General Chat / Re: Communicating with another rider

I agree with what the others have said. The Sena helmets work great. I've been using them for the intercom, Audible books, and answering phone calls for a couple of years.

There's a link on this page that has an installation document.

I have these two on my two Rover 5's. I think I like the Lumiere one better, but the Rockbros one is probably more waterproof.

General Chat / Re: RW4 and 20 inch tires
August 11, 2023, 09:54:23 AM
Isn't the wheel a 20 inch wheel? Would you replace both wheels with new 20" wheels as well? That seems like it would be expensive, especially for the wheel with the motor on it.

The link works for me both by letting it detect my location by GPS, or by entering a zip code. Very strange.

I was a huge fan of Rad bikes, and still own two Rover 5's that I love. I also have family members/friends with another 5 Rad bikes that I recommended they purchase about two years ago. Rad has changed though, and is not the same company to deal with. I don't think their current bikes are as well engineered or built anymore. It's really disheartening to see all the problems that people are reporting, and how Rad support is almost non-existent. I stopped recommending Rad about a year ago. When the Rad Trike came out, I decided that I wanted a trike. I didn't buy the Rad though. I bought the Lectric Trike. I really like it and it was significantly less expensive than the Rad. I've been recommending the Lectric bikes to everyone instead now. It looks like Lectric has dealers throughout the country who sell their bikes and even have rentals/test rides. It looks like they also have even more dealers who are certified to repair them.

Lectric has CST 20" x 3" tires on their website. I don't think they're the Big Boats. They have a knobby tread pattern. They're 2 for $50.

My wife?s aunt has a Rad Rover 5 Step Through that she wants to sell. It is a little less than two years old but has never been ridden. It?s like new with zero miles on it. She had some surgery right before she got it, and now that she has recovered, she finds that it is too big for her. She wants to get something smaller and lighter. I borrowed the battery for one of my long trips last year and put it through 5 charge/discharge cycles. Other than that, the bike has never been used. The bike is located on the North side of Cincinnati, OH. They don?t want to ship it. It would be local pickup only, or they said that might be willing to deliver it within 100 miles. They are asking $1000 for it. You can message me if you are interested or have questions, and I can put you in touch with them.

Included in sale:
Rad Rover 5 Step Through ? White
Rad Battery
Rad Toolkit
Rad Charger
Rad Front Rack ? Orange

Rear View Camera with Monitor (still new in box) - https://amzn.to/43YZHdt

RadMini / Re: 2017 Rad Mini battery replacement
June 20, 2023, 05:11:32 AM
I would buy a good aftermarket battery from Amazon or somewhere else. It will likely come with a new mounting plate/wiring. Those are generally an XT60 connector. The website below sells dual battery kits, but they also sell adapter cables for Rad so you don't have to cut/splice any wires. You can get an XT60  to Rad adapter cable for like $20 that you can use with the aftermarket battery.

Rad Modifications / Dual Battery
May 19, 2023, 07:36:20 AM
Does anyone have experience with this dual battery balancer option? It looks very easy to install and comes with all the cables. It doesn't allow for charging the batteries on the bike, but I don't do that anyway. I just ordered one.

I actually ordered it to use my four Rad Rover 5 batteries I already have with my new Lectric Trike using an extra battery mounting plate/harness that I purchased from Rad. Before I do that, I'm going to test it on my Rover 5 as well and see if I want to get a second one for it.

That sounds like you might have a bad display. I've had mine for about 2 years and have gone close to 2000 miles with it. Mine is still on the default brightness setting and I haven't experienced this issue. You may be on to something with polarized sunglasses helping. They can definitely have an effect on reflections. I remember wearing my polarized sunglasses in my car and having them totally block my heads up display that reflects up onto my windshield. I thought it was broken until I took off my sunglasses.  :)

I wonder if changing the brightness with parameter C6 would help? The default is 3 and 5 is the brightest. I've seen a lot of folks change this to 4. Have you tried increasing this?
