General Chat / Re: Bike Lock

The idea of an alarm on the disc brake is something I like and will have to look into. I recommend searching eBay for the Kryptonite New York Fahgettaboudit Chain with Disc Lock 1415 5' 150cm x 14mm.  It'll be about 15 pounds but I have two racks on the RadRover that will hold the weight so I don't have to sling it over my shoulder. The RadRover gets attention wherever it goes. I'm afraid to leave it unattended, but this lock will go along way toward allaying my fears. By the way, no matter how good your bike lock is, you will want to take your battery with you. The lock that holds it in place is cheap, a master key is easy to find on the Internet, and it's a $500 investment.

I'm from Alexandria, VA. I found a RadRover Step Through 1 on Facebook Marketplace sold by the uncle of the previous owner who ordered and assembled the eBike before he died. It had zero miles on it and was clean as a whistle. I had to drive 2 hours away to purchase it, but got a great deal! I have looked at purchasing a RadRover for 3 years and found this deal just as I was ready to buy. I've only put about 50 miles on it, but I LOVE it! I'm 59, and hate hills. This makes me feel like I'm a kid again, and I still get great exercise on it. I would recommend an eBike to all of my friends, and although a RadRover is the monster-truck of eBikes, Rad Power has many models to choose from for any riding taste.

In case no one else was aware. A simple Google search will turn up universal Rad Power battery keys sold on Etsy and Ebay. https://bit.ly/3fKsWZy They are very common. A new battery costs $500.00, and a universal key costs less than $15.00. My advise is to bring a backpack on your travels to carry your battery with you when you  walk away from your eBike. Why take a chance on a big-ticket item? All Rad Power bikes use the same batteries and locking system. If I were a thief, I'd buy a universal key. Take my advise and carry your battery with you.

Hello, Yellowdirt. I have a RadRover and not a RadRunner, so I can't be sure about your model of eBike, but let me point out that security skewers are only for replacing the existing quick-release skewers. The RadRover only has a set of quick-release skewers on the front wheel and the seat post. If the RadRunner follows suit, its rear wheel uses a thicker bolt and nut for the axel, and not a quick-release skewer, so the rear wheel would not be a candidate for a security skewer. There may be a different security arrangement system for the rear wheel that you can purchase, but having a bolt and nut arrangement is already a deterrent to the casual bicycle thief.
