the picture on Facebook was much clearer. It looks like a new runner with a Semi-integrated battery..... Not sure how I feel about that....

Zac,

Glad you found the forum and welcome.

try joining the Rad Power Bike Upgrades FaceBook group. Then do a search for Pannier within the group. There are a few different options that folks have come up with listed there.

I hope this helps.

Rad Modifications / Re: Throttle disconnect kit
« on: January 02, 2023, 07:29:54 AM »
You need to email or call Rad to get the disconnect kit.

keep in mind that your Rad bike is a Class 2 e-Bike and has a sticker that shows it as a Class 2 e-Bike. Disconnecting the throttle cable may not be good enough for local law enforcement. Please check with your local officials before hitting the trail.

RadRover / Re: Air Tag hiding/mounting
« on: December 28, 2022, 12:31:41 PM »
as previously posted if you can, remove the speaker from the air tag before hiding it. My self I found on the Rover 6+, that the empty space above the battery and behind the lock core is a great location. there is no access to this spot without removing the battery and a number of screws. the range is decreased by being in the down tube, but it does still work.

The owner's manual is available for download and viewing on Rad's webpage. https://radpowerbikes.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360036980374-Download-My-Owner-s-Manual-or-View-Assembly-Video

Not a bad-looking bike but it is capped at 14mph out of the box.

My guess is that this Trike is aimed at the disabled and seniors as a scooter alternative and not at the biking community at large. ( but this is just my opinion)

RadRover / Re: Source for RR6+ battery connector?
« on: December 05, 2022, 02:58:26 PM »
I have bought a few of those from Rad in the past. they are called the Battery mount for Rover 6+ and City 5+. I would recommend getting the one for the HS bikes, it has a longer cable and can be easily cut and spliced if need be.  The ST version does not have enough to cut and splice, in my opinion. I think they are $40 if I remember right from my last order.

Thanks for the info.  Do you recall if the cable from the mount/connector connected all five pins, or just the higher current + and - ?

Only the + & - are active. the others do not attach to anything in the battery or in the bike.

the battery to controller connection is part of the battery mount on the Semi-integrated battery bikes. try this guide to find it. https://radpowerbikes.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/5723831771163-Semi-Integrated-Battery-Mount-Replacement?source=search

if you have an HS version of the bike you can cut the battery mount cable in half and splice in XT60 connectors to both halves. (The ST version the cable is too short to do this nicely, but you can order a new HS battery mount to use just for this mod.) Then you can run any battery with this bike as long as you have XT60 connectors on it.

I have 2 Rad external batteries in Parallel with the stock SI-Battery on my rover 6+, 3 batteries in parallel total, using the Datex3 connector from BGB.

THIS is where I have the question - is it simply as matter of running a cable (with adapter if necessary) from say my rack to the female part of this cable (see photo), or is there more to it? (again, to clarify, I'm just looking to swap as I ride, not run in tandem, although the tandem thing seems to be ultimately be the easier thing)

Assuming you want to run both at the same time, the best option in my opinion, from the controller connector run a wire to the parallel adapters controller input. then run wires from the batteries to the battery inputs of the parallel adapter. that is all that is needed.

I would highly recommend a parallel connector if you connect two or more batteries. if you do not use one then there is a risk of accidentally connecting the batteries at the same time and that can be ver bad, fire kind of bad, depending on the difference in charge state.

Service & Repair / Re: Rad battery BMS replacement
« on: November 11, 2022, 07:20:25 AM »
Hi, my battery recently died and I wonder if I am also having a BMS failure issue.  I was wondering how you went about finding the replacement BMS, because I cannot seem to find the same one in Switzerland.  If the specs are the same (13s, 48v, 25 a, and assuming it is the same physical size or smaller), is that enough, or do I need to search for something else?  I am searching Amazon France and Germany, by the way.  Thanks!

According to the guide that DickB made, this is where he got the BMS. I have also gotten them from here:

General Chat / Re: Rad Power Bikes battery storage over a winter
« on: November 03, 2022, 12:11:38 PM »
I will still be actively riding my bike over Winter, but temperatures in the shed where I keep the bike get to around freezing (~30-35 degrees) overnight. Is it ok to keep the battery on the bike in these temperatures, or will this degrade the life of the battery?

Best to bring the battery indoors between rides and to charge it. Also, it might not be a bad idea to let it get to room temperature before charging.
