RadWagon / Re: Radwagon 4 with new Vee 22x3 speedsters

I wonder if these are the tires Rad will be dispatching to effected RW4 owners?

My Panier has a strap on the backside to tie to the bike frame.

There are other ways to accomplish this.  1/2-inch aluminum rod, shaped Teflon spaces, 2-Stainless fasteners.

Huge lock proved a challenge to mount on the bike.

This arrangement appears to work well.

RadWagon / Re: Kickstand Options for RW4

The primary reason I ditched the center stand for a kick stand is so that I can get the bike to lean over to facilitate security.

When on a center stand, the bike frame is much too far from the bike rack to accommodate the 'HipLok D1000' U-lock.  It's the only lock in the world that's angle-grinder proof.

It's a heavy lock, but you can lock up your Rad with confidence.

Just received this email from Rad:

Dear Sir,

At Rad Power Bikes, you and your safety are our top priority. We appreciate your patience with us as we work through a solution in regards to the tire and rim strip issues we previously contacted you about. For reference, those notices are available on our website.

Some customers have asked why we estimated a solution would take 2-3 months so we wanted to provide some context and assure you we are working diligently to get high quality, reliable replacement parts as soon as possible.

Here is what is going on behind the scenes:

First, our Quality Assurance team needed to complete their investigation and verify the root of the issues.
As soon as we confirmed the problem with ribbed tires and the potential misalignment of the rim strip on the RadWagon 4, we immediately began working with global suppliers for replacement tires and a new rim strip. We never want your ride to be sidelined again so we?ve been putting the new tires and rim strips through the wringer with rigorous testing to ensure they exceed our quality and durability standards.
Simultaneously, we?ve been working with our manufacturing partners to secure expedited production capacity so they are ready to produce the tires and rim strips as soon as the testing is completed successfully.
As the new tires become available, we will be air freighting them and preparing for distribution.
Once we have the new tires and rim strips in stock, we will contact you to book your complimentary service appointments and get you back to riding, as soon as possible. We will be reaching out to you with a follow up email with more details within 30 days.

If you have any questions about this email please contact Rad Customer Service at RadFix@radpowerbikes.com or 1-844-406-2703.

Thank you again for your patience and for being a loyal Rad Power Bikes customer and member of the ebike movement.

The adjustable portion of the kickstand is made from some type of plastic, so I very much doubt it could support a fully loaded RD4.

However, it works just fine when loading groceries.

All I got was a confirmation auto-reply once I completed their on-line form.

Not sure if this will work for you, but I installed a kickstand on my RW4.  AliExp has a few different kickstand configurations which may work for you.

RadWagon / Kickstand Options for RW4
October 04, 2022, 07:18:26 PM
For those who are looking to ditch the heavy center stand on their RW4, there's a nice option on AliExpress that fits with minor adjustments.

To get the mounting bracket to fit snuggly inside the confines of the bottom bracket, you'll need to remove about 1mm of material from the kickstand mounting bracket.  Easy enough to do with a file or grinder.  Afterwhich, it will bolt right up using existing RW4 hardware.

Super strong and easy to use.

Extra bonus...no more tearing up the garage floor!

I followed up via their tech support who confirmed I'm on the list for new tires.  No ETA....only another warning not to ride the bike.

Replaced my RD4 tires yesterday with the spares I purchased with the bike.  Odd how the bike was delivered with ribbed tires, but the spares I purchased were smooth.

Now, what to do with the old tires?
#28
I purchased My RW4 a few weeks ago and am of course upset with the current situation.

Upon inspection, it appears that my RW has a smooth rear tire, and a ribbed front.  Fortunately, I had the foresight to purchase a spare tire when I picked up the bike....and it happens to be of the smooth variety.   :) :)

I plan to do the swap myself.  When the replacement arrives from Rad (in 2-3 months), I'll put it in safe-keeping.

The rubber spoke-liner seems to be a separate issue and reflects poor assembly.  I can't see how an inner spoke puncture can cause a tire to EXPODE!!

You'll need to fab a mounting bracket as the RW frame is too large to accommodate the RW bag mounting brackets.  I used a 1/2" solid aluminum rod with teflon frame spacers to accommodate the Rhinowalk pannier mounting clips.

Whats the width distance between the rear screwholes? is it 4 inches? thanks in advance

The mounting rod I fab'd is 12-inches long with the holes at 9-1/2" apart.  As this is a DIY, you have flexibility where you can drill the holes
