I've never dealt with Bike Flights but hear good things about them. There is also Uship. A friend ships motorcycles and scooters thru them. Get the specs from Rad Power for weight and size and look into both of those options. If your really that serious (or anyone else) PM me your cell number and I'll shoot ya some detailed pictures, about 10 pictures in all. I WILL NOT exploit your cell number. If this ends up an out of state transaction I'll take a U.S.P.S. Money Order but would still love a local sale, or meet someone within my pinball stops. But I have no idea what the cost of shipping would be, so please look into it and consider the total cost compared to a new one. Again, send me a PM with a cell number and I'll send out the pictures. I should just try to post them here.

Rad Power Bikes Classifieds / RadRunner 1 in Norfolk, VA.
September 27, 2021, 07:08:24 AM
Prefer local sale. Here's what I have. Purchased around Sept. 2020 Green RadRunner 1 with the following.
Upgraded Rad headlight and display.
Rad fenders.
Pogo post and Sella seat. Also have original.
SHAD SH34 trunk.
Hafny mirrors.
HipLok chain lock.
Tannus inserts.
New rear Rad tire.
Battery always looked after.
Never crashed and wheels true. No mystery noises.
Around 2500 miles, 400ish miles on the upgraded display.
Has some paint specs from riding thru someone spraying a fence white. Not super noticeable on the front. Might come off.
I travel to Grandy NC area, Richmond, VA area and soon Charlottesville, VA (pinball) so I could meet someone interested in those areas as well. PM me if interested. Will note when it sells.
Reason for selling is I bought a new ebike and wife has no interest in a ebike. Don't need 2 ebikes.
Asking $500 FIRM.

General Chat / I love cheap people.
September 27, 2021, 06:49:16 AM
So I replaced my RadRunner 1 with an E-Lux Malibu GT. Totally different ebike compared to the 'Runner but I really like it. So about cheap people..... I have a co-worker who's been looking into ebikes for over 2 years. He always says he waiting for the newest model to come out for the best value. Keep waiting and he'll never get one. So I tell him if he wants he can borrow my 'Runner for a few weeks and if he likes it its his for $500. It has the upgraded headlight, display, pogo post and nice seat (have original also), fenders, dual mirrors, SHAD 34 liter storage trunk, HipLok chain lock, Tannus inserts and a new rear tire. Battery has always been lovingly looked after. All keys, tool kit and owners manual accounted for. He never called about it. Had someone else interested but he asked if I'd do payments! It's $500, not $5000. Was going to give it to a friend but he can't lift it into his place and his 'hood is known for higher crime, so leaving it outside just won't work. I might try listing it here as well

General Chat / Re: RadRunner 1 Chain Hop

Just learn how to remove the 2 links yourself. You purchased a mail order ebike and self service is sometimes required. My RadRunner 1 did the same thing. It got much better with some miles on it. We RadRunner 1 owners have discussed this in more depth in the RadRunner sub-form.

My RadRunner 1 has over 2000 trouble free miles. It's not the most refined ebike on the market but overall I'm very happy with it. In fact, I was considering upgrading to something more premium (Tern) but I'm unwilling to give up my throttle so I'll just get another Rad. The 20mph limit is fast enough for my needs as well.

I had the same issue with charging a battery after a long, hot ride. Just let the battery sit for about an hour before charging it.

So is this for one item or a combined order over $100? And it figures, the Suntour seat post is Out of Stock.

I was actually gonna swap over to Vee Rubber Speester tires but I want the white walls. I just put a new rear OEM Kenda on my RadRunner so I'm gonna let it wear out first. Vee Rubber makes 20" knobby tires.

RadRunner / Re: Rear basket options for RadRunner
August 03, 2021, 08:23:44 PM
I have a SHAD SH34 motorcycle trunk on my RadRunner and my wifes sister has a Cascade Topeak plate and a Topeak Trolleytote folding rear basket on a RadMini. Both easy to install/remove and meet our needs.

Service & Repair / Re: RadCity battery not charging
August 03, 2021, 08:14:41 PM
I have 2 chargers, one at the house and one at work. When I ride into work and go to charge the battery it'll go straight to "green" indicating its charged. Strange..... Anyways, if I leave it plugged in it eventually (after an hour to 2 hours) will start charging. A co-worker said the charger might not start charging because the battery was hot from being ridden wound out for 13 miles. Makes sense I guess, but I still swapped the chargers out. The problem seems to have went away now. It also hasn't been as super hot outside since swapping chargers. If I suspect anything I think it might be the plug on the battery taking a walk. Thinking of opening it up and see whats in there. Will post an update if the problem comes back or I find something weird when opening the battery up.

General Chat / Re: First flat with Tannus.
August 03, 2021, 08:05:58 PM
Alt, yes there was a bunch of black dust in there. I had to wash my hands twice! I'm a clean hands diva.

down, the price vs. value is subjective. On every ebike forum people have deep discussions about the various methods of flat protection. I've used Mr. Tuffy tire liners on all my analog bikes and had great luck with them. I tried Slime tubes but got a small hole and got sprayed with neon green Slime while riding to the beach for a night of partying. I hate Slime now. I tried Tannus because it was something different AND they claim you can technically ride on a flat with Tannus liners! I've yet to test it (my flat was discovered in the morning in my garage) and I hope I never have to.

We ebike owners with hub drives secretly fear the rear flat! The rear wheel is an extra pain to remove due to weight and wire complexity. My overall discovery is Kenda has the weakest flat protection of all the so-called flat protection enhanced tire brands.

I suspect I have a failed bearing in my bottom bracket as well. I makes a crunch noise, mostly on the right pedal. I checked the crank arms for tightness, swapped pedals and the noise is still there. I'll get around to pulling it apart soon and see what failed. Still usable but its getting louder. No play in the cranks yet.

I don't speak fork specs concerning the differences but you have my attention. Keep us updated!

General Chat / Re: First flat with Tannus.

First thing, my wheel marking ritual. I put a paint pen dot on one/same side of the: Valve stem. Rim. Tire. All in a nice, neat row. This way when I pull the tire and tube off the rim I know how everything lined up, no matter how mixed up it gets. This system helps make sure you can trace back whatever caused the flat and ensures the cause isn't still present. Now onto the flat cause.

Something small and sharp poked thru the tire, Tannus and put the tiniest of holes in the dead center of the tube. I originally thought it could have been a seam failure but the tiny hole was ragged and actually slightly off center of the seam. Nothing was found lodged in the tire or Tannus. I used my Slime Scab patch kit, lined up the paint dots and inflated to 20psi. Back on the road!

Some of you are wondering if removing the tire with a Tannus is as bad as installing them new. New you'll need burly tire levers that can lock onto your over-sized spokes. But shockingly everything came off without a fight and went back on with no curse words or blood.

Yup, I woke up this morning to a flat tire. I have Tannus installed but I'm fully aware nothing is 100%. At least it was the front tire! Anyways, I gotta pull the wheel and see whats going on. I've come to the conclusion that the Kenda tire factory must be near the Laffy Taffy factory and get their rejects for Kenda puncture liners. I'll post my findings when I get it apart/fixed.

General Chat / Re: crow foot for Pedal wrench
July 28, 2021, 09:17:32 PM
I also used the supplied wrench and it did just fine. I normally carry a dedicated pedal wrench in the glove box of my car (to reduce space when buying thrift store bikes) but my car was in the shop.

Funny story. When I had a Pedego I wanted cool pedals. So I track down some FBM Ride the Lightning pedals. I go to remove the Wellgo pedals and broke a wrench! Wow, that was weird. Got a better wrench and ended up starting to round out the pedal shaft. So I take it to a bike shop. It took the bike shop 2 wrenches and almost 45 minutes to get the pedals off! I end up stopping by the shop that sold the Pedego and asked about the pedals being "Crazy tight!' and was told they were that tight because he had a pedal come off of a bike as a kid! Note that most Wellgo pedals are spaced to use a cookie cutter box end wrench from pretty much any toolbox. But those Ride the Lightning pedals looked so good!
