Will any chain do?

I'm trying to help diag an issue my son is having with the Radmission bike.  His chain keeps coming off.  He is off at college, so I'm doing this over the phone.  I'm guessing he is having issues with the chain tensioner that seem to be common for this model.  I was wondering about having him try a new chain first, because he let the old chain get all rusty.  I'm guessing that bike chains are pretty standard other than they length.  Just wondering if pretty much any chain off Amazon would work, or do I need to look for certain specs.

I was going to ask if it falls off when he shifts, or any old time, but it appears that the RadMission is a single speed bike with no derailleur.

I see that radpowerbikes.ca has only one chain for sale, and the description is:

Quote3/32-inch derailleur chain. Cut to length.
Compatibility - All ebike models EXCEPT RadWagon
For customers who own a RadWagon (all model years), please contact us here.
Also, a Radmission chain tensioner replacement guide, at

The installation and adjustment part could yield some useful info.

Thank you.  On the US site, they don't list much for specifics on the chain.  But I see from your reply that they do list 3/32 on the .ca site.  I ordered a schwin 3/32 chain and a chain tool.  Hopefully he will be able to get the chain swapped out and then we will see how it does.  He did confirm for me that the old chain is very stiff.

is the chain loose?  maybe take a link out.
