Title: RadMini Unfolding Stem
Post by: Frank82 on December 21, 2020, 05:02:54 PM
Hello! Does anyone change the stem for a regular one (not folding) on a RadMini? I just broke it and i wondering it's possible to change for something more heavy duty.

I have a RadMini 2017.

Thanks!!

I have seen a person who put a BMX style handlebar on a Lectric XP on YouTube. I'll look it up and get details. The most important thing is getting a stem to match our RadMini headtube. I'll research it and get back to you. If anyone else has details, please share!

I've not seen a RadMini in person but I'm assuming its a 1" threadless stem (like my RadRunner) but with a adjustment mechanism. My beach cruiser has the exact same stem as my RadRunner, A 1" threadless with a 25.4mm clamp for the handlebars (again, my beach cruiser). I bought a Promax 1" Impact stem for my beach cruiser so I can use "normal" 1", aka 22.2mm, clamp size for handlebars. Sorry this sounds confusing. My local bike shop sells the exact same stem that's on my RadRunner and beach cruiser. The stem on my beach cruiser is still being used because the 22.2 clamp area bars I want are sold out because of Covid, so the Promax Impact is still in the box. But if I wanted to run bmx handlebars on my Rad I could now do it with the Promax. Note that the Promax is for a "mini" bmx so its rather small looking but I think it would be fine on my beach cruiser.

But I think the replacement you need is a 1" threadless with a 25.4mm clamp area, like the "dead stock" one at my local bike shop.

Sc00ter is right, and I was able to find related parts on amazon.
You will need a threadless converter like https://amzn.to/2MooIfL
A stem like https://amzn.to/3tkSu5B , but you may want to go with a taller one.
And a spacer set like this https://amzn.to/36xjYeI

Make sure you verify the diameter of the converter, and that the stem will fit the new handlebars.
