How To Information / Re: Tips for Washing your bike?
September 10, 2022, 07:42:15 AM
I wipe mine down with "Equate" flushable wipes. Cheap, quick and easy. Everything  but the brakes and tire tread.

what bike are you riding with that psi?

The Rover6. 15psi is the minimum for the GMD tires.

meh. i'm not sure it matters at this point.

went out this morning to check my bike, and the new tube was flat. I hadn't even ridden it yet.

brought the tire into REI to have them inspect it, because there had to be something in the tire I missed that led to the second flat.

First guy checked it, didn't find anything. Second guy checked it, and found the tiniest of splinters. TINIEST.

bought another new tube, got things reinstalled, and went for a test ride. Things seem hunky dory.

It had moments of frustration, but I'm feeling pretty accomplished about this, and have definitely gotten to know my bike better.

Yup. I found one in each tire and yanked them out. (GMD tires came as original equipment, not Kenda. )

I was still loosing air slowly, topping them off daily until FLATOUT made its appearance.

16 psi everyday and holding!

Same here. Just put new pads on. The rear were toast while the front still had alot of meat but they are worn at an angle. Cleaned the new pads and both rotors with alcohol and Bam!, quiet, smooth and stop like never before.

Service & Repair / Re: RAD 6+ NO MOTOR POWER
September 07, 2022, 06:20:52 PM
I feel your pain.
Mine broke down on the first day.
2 weeks for a new controller from Rad.  Oops...need some new torx keys now,  I don't own any 6, 7 or 8's. Another week passes waiting for them . Wasn't the controller. Rad then sent a new wiring harness. 2 weeks later...Nope, not that. And another 2 weeks, As Rad sends me a new Controller UI.
Finally we're rolling again.

On the upside, I have some hard to get  spare parts.

Good luck to you.  Keep on posting.

Just did my first rear wheel removal straight out of work in the parking lot at night.  Cut a couple of zip ties and disconnect the motor connector. Wrench the wheel and remove the tourqe arm hex bolt, tada!   I knew the day was coming when I had to do it, dreading every second.  It's actually easy peasy. Don't be afraid of it.

I didn't use a tourqe device,  just good n' tight on the axle, checking it after a few miles..

True that. It doesn't need to be passionate. Be aggressive!

Just a guess but I would also check the Torque Arm.

Does anyone else have this issue and come up with a solution?

Jim

Spit helps.  If I remember right.

RadRover / Re: RadRover 6+ Brake Pads

I purchased some online and they were a smidgen too big. I eyeballed my hammer and decided against it.
I called RPB, and at $25 a set  :o, I ordered 2.  Surprisingly, the 2nd set was no charge.
And with free shipping,  I'm warm and fuzzy.

Those look pretty good and the main thing is that, if you ride at night, too much is not enough.

Thanx, Half of my commute is moonshine time.  I'm really impressed on how these stickers reflect even in daylight.

Radiculous, Looks like your front tire is rolling backwards.

HaHa, It is isn't it.  I thought it sounded a little off.

Brake pads are dust.  Ordered what I hoped would fit online.
So.... while I'm waiting for my RadPads to arrive, put some 3m reflective rim stickers on.
Is it too much?..., I'm thinking 🤔

General Chat / Re: Rear view camera vs. mirror
August 27, 2022, 05:24:30 PM
Personally, I would invest in a mirror without hesitation.  While a cockpit cam is koolbeans, it's vulnerable to failure.

I use 2 CORKY Urban Bike Folding  Rear-view Handlebar Mirrors. They are tiny and take some getting used too.
I have the road side adjusted so I can see an object in the mirror and  my peripheral simultaneously. While the  curbside is angled enough inward so I can see my bike rack and beyond.

If one gets busted, your still good to go.  If that one doesn't survive either, at least I'll have a mirror fragment that can be used with some kind of mounting hack.

RadRover / Re: PROPER CHARGING SEQUENCE

(3)   Best to plug the female connector into the battery 1st (this will protect your controller) then put charging plug into desired surge protected outlet.  I use an extension with a surge protected outlet that I can turn on and off.  When I am done charging, I leave plug in the extension unit and turn the outlet off.  I remove the female connection from the battery.  When I charge again the plug extension plug socket is off and I can plug in the female directly to the battery 1st then turn on the plug extension socket to recharge the battery.  Thus no continuous plugging of the charger to a wall outlet.

Well said.  In addition,  I also run a fan across the the charger to keep it cool.  I recently just started using the power on switch on the surge protector as the final step after I noticed some sparks when plugging the charger into the powered on surge protector.

I've adapted this sequence to all my rechargeable gizmos. OCD at its finast.
