Rad Modifications / Re: Gears for RadRunner
November 22, 2022, 06:08:32 AM
I've seen mod videos on YouTube of Runner owners that have added a 7-speed freewheel to their bikes but it sounded like a lot of work to get it done and I've only seen it done with a different hub motor added. I have a Runner Plus and, as Tacomanatx mentioned, I almost 100% of the time ride in only 1 gear regardless. Though I live in a mostly flat area with only minor hills now and again.

Otherwise, I'd say a 35amp controller upgrade would give you the extra torque to get up the hills instead if you need it.

That looks really great! Definitely adds a unique look and flair to the Rover

Came across this while cleaning the garage. Looks like a part to a Rad accessory. Anyone know what it?s for?

Sorry, doesn't look like anything that I've ever seen from Rad.

General Chat / Re: Lectric xp 2.0 vs radrunner plus
November 13, 2022, 06:20:35 AM
That is a really tough choice between the two... if I had to buy my Runner Plus again I'm not sure what I'd go with.

I have the Runner Plus and have looked into Lectric bikes (though I don't have one). Honestly, I'd say since the XP 3.0 is out, Rad Power Bikes is going to have to really step up their game soon. With the 150lbs rear rack capacity on the 3.0, there's not a lot of reason to go with the Runner 2 or Plus other than the more durable frame and stronger motor on the Runners.

As Altema mentioned, the motor torque ratings on both bikes are different but I feel that the Rad controllers are so dialed down that they don't let you use the motor anywhere near its full potential regardless. The 3.0 motor is 500 watts but peaks at 1000 vs the 750-watt motors are locked to a max 750 watts on the Runner+ (without any 3rd party upgrades).

Heck, you could buy an XP 3.0 with the bigger battery and buy a 750watt nominal motor and still come in way below the price of a Runner Plus or pretty much break even with a Runner 2.

I'd assume the XP 3.0 with the 14Ah battery is going to be eating up a lot of market share that the Runner2/+ had secured for itself.

RadRunner / Re: Radrunner Plus - Hydraulic Brake Swap
September 27, 2022, 03:01:25 PM
Thank you for the rundown!

I did the swap out for the hydraulic brakes that Area 13 is selling on my Runner Plus, almost went with the BGB brake set but went with the 4 pistons instead. The installation was surprisingly easy and the performance is great.

Definitely recommend!

Rad Modifications / Re: Eggrider for Radrunner Plus

Hello,

Can someone recommend me some online store in Europe where i can buy the eggrider v2 for my radrunner plus?

The two stores i found are out of stock.

Thank you and good rides :)

Been looking into buying a Eggrider for my Expand in the states and I've only found 2 locations that carry a Rad compatible version. Big Game Bikes and the Eggrider store itself. BGB is OOS and want $150+ USD and the Eggrider site had them in stock (now OOS) but only accepted bank transfers as payment, which has me a bit uneasy.

If anyone knows of anywhere else let me know!

I just installed the35a controller with color LCD (bought from electrobikeworld on sale for 209 for the kit). I found a couple examples of settings for the RR and have tried those out. Definitely a big improvement in acceleration, but I was hoping to eek out a couple extra MPH for top speed. Speedo is saying I'm topping out at 24 with throttle on flat pavement, pedaling I can get 25-26mph, but I'm pedaling hard to get up there. Are there any other settings I can tweak or things I should check if anyone else has this kit installed on an RR+?

I had the Runner Plus with the 35amp controller with the stock motor and would get about the same speed you're getting. A controller will up your torque but only a new motor or higher voltage battery will up your top speed.

I made a video about how to speed up your Rad if you want to check it out: https://youtu.be/SF6-mo2eSj0

Has anyone tried to 3D print their own? I recently discovered that some public libraries will allow you to 3D print there (free or small charge for the materials) but I haven't looked into it as of yet.

I thought my experience while upgrading my chainring would help out some people who are thinking of switching out their stock 48T RRunner+ to something else.

Hi all, just a quick post to say that the passenger seat setup linked above works great on my radrunner 2 — in case anyone else is looking for a good alternative to Rad's passenger seat options.

Thank you for the update. Did you have to mod it in any way or did everything line up to just bolt it on?

Awesome, what controller is this? I've been flirting with the idea of upgrading my 35A controller lately. Wondering what other more powerful options are out there.

Rad Modifications / Re: Turn signals

Depends on how you ride. I added turn signals to my Runner+ but rarely have to use them since I mainly try to ride on bike/walk trails. However, when I do ride on the streets I'm glad I have them.

Video I made about my setup: https://youtu.be/tNjq6wctpLI

I had a similar horn that I purchased from Amazon and it worked pretty well. I didn't like having to charge it every so often especially when it's bolted onto the bike so I couldn't simply just take it into my house and recharge when needed. I also didn't like the relatively big button on my handlebars since they were getting pretty cluttered with other buttons, switches, and mirrors.

When I added my motorcycle headlight and turn signals I switched it out for a 12v motorcycle horn since the main switch had the option as well.

I really didn't notice a huge loss in ride distance when I upgraded my controller from stock to the 35 amp.  What kind of distance were you getting before the switch?

RadRunner / Re: where'd you add your second battery?
February 14, 2022, 08:09:49 AM
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HrvXvJkpWBk&t=1s

Finished installing second battery to where the stock Rad battery is located and moved the Rad battery to under the rear rack. There have been a few minor tweeks since I uploaded this video (cable cleanup and moved the dual-battery adapter)

It can be a bit of a pain putting on and taking off the battery but it works great.
