Hi Altema. Thanks for that explanation - makes perfect sense. I too have seen plenty of regular bikes blasting down bike paths, passing walkers and other bikers, with what seems to be no regard for others' safety. The challenge is how to encourage better road manners for all, since it is too easy for towns to just blame e-bikes. I'm not sure how to encourage better ridership, but it seems like we need to do something.

OK, so let me start by saying I love my Radrunner Plus and love to ride. The whole e-bike industry has been a great thing for many riders. But I am trying to understand why so many owners are ready to mod their bikes as soon as they get them to make them go faster. I know, speed is fun, biking is fun. But if you want something that goes really, really fast - buy something designed for that speed, and drive it in a safe and legal way. Every time I turn around I see cities and towns banning e-bikes on bike paths and trails because riders are not respecting speed limits and are causing safety concerns. As an e-bike community, let's make sure our choices and behaviors support the industry and encourage local communities to embrace and encourage e-bike ridership rather than find new reasons to ban us!

I'm sure this post may kick up some strong opinions. I'm all ears and welcome respectful and constructive exchange.

Hey there. I have a radrunner plus and am similar height/inseam. The only way you'll probably be able to stop and touch the ground while still seated is if you keep the original, incredibly uncomfortable seat. As soon as I added a suspension post and decent seat I lost the ability to stay seated and safely reach the ground while seated. Rad's specs on the bike are a bit misleading - they state the distance from seat to the bottom of the pedal stroke. They really should also provide a measurement from the seat to the ground, as that is an important measurement, especially for shorter riders.

Thanks for the reply Sirch. I get that Rad doesn't want to take on any liability. I was just hoping they could let me know what the diameter spec's were for the handlebars, both at the stem and at the end where the throttle would go. Anyhow, quick question re: the handlebars you are looking at: I have the RR+, with the display mounted on the crossbar. Are you looking at these bars for the standard RR or the Plus? If the RR+, would the display just be mounted at an angle?

OK, so I have given the runner many many months and miles and I honestly cannot stand (i.e. hate) the handlebars. They are much too high for me and way too close (and yes, I tried pivoting them away from me). I am finding it difficult to find a suitable alternative that will work with the Rad stem and have the correct diameter for the throttle and have a crossbar for the display. Rad's less than helpful response was to return the bike as it is "clearly not suited to me". This is not an option as I am past the return period, which I am sure the customer service rep knew. Their customer service was awesome during the initial purchase and when FedEx damaged the bike, but much less than helpful now. I am sure there must be a solution that doesn't require selling the bike and purchasing something else. Any suggestions greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Looks like a great idea. I am curious - which version of FlatOut did you purchase? Sportsman? Multi-purpose?

Hi SoCal - wondering if the compact foldylock length is working out well for you. I'm trying to decide if the compact is the right choice or if I should go with the extra length and weight of the classic for my RadRunner Plus.

If you just bought it you should consider calling the support folks at Rad. They are awesome and will probably be able to help you more quickly than posting here!

I have the radrunner plus, which has a less than impressive seat. I opted for a GRM replacement seat and DJC seat post from amazon. Totally comfortable with this combo.

Wow, sorry to hear that. FedEx seems to beat these boxes quite a bit. I watched, horrified, as their driver cartwheeled my bike off the back of their truck, allowing it to slam to the ground rather than use the truck's hydraulic lift. Sadly, the bike was indeed damaged. Next delivery - I made it obvious that I was video taping the bike being unloaded from the truck, which resulted in much better handling. That said, it would appear that much could go on behind the scenes that is damaging bikes during transport.

Rad was awesome in handling the issue for me. Just be persistent - and courteous - and I'm sure they'll get you rolling ASAP.

I did just what anotherviktor did and have the same question. I never considered that the handlebar inner diameter would go from small to smaller (!) and not accommodate the Hafny bar end mirror. If anyone has any suggestions that would be great. Drilling out the inside seems potentially risky, but I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks sc00ter. I think I will first try to keep the stock stem. Do you know what the diameter is of the stock handlebars? I'm wondering if I could find something that might work without the need for shims.

Nice idea re: the low BMX style bars. I'll have to take a look at that. Seems like moving everything over to new bars would be fairly straight forward as there shouldn't be any issues with cable lengths. I just would need to find one that is about the same diameter. Thanks.

I've had my Radrunner about a month now, and I am still not loving the high rise handlebars and am wondering if anyone has replaced the stock bars with something a bit more conventional. The stock bars are too high and too close for me. Any suggestions greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Regarding the bikes, both are good, but with different features like you already noticed. The RadRunner Plus has the integrated rack and a passenger seat, and also has a suspension fork and a 7 speed drivetrain which the regular RadRunner does not have.

It's a nice package, and aside from having to replace the seat post to fit some seats, the only advantages of the mini are the folding feature and slightly less weight, and the ability to add a custom rear rack. If you do decide on the Mini though, have no fear about durability. I ride mine hard and even go on mountain bike trails, and the ability to fold has not shown any weaknesses.

Hey, Thanks Altema. Much appreciated. I'm curious if you or others have any thoughts about the high-rise type handlebars on the Radrunner Plus. I'm so used to flatter mountain bike handlebars. Is the high-rise more/less comfortable than the more traditional bars on the mini? How 'bout maneuverabilit? y, height adjustment, etc? Thanks again.
