Service & Repair / Re: 6+ Brake Pad Install
August 08, 2022, 06:34:20 PM
You don't need to remove a wheel to change pads. Just remove the respective caliper, remove the cotter pin that holds the pads/bracket to the caliper, and gently grab the extended tab of the bracket with a needle nose plier, squeeze the bracket tab very slighltly and then pull it out. Pads are now accessible to replace with new ones.

Make sure the caliper is centered to the rotor. If it is slightly off center, you won't get proper/complete contact between the pads and the rotor. Loosen the caliper mounting bolts that hold the caliper to the frame, so that there is a very slight bit of physical movement of the caliper. Then compress and hold the brake lever while re-tightening the caliper support bolts to the proper Newton Meter specs.Your caliper will now be centered to the rotor.

Yes. I installed it on mine 2 days ago.

Could you give a brief assessment of performance?

Thanks

RadRover / Re: Flat Out Tire Sealant

I installed a quarter bottle of it per tire instead of the half bottle recommended by FO and inflated both tires to 25 psi. I have just started riding it one week after using the sealant (new RR6+) and have not experienced any bouncing. Only have 11 miles on the bike so far.

Service & Repair / Metric Bolts sizes
July 27, 2022, 04:43:25 PM
I ordered a bleed kit on Ebay for the NUTT front wheel hydraulic system on my RR6+. Unfortunately for me, I did not read the complete title as advertised as I only saw the word NUTT and skipped over the words ZERO Scooter which is what this kit is for and not a RR6+. The bleed adapters in this kit, according to the vendor, are M5x.08 mm in size. Rad Tech support says I need metric adapters measuring as M5.8 mm. The vendor says M5x.08 mm and M5.8 mm are the same sizes. I say they are not. Who is right?

RadRover / Re: Just ordered a RadRover 6 plus

Got my RR6+ last week and unfortunately, it is still sitting in the garage as I await a Bleed kit to fix my front brake system, which was my own undoing, in trying to adjust the lever movement. Backed out the barrel nut too far and let air into the reservoir, which brings me to this question. Does anyone have any reference info to the specific part number for the NUTT front brake assembly which would include the caliper, brake line and lever? And if so, where to source it. I don't know at this point if Rad even stocks it.

I have tried numerous times this past week to call Rad service only to listen to "We appreciate your patience...an agent will be with you shortly". 20 minutes oh hold is my limit. I fear with recent layoff's that Rad service was also affected.

To add to the OP question, this is what I have added for accessories, so far.

1. RAD Rear Rack
2. Cell phone holder
3. Thumb throttle
4.Handlebar extender
5. Cloud9 seat
6. Flat Out Tube Sealer
7.Acctron bottle holder
8.Hafhy bar end mirrors
9. Bell MIPS helmet
10. Spare tube in case the sealant doesn't work

After next months SS check:

1. Juiced bikes horn with alarm
2. Kryptonite Chain lock
3. Rockbros bag for the rear rack
4. Portable air compressor
5. Tube repair kit

Haven't had so much fun spending money in years!

Service & Repair / Re: RR6+ Hydraulic Brake System

I took a second look at the brake lever reservoir (my eye sight isn't great) and what I thought was NUIT, was actually NUTT. Found a bleed kit on Amazon.

Service & Repair / RR6+ Hydraulic Brake System

In trying to increase compression on the front (left) brake lever, I turned the barrel nut to far and suddenly mineral oil was dripping on the floor and I had lost all brake lever pressure. In other words, no brake. I've been looking at various YT video's on how to bleed the system and it is pretty straight forward.  My brake lever reservoir shows NUIT Mineral oil. I'm not sure if the lever reservoir is by Tektro. Is there any way to identify who the manufacturer of the system is? I find many kits for Shimano and other systems on Amazon and just wondering if there is a specific kit for Tektro if indeed that is who my system is by.

How To Information / Barrel adjuster on brake lever
July 20, 2022, 06:22:19 PM
New RR6+. The front brake lever requires more compression (movement) to engage the brake than the rear brake. Will adjusting the barrel nut increase compression (less movement of the lever) and which way should it be turned?

Rad Modifications / Strobe feature
July 18, 2022, 06:20:28 AM
I recently ran across a YT video that showed a RAD5 or 6 being ridden in daylight and the headlight (not sure if it was the OEM light or not) was flashing in a strobe pattern. I have been unable to relocate that video for further info. Is there a strobe flashing feature with the stock headlight on a 6+ and if so, instructions to activate it?

Service & Repair / SAE or Metric
July 17, 2022, 04:48:05 PM
I want to purchase a set of Allen sockets from Harbor Freight, but there catalogue lists both SAE and Metric sizes. Seeing that my soon to be delivered RR6+ is assembled in China, would I be correct in assuming that the Allen head bolts used in the RR6+ are Metric?

Placed my order today for two plastic caps that are attached to a set of handlebar grips that are attached to something called a Rad Rover 6 +. Pretty expensive caps! :o ;D

Thanks for your reply. I am going to assume that caps were already present and that you did not have to cut a hole. Am I correct?
