RadRover / Re: Stem riser/handlebar sizing?
August 30, 2022, 08:45:05 AM
If the Rover 6 is the same size as the Rover 5, here's the one I installed. It's a 95mm length for handlbar diameter 31.8mm/1.25".

I use this one for my cat on my Rover 5. I also use it on long, multi-day trips to carry all my stuff.

You need a different nut than the stock one to mount the hitch to the rear axel. This is the one that I got that I think works best.

Here's where I got mine. They were the large ones. They don't have the part that sticks up, just regular grips.

@RADmaster - not exactly what you're asking but I have the standard/regular version of these Ergon GP3 grips without the upright option. I like them much better than the standard RAD grips. For some reason I tend to grip my handlebars pretty hard. These are a lot better on my hands. The ones I got do have the right one not as wide to accomodate for the throttle.

@JimInPT Thanks for posting this photo. I hadn't thought of putting a piece of hose on my Kryptonite U lock to keep it from scratching the bike. Great idea!

RadRover / Re: Inner Tube Reccomendations
August 15, 2022, 05:48:13 AM
They say that the tubes for the Rover with the Tannus Armor are smaller 26x3.0. I found 26x3.o tubes at Dick's Sporting Goods. I bought a few for spares on my long trips. I've ridden almost 500 miles since I put the Tannus Armor in and I haven't needed the tubes yet.

General Chat / Re: RAD RUNNER BATTERY CASE
August 05, 2022, 05:36:43 AM
I have 4 batteries for my 2020 Rad Rover 5 and I use this case to carry my spares in. It fits the battery exactly right. Note - it just has room for the battery alone in it, nothing else. If your Rad Runner uses the same size battery, you should be good. It's much less expensive than the Rad case.

I would probably use that one myself if I needed a 1-1/4" hitch and only one bike.

You should confirm that weight rating for two bike. When I looked at the manuals for that, it looked like the first bike was 60lbs, but the second one was only 35lbs. I still think this looks like a good option for folks who have to have a rack for a 1.25" hitch. It says a maximum load of 95lbs.

General Chat / Re: Battery Terminal Cover
July 21, 2022, 07:50:00 AM
On my Rover 5 I took a large plastic bag and wrapped it around the entire battery mount and frame a few times. Then I secured it with long velcro straps above and below the battery mount. I did the same thing with the controller and display. I drove with it on my hitch rack for 3000 miles like this through some heavy rain storms for part of that. It worked well and kept things dry. I considered using a full cover as well (like for a motorcycle), but just went this route instead.

My 2020 Rover 5 looks exactly like this one - LD-LS06-F

I put a Schwinn trailer on my Rover 5. I had to get new nut because the stock one has a lip around it that makes it too large. The axle on my Rover 5 is M12-1.25. The 1.25 is harder to find. Most of the ones I found were M12-1.75 which will not work. Here's the nut I ended up getting.

I've head that the bolt all the Rad's are the same size, but I can't confirm that.

There was some discussion about this in another thread.

There are some controller boxes as well on Amazon that may or may not work depending on your bike model and where you want to put it. I purchased one for my Rover 5. It would have protected it well, but I wanted to have the controller in the stock location. It wouldn't fit there with the cover, so I returned it. I haven't rode my bike in any significant rain, but I have had it on the rack on the back of my car while driving in some heavy storms. I had covered the display with a plastic bag secured with a rubber band around it. I covered the controller with a couple of small trash bags secured with multiple velcro straps. That probably wouldn't work too well for use while riding. I bought a can of Flex Shot like what was discussed in the thread above, but I never actually put it on.

How To Information / Re: Bike-2-Bike intercom?
June 27, 2022, 12:20:02 PM
I use the Sena R1 helmets for myself and my wife. They work the same (and with) the Sena Pi that @rabi mentioned. In addition to the intercom functionality, they have bluetooth for my phone for music or call. The one I have actually even has FM radio as well, but I never use that. One thing that I really like about it is how it works with my Samsung Galaxy Watch 4. I use the exercise tracking on it and it plays me a status update every mile. It tells me through the speakers how many miles I've gone, what my time and speed was for that last mile, and what my current heart rate is. Bluetooth earbuds would give me this same info, but I don't like wearing earbuds for fear of losing them, and I still want to hear the sound around me for safety. The speakers on the Sena helmet are right above your ears and the microphone is right above your forehead. I've asked people I'm talking to if they hear a lot of wind noise and they have all said no. I think @Ryan has link to a review posted here that he did of the Sena stuff.
