Which exact size did you buy ?

I definitely agree that the stability issues are solved by better tread.

40-584 650B 27.5x1.50 are the only ones listed on Schwalbe web site to fit the rim

If so, I?m curious how the thinner tires are behaving?

Thanks

The first thing I noticed after switching out from the stock VEE tire that came with the RC5+ was increased comfort and stability.

Onto gravel or back onto pavement making a transition seems much more secure with no wobble  or floating at the side of the road. And that is with just the rear switched out.

Also I am wanting to do a little hard packed dirt roads as not all of my best routes are on only pavement. Yay now I am not as afraid of dirt roads.

The Evos are the foldable ones and they were extremely easy to install.

These tires have the exact same tread as the MARATHON E-PLUS.(e-50)
Using the exact same watts 27.5 at 60 psi and 24.5 watts at 70 psi.

They are a little lighter so only e-25 rated and not e-50 as the heavier and newer E-PLUS.
Tires are getting hard to get right now because of supply chain issues.

PS, the ENERGIZER PLUS also looks interesting too, they are a little lighter again and have even better rolling results. 47-584 (27.5x1.75)

And the Schwalbe Big Ben Plus HS439 27.5 inch are the ultimate OEM replacement tire.
To save money look no further

RadCity / Re: RadCity 4 vs. RadCity 5 Plus Speed

2 is for tailwind and 3 is for head wind. 4 and 5 are hill climbing or fooling around.

Both of our city 5 + step over bikes came that way.

It?s all part of the learning curve.

I changed my motor assist level maximum to 25 mph or 40 kph from 20 mph or 32kph.

I too felt like I was always hitting a wall at the very approachable 20 mph cut off.

The 25 mph cut off is much more natural feeling and I?m never aware of the bike slowing me down. It isn?t often I go 25, but sometimes I crest past 20.

I still ride with respect on bike paths @20 mph and if I?m threading through people I?m slowed down and always in PAS I.

This mod does not force one to speed and it does not change the power output, which is for me is 500 watts in Canada.

Check out the handlebar post adjustments. I lowered mine to 25 degrees.  By rotating the bar riser forward I was able to move it effectively forward. The handlebars can be rotated upwards to compensate for the height you want.

General Chat / Re: RadRunner or RadCity ?
June 04, 2022, 09:14:31 PM
At 6 ft we both chose the City high step. We could not imagine anything smaller. The front shock does well with hard 2 inch tires. They feel pretty solid at full pressure 60 PSI. Thing is they really roll along nicely and we quite often only use PAS level 2 saving energy for uphill and against the wind where we use Level 3. I got the suntour seat post too and that does a great job of creating the illusion of a rear suspension making it feel like the front and rear sometimes compress evenly.
I?m also impressed with the way the Rad City uses it?s integrated rear rack to re-enforce the rear end. Great idea.
I also like the front handle bar adjustment that allowed me to extend the reach ( as the stem rotates downwards it actually gets moved further ) so my hands now fall more naturally on the grips. The handle bars roll back and forth for final adjustments.
I also noted that by moving the seat backward all the allowable way I sometimes kicked the frame and the kick stand.
Simply moving It a little forward from that maybe 1/4 of an inch. The kicking stoped.

I?m biased and my first e-bike.

General Chat / Re: RadCity 5 plus dead battery?

Just curious was it the charger.?

We just got a couple of RC5+ high step. Bikes they are incredible!

The front shocks are indispensable, they enable you to keep your tires hard for better rolling resistance.

Yesterday we went for a 28 mile round trip. With mostly PAS level 2 on the first half and level 3 against the wind on the return half.

We still had half of our battery?s left.

I?m sure the fender will be easy to mount do they include it.?

Enjoy!

Get the Rad City 5 + step through. At 5ft10inchs  It will fit you perfectly  :-)

I like the thinner wheels, because you could pedal it home even if you ran out of battery.

I have the step over and I am 6 ft and could not imagine anything smaller.

But you can👍

I had a couple of fenix uc35?s hanging around.

1000 lumins and recharge via usb. Tesla battery etc?
A bit pricey, but in my humble opinion an amazing quality product.

Anyhow they make a bicycle handlebar mount that features quick release.
ALB-10

Terrific amount of light has me feeling like a vehicle and not a pedestrian.
I used the quick release feature right away to find something that dropped my first night ride.

Have you/you could try to change it programmatically? When you are in program mode (for example, to change the time), press and hold the PAS down button and the light button and soon it will change to allow watt and top speed changes. I am here in the US so I'm 750W and there is no higher, I kept my speed the same as 20MPH is fine for me. Also I apologize if the key sequence is not quite correct but once you get into program mode it's as I describe or it's the up, down and light key, press and hold all at the same time until display changes. I don't blame you for wanting more watts, not all motors are the same, they should just regulate speed, never power.

Well, I'm sorry to hear that.

I still think you will find it's the watts you are after.

Take care and best of luck!

Oh, you could always move over here to the states?!? LOL

Hi!

Yes thats actually what i did. Unfortunately I can increase the max. Speed just till 32 km/h. (There ist no Watt setting also no throttle in the EU Version)

In the US Version you can increase Up to 40km/h.
I dont think they changed the Motor, I Just think they somehow limited the Controller.

I dont need much More Watts. But the additional 8 km/h would add significant benefits. As you have to pedal almost constantly to Reach 32km/h Else it stays around 27 km/h.

Thats why i was thinking about getting the US Controller and Display and maybe the Motor in Case they somehow User a different Motor there...

I agree the limiter just saps your fun. It's Better turned up.

Mine under full blast pedalling, full 500 watt power ( Canadian ) hits the wall at 38 km.
