Rad Modifications / Dual headlights brightness
September 06, 2023, 09:14:55 AM
From reading this forum. I understand the standard headlights has 0.135a, 7w, and 51.8v
If this correct, if I wired 2 headlights in parallel would the current double up? I also don?t believe I need to add a fuse.

I am just wondering how it would affect the brightness of the headlights.

General Chat / Re: What?s going on at Rad???

@SemperVee
As I waited impatiently for the arrival of my City+. I am glad to hear that. I have been reading a lot here and taking notes of user experiences.

And I?ve wondered if some of the troubles were the result of ?if it ain?t broke, don?t fix? situation.
Secondly, Has anyone done a survey regarding users having controller issues. keeping their bikes stock vs unlocking their speed/watts?

I for one thought I was being cheated by having a 500w motor and still pay the same as the 750w version. Therefore my initial thought was just to unlock as soon as warranty expires. I know better now that it?s not that simple.

My motivation to get an electric bike was to help me on hills. I think I will be content in having a 500w without modifications. Unfortunately I won?t know until I have my bike.

The concept is not new. Motorcyclist has been using it for years. Search ?Motorcycle Bluetooth Headsets? in your browser.

Hello,

I was able to get the Ibera rack installed on my 2 RR6+ and posted the success.
(Search for Ibera w/i the Rad Modifications section).
I provided some instructions and photos.

There was some trial and error, and very minor fabrication.

If any RR6+ owners have questions or find my post confusing, feel free to reach out so that I can give back to the forum, and improve my post.
PVS.

I think I like the IB-RA5 better than IB-RA4. How about this sear collar as an alternative mounting points?

The big clue is that if I gently push the wire towards the rear of the bike (near where the wire enters the throttle), then the throttle kicks in and works fine.

You could be shorting something. Have you tried cutting some of the zip ties to get more slack?

I liked the last two images. A little more expensive than kneeling pads but it looked cool.

im thinking of taking the wires inside the horn fron it's internal battery to make the connection.
Is this the alarm you have? If yes, doesn't this means your internal voltage is 5v?

RadCity / Re: Rad City 5 reliability?
September 01, 2023, 08:01:28 AM
While awaiting for my bike to be delivered. I have been stalking this board for helpful information from people that have already experienced headaches. And from what I have read, the product is reliable enough mechanically. And most of the complaints are directed towards the electrical or software.

Which is fine by me. I am comfortable dealing with anything electrical/software.

RadCity / Is it really Special?

I swear I thought it said Special Edition when I was looking at the RADcity 5+ last month.
But now I cannot see it anywhere in their website.
What makes it special?
I bought the orange tiger colour.

As a new owner who has not received his eBike yet. Merci

I was also wondering if the US has a different motor than the Canadian version. I am glad that it is capable of upgrading to higher wattage.

After the warranty period is over. I will order one from the US and have it shipped to a mail drop off service like http://247parcel.com/

RadCity / Re: GPS options for Radcity
August 29, 2023, 02:53:11 PM
The following remarks are purely my opinion and not based on any written facts:

Originally I was using a product called Tile. But it's crap, it cost me a lot of frustration looking for items that I misplaced. Then Apple came out with Airtags. I loved it but it's still has it's flaws. No subscription but you need another Apple device like iPhone, iPad, or an iCloud account in able to look for your lost items. I don't know enough about the technology behind Airtags. But I do not think it's based on GPS  or even "cellular tower triangulations". I am guessing it's similar to bouncing a signal and measuring the returned signal.

"Is GPS tracking useless in the event of theft?" useless is such a strong word. I believe Airtags are useful tool in locating your lost items. Recovering them is another story. I have heard of stories where a lost item was reported to police. But the police were reluctant to assist due to privacy issues. They have to be convinced without a doubt that the property you reported are yours with proper documentations.

One of the great thing about Airtag is the ability of other Airtag users to help you find your lost item but it's also one of it's flaws. If a thief has an iPhone, you just made him aware that the item he stole has an Airtag.

This is a two part post.
It seemed the chatter regarding this issue has died down (the last post was May 2023). So has RAD Power Bikes resolved this issue? Just the same, once my bike arrives. I think the first thing I would do is cut a one inch tape and tape it over the charging port. This is to remind me that I am putting something in the wrong hole. Electric tape are cheap compare to blowing your fuse.

Secondly, if the issue has not gone away. I'd like to revive it because it's good and very helpul thread that could save a lot of people money.

I have read from page 1 to 8 and it seemed RAD Power Bikes insulted a lot of RAD owners. Instead of listening and made changes. They did the opposite made life more difficult for the owners.

I thought adding a circuit breaker style fuse like what you see on household powerbars is a simple solution that doesn't require redesigning the battery.

My timing was impeccable. I just joined this forum after I have put my order through a week ago. Still waiting for my bike to arrive. Have I made a wrong move purchasing a RAD bike?
