonal" roads, 2-tracks, and forest trails.

Hi. I’m Brent from Port Williams Nova Scotia.  My wife and I are awaiting our new 2020 Rad bikes. ( Rad Rover for me and a mini for her).  We are retired and just moved to Annapolis Valley and looking forward to exploring the countryside and trails.

Welcome Brent, thanks for joining us! Let me know if you have any questions about your Rad after you get them. You're going to love them!

Welcome Jerry! Hope it doesn't take too long to get your Rover. So many of the ebike brands are all in the same boat with limited bikes in stock. Enjoy!

Good Morning from St.Louis, Missouri.
Just purchased two Rad City Bikes, one step through in white for Debbie and a black Rad City for me. Shipping and set up will be my responsibility.
Any hints or advice for an easy set up procedure?
Thanks a lot, Geno

Welcome and congrats! The videos by Rad Power Bikes are extremely helpful, just pause as needed as you go along. It's not too hard at all. I also highly recommend reading the user manual front to back. There is some valuable information in there.

Tom here from the Toledo Ohio area. Like Gene, just purchased a Rad City step thru (White) for the Girl Friend and a Rad City 4 for me. Been riding the step thru for a couple of weeks and really enjoy it! My bike should be here Tuesday. It will be fun to ride together. We're in our early 60's and wanted to be able to enjoy some of the awesome bike trails in the area while getting some exercise. So far so good.

Eric here from Utah.  Radrunner is on it's way, should be here Wednesday.  Got the green, thinking about going with a semi military look (green bags & such) but would like to add some orange to help it pop with the orange that is already there.

Hi!  I just received my green Rad Runner after a week of delays from FedEx.  Took my first ride and I love it!!  Bought the center console, but don't care for it so much and will return.  What are smallish alternatives for storage?

Congrats! What don't you like about the center console? That might help to figure out what other storage options might be good. For us we just bought this alternative phone bag for our RadWagon (not positive if the geometry of the Runner would be problematic): https://amzn.to/2YEZEVl (https://amzn.to/2YEZEVl) It actually provides a decent amount of space for some small items. Otherwise for the rear rack look at panniers. I know some people like the offerings from Roswheel and they make some green ones that might look cool with the green RadRunner: https://amzn.to/35Ln5hD (https://amzn.to/35Ln5hD) Otherwise you might want to look at options that would mount in front of the handlebars.

Hope this helps, let me know if you have any further questions.

New owner of Rover 5 from the beautiful Annapolis Valley in Nova Scotia.  In fact my wife and I each got Rad bikes last week ( hers is a mini step thru).  Wondering if anyone has access to touch up paint?  Her bike came with some minor damage to the paint, both white and black parts.

Hi Ryan,

The center console is too big.  One of the reasons for purchasing the Runner was the step-thru feature. Not possible to do with the console installed.  I really want something smallish.  The panniers look big.  Maybe not tho.  Also need some mirrors.

The style of bike mirror you'll want to get for the RadRunner is this type: https://amzn.to/2Wa3R1Z (https://amzn.to/2Wa3R1Z) (Note the one I commonly recommend, the Mirrycle will not work due to the inside of the handlebars). As far as panniers you should look at the dimensions as they come in varying sizes. The Fremont panniers that Rad sells fit well on the bikes with the rear racks but are actually small on the Wagon. See this video here if you're curious: https://youtu.be/uCXP1Y4pd4Q (https://youtu.be/uCXP1Y4pd4Q). Either way just look at the dimensions and see if you can find something smaller if that's what you're looking for.

Well, I am from Atlanta, Georgia. I have a 2019 RadWagon bright orange in color. It is not my first Ebike, the previous one was never that good from a now out of business company in New York.

I am 59, like to travel when I can and will use the RadWagon when camping. Because of the way my rig is set up, the RadWagon will be transported on the front end of the Wrangler that I use to tow the trailer. I have ordered a Curt Front mount (use 31432 Model for the Wrangler) where it will ride on the bike carrier I bought from RAD.

I will do some riding this coming weekend, to get to know it and to break it in.

Since I live on the East Coast there are no established assembly companies that could be sought out by the firm used by RAD. So I ended up finally locating an independent shop that did an excellent job. He was very detailed, and even put grease on all the screws and then trued the rims and adjusted the brakes so there was no rubbing.

Once I get eh mount on the Jeep, I'll take a picture of the Radwagon to show what it looks like while in the travel position.

Hi. Jim here from southeast Michigan. I just got a Rad City step through and am really enjoying it. I’ve had an e bike from another maker for a year or so and while I liked it ok I decided to step up a bit. I’m 73 and recently began feeling my age. I cannot swing my legs over a bike seat as well as I once could and decided a step through would be a better fit. I’m glad I did. The Rad City is very easy to mount and dismount. The weather hasn’t been very cooperative since it came but I have had a chance to put about 100 miles on it. The roads and bike paths here are kind of rough so I opted for the suspension seat post. Between that and the suspension front forks the ride is pretty smooth.

Hi I'm Matt I ordered a radrover a couple weeks ago and I am hoping to get it in June. I used to do a whole lot of mountain biking but stopped mostly due to my hand getting numb and my neck hurting. I don't think it is carpal tunnel but I have come to the conclusion it is due to poor fit of the bike. Anyway there are tons of trails near my house and I am hoping to explore these with my new bike next month.
I think the rad community is awesome and is one of the reasons I went with Rad...

Hello All. I am Jim from Columbus, Ohio. As a 70-year-old, I really appreciate the pedal assist of e-bikes, and have two (1 Trek, 1 Radmini4). I have had the Radmini for 2 weeks noqw, and have put 120 miles on it. I LOVE the bike. So far it's been MOSTLY on bike paths and streets, with a few short trials off-road. During the summer we vacation in upper Michigan, where I will get to do some SERIOUS trail riding, and I cannot wait!

What I have done with the bike is replace the seat with a Selle SMP, and add reflective tape to cover the orange (sorry, Rad, but I HATE orange). I added an after-market rack on the rear, and am awaiting a Rockbros bar bag, and 2 Mirrycle mirrors. I also received the Suntour seat post with the bike delivery, and highly recommend that.

Happy Trails!

Hi, all, my name's Teri and I'm in South Jersey (right across from Phila). I just ordered a RadCity Step-Thru, which won't get here till late June, apparently. I'm in my early 60s, in good health but terrible shape in terms of exercise. Working from home hasn't been much of a change for me--I've worked remotely for over 8 years--but I at least used to enjoy getting out to travel and go to shows/concerts. I'm now finding myself pretty much glued to the sofa and need some exercise (and fun!).

I used to enjoy biking in my youth but it's probably been 30-35 years since I've ridden, and the terrain around here is hillier than I'd be inclined to struggle with. I just sort of stumbled on a video for the Rad Power Bikes, and after researching it, finally decided to go for it. There are some great places to ride around here--especially if I don't have to sweat the hills.

My brain sort of glazes over when I read about all the technical stuff, so there will be a bit of a learning curve there. I'm glad to find this forum where I can ask questions. I already got a quote from a local bike shop for assembly ($150), so I've got that covered. I ordered a few accessories and those are already shipped. I guess one thing we are all learning from the current experience is patience (hopefully!), so I'll just have to live vicariously through you nice people while I wait for my new toy.

Welcome Teri! Good for you taking the initiative to get back on a bike. In my experience one of the great things about an ebike is there is never an excuse not to go. If needed you could always just throttle the entire way but inevitably when you get out there you pedal at least a little. Glad to hear a local bike shop is able to help you out.

Oh I should probably introduce myself here, shouldn't I? I'm Rowan, I'm 35 years old, I live in Lyons, PA, and I have a 2019 (or maybe 2020?) RadWagon. I use it mostly just for fun right now, but once I have some storage on-board I'll be trying to use it for grocery runs and the like.

I've only put about 20 miles on it so far, but hopefully I'll be doing more with it soon. Lyons is a tiny town, so to get anything done I have to travel to the adjoining town of Kutztown (about a 3 mile trip). I'm severely out of shape, so having an e-bike is a great stepping stone toward being healthy, and being active. I used to ride a bike everywhere when I was a child, so I'm familiar with the process, but I've found even with that background I've forgotten much about how to ride. I have a partially paralyzed right hand from a stroke, which makes operating the rear brakes, throttle, and shifter tricky, but I make do.

Welcome Rowan! The RadWagon is a fantastic grocery getter. Be sure to share your storage solution. We currently use backpacks/messenger bags attached to each side of the running boards and then a milk crate when needed. It doesn't look pretty, but it works. Good for you taking the initiative to be more active.

I ended up ordering the Roswheel 3-in-1 pannier that you have posted elsewhere on the forums, I liked the functionality of the center bag detaching and turning into a shoulder bag. I also ordered a new helmet, one that should actually fit on my head and attach under my chin, the Mongoose helmet I got previously runs out of strap length before I can fasten it. Helmets aren't required for bikes in PA but I figure if I'm going 20mph on two wheels, I'm clumsy enough that I should probably protect my head. My next additions will likely be a mirror and maybe a phone cradle, but let's wait until my bank account settles from these purchases first.

Great, hopefully those will work out for you Rowan. I highly recommend the Mirrycle bike mirror and I actually made some adjustments today to my accessories list for the phone mounts. Here is a link to everything once you've saved up: https://ebikeescape.com/electric-bike-accessories/ (https://ebikeescape.com/electric-bike-accessories/)

In my opinion a bike mirror is almost a necessity from a safety perspective. I used to think they were silly but they really do make a difference.

Hey all,

I'm Chris, from London in the UK. Hope you're all well. Just took receipt of a Radrunner a couple of weeks ago and am loving it. I know that the motor is capped at 250W, but for flat roads of London i'm loving it! Waiting for Rad to have more of the fenders and baskets in stock, as well as the premium light.

Always keen to personalise and customise. A Bolton controller down the road might be something that i go for, although i'm finding the control panel (although basic) very easy to use while cycling to reluctant to do so. Just got some Hafney mirrors and looking at my options for indicator / turn lights.

Also on the list is a new more comfortable saddle, although i think that means i also need to get a new seatpost as well? Given that the Radrunner doesn't have any suspension, i don't know if a suspension seatpost would be an ok compromise.

Cheers,

Chris

Hi, very happy to have found the forum. I bought a Rad City for the wife (who loves it) and am waiting now for delivery of my own Rad City in June. I also like the reg capability of the Rad City.
I live in Bellingham WA and these bikes are great for the hilly terrain. I've counted 15 so far, so it's clear these are great bikes for the money.
Looking forward to the great tips and information shared by the members

Welcome Bob and Chris! Thanks for joining.

Chris - keep in mind you will lose out on the seat being flush with the rear passenger seat. Also with a suspension seatpost the minimum height of the seat will also increase. Not a deal breaker for most but just something to keep in mind. Most people I have seen who have upgraded to a suspension seatpost find it to be a great upgrade. I will be sharing my thoughts in a video once I get to test it out. Our RadWagon doesn't have suspension either so I imagine the improvements will be similar.

Hello all, John from West Virginia.  Just purchased a Rad City for me and a Rad City step-thru for my wife. Hope to be enjoying them soon and to take them camping with the river trails here in WV.

Hello All,
Larry here. I am from SW Ohio area and ordered a Rad Rover on May 21st. When I ordered it said June shipping date but the next day showed July, I sure hope I get it in June.

After I ordered I drove over to Indianapolis area and rented one for an hour. EZBike rentals was great and very much enjoyed the ride and rental. I went about 15 miles (1 hour) on the Pennsy and Buck Trail and only used about 1 bar. Jim was super nice and helpful.

I can't wait for mine to get here.  ;D

Welcome John and Larry!

John - would love to see some pictures of taking them on the road.

Larry - That's great you were able to try one out at a rental place. I think that is going to become a more prevalent way of making an ebike purchasing decision. Hope it arrives soon!

Hey Guys!

My name is Jennica have I've had the RadRunner Plus in my cart for some days now since I am so indecisive on what ebike to actually purchase! I am hoping to gain a bit more knowledge on which RadRunner to purchase in this forum and then hopefully learn, share and contribute to the community!

I bought a regular bike just to get out of the house because of the pandemic, and although I am pretty young, the steep bay area hills got me! It left my experience displeasure-able so that is why I sought after ebikes. I am debating between the 1) RRPlus because of all the added accessories and power, 2) the Radrunner 1 for its affordability or 3) the Radcity Step through for its compact-ability. I tried scouring through people's feedback and the overall consensus is that you all loved your bikes despite the model which does not help me at all haha!

Excited to purchase soon so I can experience it in the nice weather we are having lately.  ;D

Hi Jennica, welcome to the forum! Just to clarify the RadRunner 1 and the RadRunner Plus have the same motor. Besides the accessories, between those two the biggest factor is whether you need the additional gears. Compared to the RadCity you're looking at a completely different riding style. The RadCity is going to feel more like a regular bike and the Runner is scooter style (though you can lift the seat). The RadRunner motor has twice the torque as the RadCity though that hasn't prevented us from tackling the biggest of hills with our RadWagon which also has the same motor as the RadCity. Hopefully this helps a little bit - let us know if you have any other questions. There are pros and cons to each, it ultimately is going to depend on your riding preference and the features you want out of your ebike.

Hi to the forum I am Mic owner of a Rad Rhino since just before Christmas. Living on an Island off the North West Coast of Donegal Ireland. Having clocked up 1600km I have just renewed the rear tyre and changed the pads on the brakes. I would be interested to know is this about standard?

Hey fellow Radians,
So today my wife and I ordered our Rad Power Ebikes.  She's going with the Radrunner plus and I am going with the Rad Rover Step Thru 1 in black (because black makes me look thinner).  Looks like delivery will be July for mine and August for hers.  More later.

Welcome Mic. Can't comment as much on the tires but brakes is probably about right. We got a little more use out of ours with our Wagon and it seems like the second set is holding up even better. Curious what kind of riding you're doing that the tread wore down that fast. Maybe that's normal for fat bike tires. Any specific brand you purchased as replacements?

Thanks for the reply. Lots of hills on the Island and off road through bog land and gravel roads plus a fair bit of beach riding have all contributed to the experience.  I replaced with Kenda Juggernaut same as was on. Incidentally the brake pads would probably have lasted another 500km

Wow! Thanks Ryan! You are super knowledgeable on the bikes. I appreciate you taking the time to break it down. I have been thinking about it more and feel that the Radmini ST would be best since I am pretty vertically challenged but would also like to use the bike on all different kinds of terrain (mostly street though). I am a bit worried on the weight though. Its a mini and it folds but it does not mean its light. Still debating!  :o

What seemed like the longest wait ever, I finally have my RadRunner!

I ordered the RadRunner May 20th received it June 8th I am in Toronto, Ontario Canada it took pretty much the estimated time given to me 2 to 3 weeks. So far it is running great.

I am making the transition from e-scooter to a class 2 e-bike for a lighter bike and also the ability to pedal. So far loving the pedal-assist.

The only complaint so far is the seat I know many have complained and it truly is the most uncomfortable seat I have only taken it on very short rides and can't believe how bad it is, looking to replace asap.

Welcome David! Awesome that you're using it for commuting. That was our use case and justification when we first purchased our RadWagon. Now that we have over 3,000 miles on it (and many used to replace car trips) I believe the bike has paid for itself.

@Explorabook - Congrats on the RadRunner - that's actually a quicker turnaround than I would have thought given the pandemic. I've heard similar comments about the seat. If you get a Cloud-9 (or something similar) and a suspension seatpost it will be a game changer.

Hi folks, Haven't been on a bike for years but I'm pretty fit so I ordered a RadMini 4 on June 8th so I don't expect it to arrive here in Ontario any time soon..... I don't know why, but with this purchase I am like a little boy at Christmas. It just goes to show that you are never too old to enjoy life ( I am 80 years young). So far I have bought a motion alarm, a mirror, a helmet, rear rack, Topeak bag, Extra rear light, Upgrade colour display and 35a controller, orange spoke thingies, GPS holder, GoPro holder to go on my helmet, Mini pump, clear goggles, Cloud nine saddle, Suntour seat post. I just need to get an extension cord for my rear Rad light and I'm all set..... All I'm missing is the bike lol. Stay safe my friends and remember, if an old fart like me weighing 135lbs can lift a 75 lb e-bike into the back of a Mazda3 sport ..... Then you youngsters can do anything!

Hello fellow Rad owners!
Just sayin Hello, I'm 66 year old Male, 5'11, 225lbs and purchased 2 Rad Rovers for me and my spouse. Wife has been Roving for Months, since May. I've been out for a few rides and enjoy the bike. I've adding accessories  by reading posts, checkin Ryans' U tube's, thank u all! I'm still working out the fit, seat height, trying to get a decent pedal extension and be able to mount the bike. most of the trails are gravel and paved but there is some road work where I live to get around. Both of us love the bikes, no problems with shipping, receiving assembly. I'm enjoying being able to travel longer distances and have the going home gear when I get exhausted.  :)https://www.radowners.com/Smileys/default/smiley.gif

Brittany - would love to hear more about the RadRunner Plus as folks are just starting to receive the bike now.

Dan - Customer support continues to be one of the main reasons I recommend Rad. Hopefully more companies scale up in the coming years, but it's still hard to know who will be around for the long haul. I am pretty confident Rad will be.

Hi Ryan,

Nothing but positive things to say about my bike so far. Like many others, I chose Rad for my first ebike after doing some research, and was sold on their bikes and customer support. My RadRunner Plus has lived up to the expectations and was well worth the wait.  My initial observations are, first, the bike itself is beautiful; it definitely turns heads and it’s easy to see why. The suspension and drivetrain were definitely worthwhile upgrades for me also. I look forward to exploring them in various scenarios—but so far, I think it’s worth the price for how I want to ride the bike. I imagine I’ll explore some accessory options (i.e. baskets or center console, mirrors, etc.), but I’m still loving the bike regardless. I’m sure you’ll see an updated photo in the pride and joy section later this year.

Thanks for the forum and ebikeescape content!

Jeff here. I live on the Eastside of Seattle and just received my Rad City Step-thru 3 on Tuesday. So far, so good, and happy to support a local company (yeah, I know the bikes come from China). I just wish the accessories were more available.

It wasn't great on the gravel pipeline trail near me, but not a big concern. I can zip around my neighborhood in record time and get up the hills easily enough.

I think my wife needs one now. ;D

Hey All,

I'm new to the forum and just bought a practically new RadWagon 4 in Los Angeles. The first owner bought the bike for his wife and waited months for it to arrive.... which it did just 10 days ago. But she doesn't know how to ride a bicycle and found she wasn't comfortable on the RadWagon 4. She thought it was too big.

So I just bought it and I'm totally digging it. It was 10 days old and had 41 miles on the odo. I just rode it home today and it has 50 something miles now. I see the manual says to do the first service between 50-100 miles so it looks like it is now due for service.

I'm currently checking out the forum and clicking some of your amazon links Ryan. I'm going to get the Pro Tool Bike pump with gauge you linked and recommend. I think the tires might be low and this pump with gauge looks like exactly what I need. When I tried checking the tires with my motorcycle tire gauge it read 10 psi. And the manual says they need to be 50 psi. I do believe the tires feel low but when I feel them by hand they feel full. So I was surprised by this 10 psi reading. So I'm definitely going to get this pump with gauge - since I need a pump anyhow. I'm hoping all will be clear and psi correct once the pump arrives.  And I'm picking up some Finish line dry chain lube too.

I'm also currently looking into after market seats for comfort. Or aftermarket suspension seat posts. Not only is the SR Suntour SP12 NCX SeatPost currently SOLD OUT....but it is also NOT compatible with the RadWagon 4 so if anyone has suggestions I'm all ears.

I'll post some pictures and make/share a video soon. I normally ride motorcycles and scooters so this is my first Ebike. Besides the small ebike I bought and rode in China when I spent some time there. I think that little ebike had a top speed of 11mph and it was a hoot! I giggled with delight as I rode that ebike in China.

I'm happy to join this forum community and learn more about these bikes. I'd like to learn to do my own maintenance on it too. I might benefit from having a professional do the first service to check out the bike though. Can anybody recommend a good bike shop that works on Rad Power bikes in Los Angeles?

Also, I just ordered the large platform accessory from the Rad Power Bikes website. I plan to attach my pet carrier to ride around with our Chihuahuas, Lulu and Gizmo. Or maybe just Gizmo. We'll see if Lulu likes it or not. She doesn't seem to like my motorcycles as much as Gizmo does. I'll make a video once I get the platform rack in the mail. For now, you can see Gizmo & Lulu riding around on motorcycles with me on my youtube channel:VROOM GOPAM

For now, you can see Gizmo & Lulu riding around on motorcycles with me on my youtube channel:VROOM GOPAM

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xu5EDCcmdRk&list=PLaVlnHMBusut9qCWx3PDqKW8AmVMcU8Ds

Thanks for joining! Just make sure you get a full size pump, otherwise you are going to be pumping for quite some time! I'll have a RadWagon 4 accessories video out in the next few days and might have some more ideas for you. Thanks for using the Amazon links to support the forum and my channel. I believe one suspension seatpost might work with the RadWagon 4, but the problem is you're likely going to use some adjustability depending on your height. More on that in the video. Hope you got a nice deal on the RW 4 and your dog is awesome in that video  8)

Gary here from Idyllwild California, in the mountains so hills and snow.  I ordered two Rad's, a mini step through and a rover, the mini has been here a couple weeks and is fun but really it is for my 12 year old...  The Rover is coming Tuesday!  I am looking forward to riding with her.

I wish I had the step through to go with my regular Radmini! I have a 9 year old who likes to ride, but I don't think she could handle the mini step through, as she's all legs and weighs about 50 pounds, lol.

Hi,

Just purchased a RadRover 5 this morning.  Site says November - hope that is true.

It is my first E-bike and at 72 I am sure I will enjoy the extra help with riding.
I have ridden motorcycles in the past and that brings up a question.
A friend let me ride his E-Bike and I was hooked immediately.  The only thing that seemed strange was that the front brake was controlled by the right hand lever.  This seems backwards to what I remember from my motorcycling days.
I live in the US and will ride seasonally in TN and FL.

Thanks to the forum organizers for providing what I know will be a great site to ask and answer questions.

Russ - your friend's ebike sounds like it was set up incorrectly. Your Rad will be correct  ;D

Ryan,

Thanks!   I watched the great assembly video and it confirmed what you said.  My friend offered to sell his bike to me, but I am glad I did not go that route.   The video showed how the RadRover bike is packaged, and it looks really good.  Just hope it has a safe trip to Tennessee.

So over the summer we bought a City 3 Step Thru for my wife. She's a teacher, school's not far (four miles), and with our younger son now working four days a week, we figured this would be a way to avoid having to buy a third car.

Well we got more than we bargained for because the thing was just simply FUN. Not just a bike, but a completely solid vehicle that had me reminiscing a bit about my motorcycling days. (No, this isn't a KZ 750. But wind in your face is still wind in your face.) The bike is perfect for her commute, for quick trips to the store or just tooling around. Fitted out with a pair of collapsing pannier baskets, it carries all she needs. 20 mph top speed is plenty for what she wants to do and, living in flat south Florida, the battery bars stay lit a long time.

I took the bike out a few times just to ride around. What a blast.

So, yesterday, my City 3 Step Thru arrived. Having it assembled now. (I could have assembled my wife's biked when it arrived, but by the time I bought a torque wrench -- one tool I don't have -- I'd have spent more than the great local bike shop charged her. He did a great job and I figure in these times, it's good to give folks work. (And I still don't have a torque wrench.))

Our plan is to take the bikes to Key West, Mount Dora, Jupiter, Naples and other spots for weekend getaways. We're moderately athletic, but at 60 we've got nothing to prove and the comfort and ease provided by that throttle makes for a really relaxing tour.

Sorting out now the best way to transport the bikes in the F150 for these weekend jaunts. I'll be interested to see what this forum has to offer.

I have 150, I have some ramps I figured that would be the easy way to go I have a rover and mini step through.  I have ramp ends that attach to planks, I figure I will walk up one while throttling the bike up the other.

So I was overthinking this.

Bought a cheap ramp from Harbor Freight. Mounted the flange upside down to create a channel ramp. Got a step stool to make it easy.

I get in the bed, bride uses walk mode to drive the bikes up into my hands. Turn wheel 90 degrees. Lean bike against side rail, protected by split pool noodles. Pse tailgate.

Ramp has to be carried propped on tailgate, no biggee. Locks into bed with BackFlip bed cover down.

Will try post pics.

Well cannot quite figure out how to post a photo here. Hope my description was clear.

Here's a link to the ramp. Only need one and, as I said, I attached the flange upside down, creating a ramp that is also a channel that helps keep the bike on the ramp.

I was thinking getting the folding ramps so they do not hang out of the truck, and I plan to walk up one while walking up the bike...

I knew a Robert Kuntz......   USS Lang in the 80's by chance?

The ramp only sticks out the back when the bikes are loaded. When the bikes come out, the ramp goes catty-corner into the bed and the bed cover (a BakFlip) comes down and the tailgate locks.

Would love to be able to figure out how to post photos. Let me know if there's a tutorial.

As for the Lang, no, I didn't serve. I DID spend the mid-80s covering the military, especially military aviation, as a newspaper reporter. I spent good chunks of time aboard a few carriers, especially the CVT-16 Lexington.

I did spend a VERY exciting afternoon and evening on a Knox Class frigate when they were doing support of an exercise by Air Force PJs parachuting into the sea. Cannot recall her name all these years later. . . but what a ride.

Welcome to the forum Gary and Robert! As far as photos the easiest way is to use Tapatalk which is an app on your phone. You can then add the Rad Owners Forum. Or you can upload them from your desktop using the 'Attachments and other options' which is below the box you type in.  There is a max size in order to keep down on space though. Under Attach, choose file and upload. Hope this helps!

Pedarro from Southern Cali.

When the pandemic hit, I was excited to explore my quaint beach town, so I ordered the Radrunner Plus. After close to four months, it finally arrived a few days ago. In the interim, I rented a RadRover, to get familiar with the company, the bike and to reacquaint myself with the Santa Barbara area. I look forward to making some modifications to the bike, once I get the build flaws worked out.  I look forward to being apart of this community.

OK, so please bear with this newbie as I figure things out... :-)  I am impressed with the Rad lineup but am driving myself crazy trying to decide which model to order. Most of my riding would be on bike paths (paved or dirt), but I would not necessarily rule out total off-road or sand travel. I am very comfortable on bikes, scooters, and motorcycles, but my challenge is I'm only 5'4". One of the Rad customer service folks counseled me that the RadRover Step Thru 1 would be too big for me and steered me to the smaller bikes. I'm not keen on the handlebars of the new RadRunner Plus, but it has other features that make it sound better than the RadMini. So, I'm hoping you all may have some thoughts to share with a vertically challenged (i.e. short) rider. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to the Forums! 5'4" is not short in my book; my wife is 5'2" and my best friend is 5'0", and she used to drive a Hummer!
Regarding the bikes, both are good, but with different features like you already noticed. The RadRunner Plus has the integrated rack and a passenger seat, and also has a suspension fork and a 7 speed drivetrain which the regular RadRunner does not have.

It's a nice package, and aside from having to replace the seat post to fit some seats, the only advantages of the mini are the folding feature and slightly less weight, and the ability to add a custom rear rack. If you do decide on the Mini though, have no fear about durability. I ride mine hard and even go on mountain bike trails, and the ability to fold has not shown any weaknesses.

Hey, Thanks Altema. Much appreciated. I'm curious if you or others have any thoughts about the high-rise type handlebars on the Radrunner Plus. I'm so used to flatter mountain bike handlebars. Is the high-rise more/less comfortable than the more traditional bars on the mini? How 'bout maneuverabilit? y, height adjustment, etc? Thanks again.

I'm from Alexandria, VA. I found a RadRover Step Through 1 on Facebook Marketplace sold by the uncle of the previous owner who ordered and assembled the eBike before he died. It had zero miles on it and was clean as a whistle. I had to drive 2 hours away to purchase it, but got a great deal! I have looked at purchasing a RadRover for 3 years and found this deal just as I was ready to buy. I've only put about 50 miles on it, but I LOVE it! I'm 59, and hate hills. This makes me feel like I'm a kid again, and I still get great exercise on it. I would recommend an eBike to all of my friends, and although a RadRover is the monster-truck of eBikes, Rad Power has many models to choose from for any riding taste.

Hi Everyone, My name is Jim Foster From Fresno California. I received my RadRover 5 on 9/22/20. Currently I have 370 miles on my Rad. I ride to work almost every day. 8 mile round trip. I would like to ride on the weekends but there is really no where to ride around here that is fun. I see other people posting on Facebook of the nice places they have to ride. Friday I did pick up a motorcycle carrier for $109 from Harbor Freight. Saturday my blazer started acting up so not sure how soon I will get to use the carrier to go somewhere to ride. My other car is a 2020 Camry and I do not want to put a hitch on and have issues later with the car warranty. I think have have everything I want for my Radrover.

Here is my list:

Ibera rack trunk bag and panier bags.
Bike radar.
Turn signals front and back.
Bar end mirror.
Cloud 9 seat.
Rechargeable light.
Phone holder with tether.
GZila water bottle holder.
Two handle bar extenders.

The Ibera rack, trunk bag and panier bags have been good. No issues with them at all.

The bike radar was pricey but I like it. I use Ride with GPS app for rides and the Radar works with this app. There is times I don't notice a car and scares the shit out of me when they pass. Now I know. Also I don't have to look over my shoulder as much. This radar does not replace looking over your shoulder so when I get the all clear from the Radar I then look over my shoulder.

I bought two turn signals. Both pair with one remote on the handlebar but the front one I had to mount upside down. The turn signal has a flashing blue light mode which here in California will get you in trouble with the police so I took both turn signals apart and put black paint on the blue LED's. While I had the front turn signal apart I switched sides on the turn LED's so now I can mount the front one correct side up.

Bar end mirror is fine. Stays put and does not vibrate. Cloud 9 seat is ok but when I do 20 plus mile ride my but still gets sore. It's is an improvement over the stock seat but if I ride not stop for 20 miles my butt does start getting sore. I tried the Cascade water bottle mount but had problems with the top of my water bottle hitting my handle bars so I tried the GZila mount and it's perfect. I was able to tilt the mount back. When I first saw the GZila mount for $55 I said hell no I'm not paying that much for a water bottle mount but in the end I did. The GZila is a really nice water bottle mount. I like how you can tilt it back.

I had one handlebar extender but things got crowded on the bar and I also wanted my phone holder up higher. I got another extender and attached it to the first extender. No issues with the extenders so far. The phone holder has worked well for me. Most of the holders on Amazon did have a review or two about the phone holder breaking and their phone smashing on the ground. I got a leather strap with a hook and attached it to my handle bar and phone as a tether so if the mount was to break my phone won't smash on the ground. I am using my old Android phone as a bike computer. I didn't want to put my $1,000 iPhone on the handle bar and subject my phone to all that vibration. I think I am going to return the light and try another. I swear the light was brighter when I firs got it. The last night ride the light was dimmer than when I first got it. I have tried several lights and have not been happy yet. The main problem is the sellers lie about how many Lumens the light outputs so it's a trial and error thing you have to do.

Jim

Fred here, living in New Jersey. I got my RadRover in August. It's my first ebike and certainly one of the best purchases I've ever made! Living on the coastal plain I don't have any concerns with hills and have found that the bike works great on the beach and the wooded trails that I ride. I'm used to the flatter bars as well, but technically, you can line the high rise bars up so the grips are about in the same position as the RadMini bar. With the high rise, you get a wider range of adjustability, and it's easy to move the grips closer to you. I'd vote them as having the potential to be more comfortable. For maneuverability, I'd say they are equal if the grips are positioned similarly. If you tilt the high rise handlebars towards you, the motion of steering includes side-to-side movement instead of just pivoting around a center point, and that can inhibit maneuverability if you have them tilted towards you a lot. It's usually not a problem unless you have the grips pretty close to your body. For height, the RadMini handlebars go up and down three inches, but can never be moved closer unless you change some parts. I know a few people who have converted their RadMini and similar bikes to the Radrunner style handlebars.

Hi team! I sold my Toyota 4Runner and replaced it with a black RadRunner about 2 weeks ago.

I’ve always been a car guy, but also been into bikes. With the pandemic having me working from home, the truck just sat in the garage and it became hard to justify the monthly cost.

So, this is really a big experiment for me. So far so good! It’s more fun to ride the ebike than to drive, and it has released a bunch of monthly cash, and space in the garage.

SwedishChef - Yes, the cost is hard to justify if you are not using a vehicle. We have no monthly payments on our older cars, and I'm a former racing mechanic, so maintenance is not an issue, but we are still paying full insurance on a car that sits in the driveway. I asked my insurance agent about that, and he said "You are already getting reduced mileage discounts". I pointed out there should be a near zero mileage discount, but made no progress.

The biggest roadblock to me using my Rad more, is the lack of secure parking at stores and restaurants. Twenty stores, and one rusty bike rack at the far end. A large mall half a mile away, and I can't take my bike there without an elevated risk of losing it. My favorite store has a bike rack that is as far away from the door as possible, and any thief or vandal could just walk away when you come out of the distant door. If I was a mall owner, I'd encourage bike use by providing secure parking with charging outlets.

Altema , I’m not quite a racing mechanic, but a garage mechanic, and I too know what it’s like to be able to maintain nearly 100% of a vehicle. I’m glad to hear I’m not the only car-person here.

As for the lack of secure parking, I’m sorry to hear that. Perhaps a long-ish braided Kryptonite cable could open up new possibilities to secure your eBike. It is not an issue where I live, and now I won’t take that for granted.

I still insure the family minivan, which is used by the wife and kids. Nice to have the option  available. They still use it daily, but it would be nice to switch to something a bit more friendly to our planet.

Hello to all Rad-icle peoples! Jon checking in from Boulder, CO. I just got my Rad Runner 1 (my first ebike) this week.  I found a small window of halfway decent weather and was able to get out and kill a full batteries worth. We have a pretty decent mixed-use trail system around town and with this bike I can get anywhere in our relatively small town (and surrounding towns) very quickly.

I've think in the 6 days (weather delayed) between when I placed the order and when it was received, I think I've read everything on this site so a big thanks to everyone who has contributed here.

Anyway, quick first impression of my Rad Runner 1 are not far from what others have already pointed out:
Cons (already well documented):
Obviously, still new and will try to keep up where relevant. Thanks again to all who contribute. I hope you and yours are all healthy and in good spirits. Spring is around the corner! Looking forward to the discussion.

The experience has been fantastic so far with 2 young kids in maxi seats on the back. The 3" tires are a wonderful change from previous editions - just hoping the custom 22" size becomes more available.

Look forward to sharing tips, tricks, customizing and so on to make this a true car replacement. Cheers to all the contributors and moderators!

Hello all you Rad people out there, just joined this site almost a month ago and I guess I forgot to introduce myself.

My name is Roberto from sunny southern California and I/we purchased two Rad Rover 5's (son and myself), one Rad Runner 1 (for my wife). We absolutely loved the bikes and it shows so now my older son and daughter just placed an order for another Rad Runner 1 and are on the list for a Rad Runner Plus which should ship sometime in April.

We like to roam around town on weekends and have discovered so many local shops along with small mom and pop restaurants that we never knew existed, it's great. We also happen to live in micro brewery central and have gastro-pubs all within a few mile radius so we get to go out and discover new and interesting brew and enjoy great tasting food.  And to think all this was (discovered) made possible thanks to our Rad bikes!
Thank you Rad power for making an awesome well made ebike!

Hey all, it's over 40 finally in Eastern Iowa.  I'm a retired IT Systems & Network Engineer.  "Big-Ten" universities (uiowa.edu). Tertiary Hospital care. World 5 - Siemens. we could design, order/setup, of Major Buss Telematics Systems. Mom & Pop systems & network design, order, implement, complete.  "Servers, Switches, Router setup & deployment"  Actively using Raspberry Pi - ARMHF chips, etc. An endless plugin and additional system applications.  od services, applications.

Oops, the rest of me:  I'm 61, single, I ordered a PW4 in September 2020, final delivery 12/30/2020... I charged the battery, knowing I wanted to keep it in a charging matrix.

OOPS, I charged the dam thing, I can find the charger.  I must be observant,  "difficulty to find" on setting 10. It's hiding very well.  grrr... LMAO.

GOOD MORNING. I have been registered for a couple of weeks as mrpeabody56. I forgot my password, and could not log on today. I requested a password reset, using my user name - it never came thru. I next requested a password reset using my email - when I did that I was told “no email/user by that name”.

Simply put, I cannot log on under my original user name. Could someone please tell me what I need to do? My pop up blockers, etc are not “on”. Thank you for any help/info you might send my way.

First time here from Bend Oregon, New RW4 owner. looking forward to learning more. Rode the RW4 into work this morning (20 degrees). The commute is approximately 11 miles,
had it in pas 3 most of the way and only used up 1 bar. I am stoked. Great bikes, now all I have to do is get a Rover 5 for my wife.

Hi,

I'm a Dad who has a 17 year old daughter. Such a rough year for her, b/c of family member health issues we had to lock down to only one of her friends into our protective circle. That, combined with school 100% zoom was rough. She managed, keeping her straight A's (chem -> B but hey), and not really grumbling much about the world situation.

As I reward for her fortitude she is the proud owner of a radrunner (green). It has freed her in so many ways. I really can not express how it has instantly become part of her life, and helped start mending the mental scrapes and bruises this year has brought all of us. Giving my girl some freedom back, and the power to travel easier and cleaner, well ... no words can express but for those parents out there I think you understand.

Accessory time!

Check your serial # on your front stem above your shocks.  It may have the year built into the number.

New (soon to be) owner from northern New Jersey here.  I ordered my RadRover 5 LE about 18 days ago.  The site said shipping in April when I placed the order.  I already received the accessories I ordered.  I was hoping the bike would ship early April but no such luck.  Still waiting...

Unfortunately I waited too long and had to absorb the $100 price increase.  I just didn't want to order and have it shipped to NJ in the winter.  We had a lot of snow this year and I wanted to be able to try it out before the 2 week return period ran out.  Right after the snow melted and I was about ready to buy, the bike went out of stock.  When it came up on pre-order, the increase was added... :o  DOH!

Anyone else have their bike shipped cross-country?  I'm a bit worried that the long trip will take a toll on the packaging.  Fingers crossed it's not that bad.

Anyway, looking forward to getting the bike and becoming more active in the community.

--UPDATE--  4-14-21 - Just got my shipment notification.  Should be here middle of next week  :)

RadCity StepThru is coming on Thursday and I'll be riding that into work (26 miles round trip) come June. I used to ride into work a couple times a month but it's slow going and I'd have to change clothes. This should halve the time (I took it easy) and keep my clothes decent. We're just starting to go back to the office and for the foreseeable future it'll be 2 days a week. I still have to drive oldest kid to and from school due to Covid. But from June forward they'll be out and then hopefully back on the bus in fall. The plan is for this to be my primary commuting vehicle, whenever weather permits.

Welcome to the forum @Miller. That is some serious DIY trailer work you got there. I bought the Hollywood rack for my Rover, to haul on the back of my Explorer. While I know it is designed to carry the weight, I still watch it like a hawk while I'm driving. I can visualize my bike coming off the rack and causing a "CHiPs" style catastrophe behind me. Not to impune your handiwork, of course, but I have trust issues. LOL

I just bought two RadCity step thru 3 bikes for my wife and me.  We are "senior" adults (OK, we're running up on 70) and enjoy getting outside for hiking, kayaking, and riding.  We embrace the idea in the Desiderata that says, "Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth".

OK, so I can't ride my road bike as well as I once did.  That doesn't mean that we can't still enjoy getting some exercise on a bike.  I can still ride; if I need a bit of help, I'll gladly take it.

My wife's bike came in last Saturday and mine will be here Thursday.  We tried hers as soon as we got it assembled and it is amazing.  We're looking forward to many trips and have several trips planned for the near future including riding the historical trails at Yorktown, VA and the many greenways around our home.

Hi Rad group, my name is Beam, we have a 1 year old daughter and a 4 year old son. My wife and I didn’t know how much we were going to love our 2021 radrunner +’s. We live in sunny SoCal. We are always looking for any excuse to get out and hop on the bikes. Ebikes have opened endless opportunities to explore since we live in a hilly area which otherwise with regular bikes it would never had happened. Needless to mention our kids love them too, they almost cry when we tell them we’re done and going back home.

Hi RAD Group.

My name is Harry. I live in Canada in Southern Ontario. I ordered a RadRover Step Thru in March. Still waiting for delivery. Is this normal? It's been 5 weeks. Maybe COVID is slowing things down or the Suez Canal incident. I have heart issues and so an ebike is perfect for me. I have been using a Giant Hybird ebike that is past due replacing. Anxiously waiting for my Rover. I've never ridden a fat bike before but I'm hoping it was a good choice.  Every accessory I wanted is sold out too.

Miller, Papakins, Beam and Dearsong! Thanks for joining us!

Miller - Many people like bar ends and others like handlebar mounted. Though the RadRunner's have different dimensions inside the handlebars so be sure to search around for others who have made it work. Here is a video on my favorite mirror brand (Hafny): https://youtu.be/dOxQ64eTyOQ
Beam - awesome to see the Yepp seats on the RadRunner +
Dearsong - yes delays are normal throughout the industry though they should have given you a pretty good estimate when you purchased.
Papakins - Awesome to hear you two getting out on your bikes. I like to say that ebikes are the great equalizers :)

Hi boys and girls,
Mako for the great state of New Jersey here.
60 years young, father to a 12 year old boy and happily married for 29 years. And there’s the rub!
I’m ready to pull the trigger on a RadRover.  Financing through Affirm authorized,6 weeks for delivery due to stock shortages which provides ample time to prep and now all I need is to convince my better half of how beneficial this toy will be to all c0ncerned.
My worries are about the accoutrements i will inevitably need to support this new addiction.
She has been with me through many-from timepieces to knives, pens and firearms.
For example:
Can my standard rack support this bike or do I need to invest in a hitch mount rack?Dont have a hitch mount currently on my aged Subby Outback
I’ll need panniers,a back rack,front rack,lights,even a helmet!
I look forward to perusing this forum and learning from the learned on all topics Rad bike related and others.
Wishing everyone a safe Memorial Day weekend . Thank you to all who serve and have served our great country!

I use Mirrycycle bar-end mirrors (easy to find at bike shops and online) on my Rad Mini Step-Thru and they're fantastic; inexpensive, very sturdy and they don't move once tightened down (that process is a bit squeaky and scary the first time, but heed the instructions to keep tightening; it won't break).  Have one mounted up/outward on the left and the other down/inward on the right - a trail entrance near home has narrow clearance between a tree and a fence.  Here's a photo of how they're set up.  And by the way, love your Vice-grips; along with duct tape they're the handyman's secret weapon.

Update: Here's Ryan's affiliate link to the product, current price is a little less than I paid a couple months ago at same URL:

I'm new to this forum and hail from the front range of Colorado. My wife just ordered and received a Rad City ST. She was told it might be six weeks before she received it but it showed up in less than a week. Ordered June 4 and it was delivered June 10!!! Amazingly fast!  It took about an hour to assemble it. I already have some questions for you experienced ebike users so I'll head over to the General Forum and post my questions there.

Hello all-

I have a RadWagon 4 on it's way to me. Me being me, and one that cannot leave anything alone, been looking into getting a little more performance out of it has brought me here. Quite the wealth of info here and been reading through alot of the back posts.

I am a pretty serious MTB'er, my own mechanic and have a very good understanding of bike components and drivetrain systems of all levels. I can help troubleshoot and or provide advise for anything related to the mechanical systems of the bikes. Electronics is completely out of my league though.

Hello,

My wife and I purchased two RadRunners last summer. She opted for the matte green RR1 whilst I decided to go for the Plus mainly for the gears. However,  I just sold my RR+ to a lovely family last week not because I didn't enjoy it but rather because I am expecting my RadWagon 4 any week now! We have 4 kids, including a toddler and an eight year old who are super excited about not having to take turns anymore! We are looking forward to getting back to our day trips on the Wagon. My order is sadly delayed but hopefully I'll have it sooner rather than later.

Customer service has been nothing if not phenomenal and I couldn't be happier with the quality of the bikes thus far. I have no doubt that the RW4 will be everything we need and them some. In fact, I'll be selling my truck once the RW4 arrives. I plan on going all in and making the RW4 my pick up replacement year round.

Thanks Ryan for your informative videos and for this site. It's part of what makes our bike ownership... well, rad! Keep up the great work!

Hi there! Just ordered my RadRunner Plus and am waiting for it to come in... Excited to begin commuting on that instead of my car.

This is my first ebike, but I've been biking casually for years. Just enjoyed riding around the city and discovering paths.

Recently moved to a much more bike friendly area that's closer to some public transit options, so I'm stoke to replace my car for the most part!

Hi all,

I live in Ridgeway (Fort Erie) Ontario, Canada, and bought a RAD Rover Step-Thru Mk I (white) last year for my wife.  She has mobility issues and couldn't use it, so I gave it a try.  I love it and use it a couple of time per week in the summer (240 km so far).  Every time I stop for a break, people come over to ask about the bike.  I am lucky to have a nearby, level, paved trail based on an abandoned rail line.  It runs from Fort Erie to Port Colbourne (24 km) across the north shore of Lake Erie, with Ridgeway situated in the middle.

My daughter bought me a cell phone holder for my bike and I installed it yesterday.  It was funny on my ride today to have it as a GPS, on a bicycle.  Technology can be wonderful.

In the meantime I’ve been slowly putting all the upgrades I got, and/or am making for it. I’m excited to post about it when it’s all said and done.
I rode a Byrd scooter one time in Baltimore and have never stopped thinking about it so I have a feeling I made the right decision.
This is a great forum by the way. I’ll be sure to use any links if it’s stuff I’m looking for.

Hello to everyone from a soon to be RAD Rover 6 plus owner X 2.  My name is Rick, a retired 67 year old newspaper pressman and presently live in the south Cariboo area of BC Canada.  I recently pre-ordered 2 Rad Rovers for both my wife and I. Unfortunately they won't arrive until October { I hope }. I'm enjoying reading the many topics covered here on the site, and the different ideas, upgrades, options that people post. All good information. Not sure it's pertinent but, I have several hobbies like hunting, fishing, but my main passion for a hobby is,... I build different stringed instruments ranging from full size electric guitars to 3 & 4 string cigar Box guitars to "oil can guitar" builds. I manage to sell most of what I make but managed to keep some of my favorites. Most of them are custom orders. But there's more to life than guitars and I'm really looking forward to getting on the roads and trails. I look fwd to meeting some of you here online and reading more about Rad Riding. Stay safe and well everyone.

Hello my name is Steve. I got my radrunner a few weeks back and I've been loving it! I live in NJ at the beach and already ride a bike regularly but wanted an e bike I'm glad I chose rad. I put the fenders on and zip tied a crate to the back. I also got a seat post and new seat. Setting it up has been almost as fun as riding. I'm excited to learn more about my bike on here and as I work on it.

Greetings from two New RAD riders from Olympia WA.   We were riders already but adding in the ebike help has made our outings much easier and can go further now.   Has turned into an expensive hobby with all the extras different from standard bikes.
We just drove down to the RAD store and took the boxes from there and I put them together.

Hello,

Brian in Vancouver Canada. I had an assembled Rad Mission delivered a few days ago. 3rd 12 hour balancing charge finished up this morning, been on 3 short rides, about an hour and a half each, one pushing the bike using assistance 1 and 2, the last one letting the bike do the work using assistance 3 and 4. I never sat on an ebike until the Mission was delivered. I have been a 21-speed commuter for years, but lately found myself disinterested about heading out on my bike on my days off from my labour intensive job. The Mission will make that happen no problem, the bit i have ridden it lets me know it will be fun. I have a bike stem on the way to raise the bars, got the fenders, back rack, kickstand and comfort seat added by the Rad Assembly Team.

I will be asking some maintenance questions, as I plan to get the Rad Mobile crew over once a year to change things, but need to know how frequent changes may be needed for stuff like brake pads and the chain. The Mission will only get 200 -300 a month and I ride all year long, but it will be pushed as far as hills, and I am used to having to change pads, chains and gears every 6 months on the 21-speed acoustic bike. Anyway, that is for another thread perhaps, for now..

Hello.

Hello Rad owners. I ordered a Radrunner1. Will be waiting for delivery a few weeks. I've been wanting an e-bike for a while now, and since I can no longer go for long walks due to medical reasons, no time like the present. Hopefully I will get the bike in good time to get some riding in before the cold weather here in Maine. Very excited, I can not wait. I came across this forum today, thought I should join.

Hello all:

John from the eastcoast (Dartmouth N.S.) After much research, consultation with my son an opportunity came up to purchase a (new to me) Rad Runner Plus. It is a year old with 1800Kms on it but appear to be in great condition. First impressions is that this is a beast! I sold my old Norco Hybrid mountain bike as my sciatica was not allowing me to get my leg over the cross bar and I could not pedal very far. First outing with this was for two hours and 35 Kms. Love that this allows me to get out and take pictures again.

My wife has no desire to get and ride a Ebike so for now it's just me.

Jim
My wife was like that, but now she wants to spend more time with me and wants an e-bike. She won't even get on mine (scared of the mods), but I think a stock Mini ST would suite her well. I still have my original battery in nice shape, so she'll be able to use that as a spare.

Especially at the currently-reduced price, I don't see how you could go wrong with a MiniST - I thoroughly enjoy mine.  Rad sent me a request recently to offer feedback about what I'd like to have changed or added, so I'm even more expecting it to be replaced with a new model fairly soon - meaning I bet you won't get the next generation for just $1,299.

Aside from hydraulic brakes (not sure about reliability of that in a folding design, even though I never fold mine) and more battery capacity, I'm actually struggling with things I think need improving.  I take stuff like a lousy stock seat and lousy stock headlight as a given - they need to hold down costs and many people would swap out both anyway.

Hello!  I am the proud owner of a new Rad Rover 6+!  I picked it up yesterday at the Seattle store. I had to spend 45 minutes out in the rain in the parking lot putting the carrier together so I could get the bike home, but I eventually made it and then spent the rest of the evening attaching the rear rack and rear-view mirror. I finally got a break in the rain earlier this morning and took it out for my first ride. What a blast! I’m looking forward to exploring. Unfortunately it turns out the local trails are off-limits to e-bikes (I literally live less than half a mile from the Duthie Hill mountain bike park), so I’m going to have to figure out other places to ride besides my local streets and the East Lake Sammamish Trail. I would definitely welcome any suggestions on fun places to ride near Seattle’s Eastside.

Just joined Forum-
I ride bikes- MTB, Road and Gravel so I got the ebike for tooling around the neighborhood, occasional run to the Grocery Store or the pub.

Owned an original RadWagon but recently sold it.  Just never liked it all that much.  Cant specifically say why, likely longer than I wanted for storing, PIA to get in and out of the Garage.  In the end had it 2 years put less than 150 miles on it total.  Sold it last month to a neighbor
Just built and started riding a RadRunner1 and already enjoy it more.  Was planning on using the Panier I had but while it fits on the rear rack it interferes with peddaling so I need to figure that out.

Hey there, all.

I’m a new owner of a rad rover plus, in the Southwest US. I’m really looking forward to using the bike around town and on easygoing unpaved trails in the area. This is my first ebike, and is taking some getting used to, but I’m learning as I go. It’s certainly very different (and much heavier) than my other rides, and stop-and-go traffic definitely gets  ???my heart rate up. ;) Still, Im more comfortable by the day and enjoying the ride.

I’m glad to find these forums because I expect I will find some answers using the search function!

I hope something good happens to you today,
Soweco

Hi Jeff, too bad about the Duthie Hill park not permitting e-bikes. Not everyone is clear that e-bikes are classified as "non-motorized vehicles", so there's a bit of confusion, but in the end it's the land manager who determines e-bike use for their jurisdiction. Some trails are funded by grants that are specifically for non-motorized trails, and land managers don't want to risk losing the funding. Below is a link to the e-bike page of the "Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance", and that may be of assistance. You can also try "traillinks.com" which has some good tools for finding trails in your area.

This is Zack from southeast Michigan. I am considering getting either a RadMini Step-Thru 2, a RadMini 4 or electrifying my Bike Friday New World Tourist with a kit from Grin Technologies. Joined this forum to help me decide which way to go as I weigh the pros and cons of both systems.

Want to get a folding electric bike so that I can keep it in our van on road trips. And being electrified it would let me go to places out of reach for a pedal bike by extending my range. Also want a bike to take to the local supermarket when the weather is warmer.

We go to Provincetown on Cape Cod every year and I look forward to having an e-bike to explore the trails on the Cape.

Hi Zack, welcome!

If you decide to go with a Rad Mini, I highly recommend the Step-Through over the step-over model; I bought the ST and am extremely happy with it.  The frame is very strong to compensate for no upper bar and the arrangement of battery and controller is nicer IMHO especially if you ride in wet or muddy environments or want to add an aftermarket controller/display.  Plus that step-through frame is nice if you have any knee or hip problems, or have something large strapped to a rack on the back.  The one thing I never do with it is fold it, but nice to know I can if I ever need to.

I'd go so far as to say there is no reason at all to prefer the step-over version.  Unfortunately you've just missed a pretty big sale where it could be had for around $1,200 depending on the combined discounts, or $1,150 if buying two of them.  It's gone up $200 back to the old $1,500 price in the new year and we're expecting it to be replaced with a newer model, probably at a "newer" price as well.

Here's my current configuration with a few doo-dads I've added since getting it last March:

Hello all, I've been riding a good part of my life (both on the road and off-road).  I'm from NJ and spend a bit of time in South Florida as well.  With the gasoline crunch, I needed like so many others, a way of getting around.  I'm a few years from retirement and looking to RV.  The RADExpand 5 seemed to fit the bill for me so I ordered it this past Friday.  Looks like allot of fun.

Hello! My name is Moses and I live in coastal Southern California - so we have great weather year round, but so many wildfires.  :-\

I just sold my 2018 RadWagon that I had bought on Black Friday 2018. Had over 5K miles on it. Most of them with my 6 year old on the back. It's been so much fun!
I sold my truck, bought the wagon, and now we are a one car family and saving a ton. Luckily I can get pretty much everything I need within walking/biking range, and if not, I just borrow or rent a 2nd car.

I just picked up a new RadRunner + this week. Waiting for passenger bars and rack/large basket to arrive. Already digging it a ton, though it feels so different to the wagon in so many ways.

I look forward to reading more about everyones mods and workarounds. I probably wont change anything too major, but its fun to learn about.

Newbies here.  We live on an island about 80 miles north of Seattle and drove down to visit the Rad store in Ballard last week.  We are both in our early 70's and have been considering ebikes for some time now, and after test riding several different Rad models at the Rad Store we decided on purchasing 2 Rad Runner Plus models. Two things we will want to change right away on the Rad Runner Plus models are the factory saddle (way too small for either of us) and replacing the long rear passenger seat with a strap-on panniers bag of some sort.  If we go with something like Cloud 9 or Bikeroo over sized seats, will we also have to purchase a different seat post as well? Thanks for your input.  B&D

Hey all whats up.

Second post, and hopefully way more the usual me lol.

My name's Chris.  48 going on 19.  Former video game developer, network engineer, and infosec type person.  Living in Albuquerque, NM these days.

Pandemic's been a little rough on me so, kinda forced to re-evaluate my transportation situation and in an attempt to find a solution, stumbled on ebikes.  Local Rad partnered shop offered me a test drive and I was instantly hooked.  Had been over 20 years since I rode a bike and honestly I was pretty stunned how quickly it all came back.  Took a beautiful ride through the Albuquerque Bosque (seriously, google this or hitup youtube if your'e into nature.  The Bosque is incredible).  Came home, and talked it over with the wife.  Ordered the bike that night.

Getting a Radcity 5 Plus, maybe.  Miight be switching to a Rover.  Suposed to take delivery of the City here in a few days.  But this will be my first attempt at being a bike commuter but I feel like I live in one hell of a place to do it.  Especially since If I pick the furthest place I'd ever want to get to in this town, and then pick another point on the furthest other end of town to find that distance is only 18 miles.  This is a great place to be an ebike commuter I think.

I'm pretty stoked about it anyways.  These things are pretty damn cool and I can't wait to get started.

Hello- we been in Austin for 30 years now and live in Georgetown, TX for past 2. (Sun City) Just received 2 Rad Express5's for the wife and myself.  I ordered the Cloud9 Cruiser Gel seats, the LCD display, the phone holder so far...seats are an improvement and we like the LCD display also.  Just got the Rad phone holders..not sure about these yet..will install today and see about them. My biggest challenge now is packing them for travel.  We have an Airstream 28' trailer, and "thought" these would be easy to pack along in a plastic ben, between our twin beds...this is proving a bit challenging do to the size of these when folded. I found one size 70 Gal. at Home Depot, that someone here recommended...will try out today.  I have an F250 with a flat folding bed cover, but not sure these will fit unless I lay the bike down...may end up doing that with one.  Was hoping to find a soft side case perhaps, that would cover these and provide some protection rather than a plastic bin, but the handle bars present a challenge when folded.  Seems a solution needing to be developed for this model.  Busy next few days solving this issue.

We summer in WY area outside Jackson in Star Valley Ranch RV Resort, all summer and are looking forward to biking in the Tetons, Yellowstone, and Glacer in June/July.  We are looking forward to the fun and exercise with these Rad bikes.

We have some great trails in Tallahassee and the bike allows me to keep up and sometimes challenge by mountain bike-riding husband!  With the fat tires, the kids thinks it looks like a motorcycle.

My bike's not even ready so I'm completely within the 14 days and the bike still has zero miles.  I could return it if I want but.

So have you received the City?  If not, won't Rad let you cancel and just order the Rover under the new deal on that model?  If they haven't shipped the City, I'm sure they can sell it to the next person in line.

I paid for bike shop delivery and assembly.  They have all the stuff, helmet arrives today.  Everything shipped to the bike shop.  I haven't gotten the "it's ready" call to pick it up.

Dean here from Southern MD. Proud owner of a new Radrunner 2. The bike will see use in RV parks and be used for Ebike hunting here in MD. Pretty excited about the bike. I believe it perfectly split the space between recreation and utility.

Hello,

Ordered two 6+'s, charcoal high step and white step through.
Although bikes appear to be the same (except for the obvious) I was surprised to see the high step come from Savannah, GA and made in Taiwan and the step through to come form Washington state and made in china.

I ordered during the recent sale/discounted price that included 3 accessories. Along with a few extra accessories I ordered I thought it was odd that all 11 items were shipped in separate fedex shipments.

Hello! Penny here Rading it from Vancouver, Washington. I got my RR+ 2 weeks ago. I am a former motorcycle rider, so it was a little easier to get a feel for the bike on the first ride. My goal is to spend more time outside while exploring the nooks and crannies of my neighborhood.  :)

A lot is on my profile.  I'm a retired IT Guy.  Profiles are made to be filled out!  NETWORKING.   LOL

I'm on my 2nd Rad Ride.  My RW4 was stolen 03/2022 in Cedar Rapids, IA... where I live.

I've had my new RadRunner Plus, 2 weeks now, and I must say, for me it is is much better "fit" as in FIT and fit for me.  I thought the "plus" package was a good value.  The special packages, na, not so much!  No combination it'd want.  I did get in on a bunch of the accessories on sale.

I'm into many many things, animal husbandry, antique tractors, fiber arts (not the optical kind).  I spin wool into yarn, I weave cloth too. I've got 2 Ender3 (Pro and V.2) 3D printers.  I run all my IT stuff off different versions of the Raspberry Pi computer.  Even my Desktop!  Pi 4b - 8GB running Pi OS 64bit.  My other IT stuff is exclusively HP.

I have many 21st, 20th, 19th and 18th century spinning wheels.  It is a process that's as old as man.  Wanted cloth (ok not a hide), you had to spin & then weave the fibers...  All of Erickson's and Columbus' sails were hand spun and hand woven.  So were the Nippon sailors that inhabited Peru.

I'm a geek, nerd.  I started working on tractors when I was 4 years old.  I know stuff, I problem solve, I turn the orange light green. Oldest Child...

Nice to meet you all!

one of the best parts of my Rad is discovering things in my neighborhood I never knew existed. :D

side note - when the kid graduates HS in two years, the wife and I are likely moving to the PNW - and Vancouver, WA seems to be where our compass is pointing.

I'd personally not trust just a "clamp" type lock.  You see all the bikes in Amsterdam with that lock, being fished out of the canels.

I'm in Iowa USA, in a small metro, I've got the 3 biggest ABUS locks I can find.  The MEGA chain - 15 rated, the 6000 series flat chain lock - 15 rated, and the smaller flat chain lock - 10 rated.  I'm trying to decide between their "Smart U-Lock" and their HUGE one.

I know it's sad to have to lock a nice bike up with all that.  When you can leave a $2500 Chevy beater unlocked with the windows down... (same price)

Hi, I?m Joe, retired accountant in the Dallas, Texas area. I bought my RadRover 6+ about 3 weeks ago as a birthday present to myself. My wife has a RadMini 4. We plan to take them camping with us.

I had to give up riding my Trek FX7.6 for awhile due to back pain. Little to no back pain with the ebike. The RadRover seems so massive. The only add-on so far is a rear rack. I feel like I?m getting almost as much of a workout as riding my road bike. Looking forward to riding many more miles.
