I took my rad mini step thru out of my shed and a piece of plastic fell to the ground. My magnetic disc broke off? Anyone else experience this and how much does it cost for the piece? i don't see it on the site? and how would this break off? is it defective? My bike was sitting upright in my shed all winter, nothing leaning on it.

Amazon has a couple of split disks that can be mounted without removing the crank arm, which requires a special tool.

This one should work - https://amzn.to/3Peb0Km
This device plugs into the controller on your bike.

However you are still going to need a crank puller,   there is a good article on the RAD site on how to do it,  also the puller is available on amazon.  You could check with a bike shop to see if they would pull the crank for you. This would probably be inexpensive and cheaper than purchasing the tools you may need.   Repair is easy but only if you have the tools. Rad should have the replacement disc but getting in contact with them can be very frustrating.

I see that that one has only 8 magnets, vs. 12 on the original.
Is that an important distinction to make?

If that's the  case of plastic fatigue you should have found all the missing parts on the ground, otherwise someone must have damaged it.

From the image you have posted this is the closest match. Shipping charges are probably more expensive than the mag disc (just guessing). https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003032092496.html
Literally is LITERALLY the most annoying word of the decade.
