Service & Repair / Re: RAD mini Fork seal leak

OK, Thanks for the info Gents.  Glad i asked before I tore into looking at disassemply.  That means the seals themselves are "lifetime" lubricated.

Rad's forks are made with springs and there is no fluid in them. If they are leaking you may have gotten water in them or over-lubricated them. Just wipe them down and you should be all good.

Forks with springs from my experience in MC's sit in a bath of fork oil.  What makes you sure of your answer?   Unless the seals are lubricated themselves only, which I suppose could be a possibility.   I have wiped them both down.  The oil on the forks comes back from compression of use.

Service & Repair / RAD mini Fork seal leak
June 08, 2022, 07:41:19 AM

Both our 2021 Mini's still under warranty have leaky fork seals with less than 500 miles on them.  I am MC rider familiar with dealing with leaky seals  and wondered if anyone else has dealt with this yet?

Hi Jim,    You can get the multi sized tool as I did from Amazon or Walmart for about $9.   I think the mini size is 11 if I recall correctly.

RadCity / Re: Rad City ST 3 or a Mini ST

Just seems to fit me better and the smaller wheels by virtue of size make more torque going up hills.   The City is good for flats and distance is easier as they are 26 inch versus 20 inch wheels.    There is no bad choice here.   Many people own both kinds surprisingly.

I have both City  and prefer the Mini for all around riding and the folding capability.  Did not expect it to be so but it is.
5 10 and 215 lbs.

we have 4 RADS now 3, No more city for me.  The Mini fits me better and rides well I don't even miss my City bike!
Why did they raise prices?   1.  Because they can!   They probably have to to keep margin in check.

  MC size differently - 3.0 x 16 = 20 inch wheel

Thanks !

Is the 16 for the actual 16" diameter my wheel has? Meaning [anything] x 16 will fit a 20" tire?

Hoping to find a good 3.5" for my Mini 4.

Yes -  but you will find limited sizing for 3_ x 16 (20) inch tires.   Rad had them made specically for that reason,  I believe so that you had to buy from them or find it challenging to find our size.  Why I am looking for a sale price on the Shinko 241 tire.

Looking at Shinko 241's to replace when it is time.   Some have tried them with great success - https://www.chapmoto.com/shinko-sr241-series-dual-sport-front-rear-tire.html

I have been lusting over the city 5 also after having a city 3 and now LOVE my mini 4 but now you know why the MINI is so popular!

In this day and age I can hardly believe this!!!  There must be more securing thought brought by production for security issues - not less!  SMH...

Long time MC rider here.   Much easier to jump on the RAD for a run up to the store rather than my big touring bike with loads of storage!!   20mph on the RAD feels like 60 on the MC and just as much fun!    Yes we ride both in bike lanes and with traffic and on bike trails.  Great having throttle to take off when stopped in turn lane waiting with cars for light to turn green.    8)
