RadCity / Re: Rad City power issue

My wife has the Rad City 5, probably 2 years old, with a Bolton controller. All has worked well until recently.
Occasionally, she will have no pas or throttle power for a second or two, then all is well. I can?t get Rad help due to the controller.
So could it be that the battery is beginning to fail, or the Bolton controller is the issue?
Any ideas would be appreciated!

I have had a similar problem with my 2 year old Radrover 5, (all stock) Mine would give me the exact same response as applying the brakes, To resume all I had to do is touch the brakes and all was good, After a year Rad customer support and myself figured out it was faulty sensors in the brake cables assembly,  To troubleshoot the problem my technique was to disconnect the brake sensor safety  both front and rear for a while, Sure enough, found out  the brake sensors to be the culprit.
Hope this helps, Paul

I have a 2020 Rover 5 and I wanted the same thing - higher and back closer to me. I bought this one and installed it with the bend pointing back toward me instead of away. It has worked great for me for a year and a half now.

Thanks for the knowledge Crorris, I will order one today,

The risers I bought were a huge disappointment, Of the 2 I bought there was not accurate adjustment on the headset bearings, Went back to stock and things adjusted as it should, I will ride just a bit too forward for the time being till I find the right one for my Radrover 5.
These are the ones I tried below, Please chime in If others got better results with different riser options.
Thanks, Paul

Before I got the riser, I reversed the stem 180 degrees.  That brought the handlebar much closer to me.  Maybe this would help in your case.  I think quite a few Mini ST2 people do this.

Thanks for the advise Eric, But,
I checked out reversing the stem on The Radrover 5, It would have put handlebar position way too far back for me on this particular bike,

I got a riser for my handlebar but I?m concerned about my cables and hydraulic lines being too tight. As I turn to the right the lines tighten up. It?s hard to tell if there is too much stress on them. I know I won?t turn the wheel 90 degrees while riding but could when handling the bike at other times. How can I tell if they are being stretched too much?

I am in the process of doing the same on my Radrover 5, The riser gets here tomorrow, Am following this thread, And will chime in with my results, By the way I put up a similar post here,      https://www.radowners.com/index.php/topic,9252.0.html
Thanks, Paul

Just installed the riser on my Radrover 5, It brought up the bar height about 3 3/4 inches. Much more upright riding position,  All the cable lengths seem fine,  When the weather clears I will go on a 15 or so mile ride to Wilders, (light trail and pavement)  and report back on how things went.

On my RR ST1 I rotated the handle bar stem 180 degrees. That moved the handle bars about 3 inches closer to the seat. After I got a riser I turned the stem back around again. The riser was enough to make a good riding position. It seemed when I had the stem 180 degrees back, I didn't have enough room between the seat and the handle bars to stand between them. Cable length wasn't a problem. I rose my bars 4.5 inches with a riser.

Thanks again for the knowledge RJP, Am getting the riser tomorrow, Will report back in with my results on the RR5 when this old body can get to it,

That will raise the bars up not back. You might be able to rotate the bars back if they weren't rotated back all the way all ready. That stem riser might be all that you need. It will definitely help. You can only go up as far as the cables to the the brake handles will allow. Make sure the cables don't get to tight when steering all the way to the right and left. Good luck!

Thanks for the knowledge and info RJP, The bar clamps on my Radrover has a few degree's of tilt back, Hoping for a bit of back from that, As well as about 2 inches of rise.

It's now apparently fine to store your classified docs in your garage now too as well, so I wouldn't worry too much about bicycle nits.  Or, do what I did long ago and just move the hell out of CA to get away from all of it.

could be worse. you could be in a state where they want to take away the rights of anyone who isn't a straight white male Christian.

Just curious,
What states want to take away the rights of law abiding citizens that are not straight
white male christians?

Or, do what I did long ago and just move the hell out of CA to get away from all of it.

I have been here in Cali. for 68 years now (all my life), I can't just pick up and move,
As BAD as it is here,  I can not leave my home of many years,
Retired, House paid off, $1750.00 in taxes yearly.
Wilders State Park 3 miles away, Bike trails everywhere, and more coming.
I feel fortunate to be in this situation, BUT, HELL, I am old, worked all my life, And now is the time to relax.
