Title: Bad Controller?
Post by: rhoran22 on July 30, 2020, 05:49:40 PM
Hi Folks,

Recently my 2017 Rad Rover stopped powering up.  I debugged and found the following:

1. Checked all connectors to insure they were clean and properly seated
2. Checked the battery (I have 2).  Both were charged and still no power to the bike.
3. Checked the screen by connecting the screen from my other bike (was able to do this without removing from my other bike).  Screen works fine.

Only thing I can figure is the controller module has gone bad.  I could pull the module off my other bike but wanted to check this forum first.  Rad Power Bikes help line has not responded to any of my requests and it appears they have taken down their help line phone number.

Has anyone run into a situation where the controller has gone bad?  Not even sure where I can get a new controller although I did see some upgrade kits online (would appreciate a recommendation).

Please send me your thoughts.  Thanks.

Ron H

Hi Ron, it would be very odd for Rad to not help you out here. Perhaps you will hear back soon...

If not, I'd probably get the controller from Bolton - website reports it will work with your 2017 model: https://boltonebikes.com/collections/motor-controllers-and-displays/products/2019-radpower-upgrade-kit-with-tail-light
