Rad Modifications / Re: Portable pumps
May 30, 2021, 11:02:19 PM
I have the Xiaomi portable pump that pplupo linked in the first post. Xiaomi makes great hardware and lousy software. This pump has no software so it's a good pump. It took 3 minutes to pump up my 3" x 20" tire to 30 psi.

Thanks for the peak inside the Rad battery pack. Are the cells 18650? What is the branding on the cells? Thanks

I think you are talking about the connection at the top of the Suntour where it grabs the 2 rails under the seat. You have to make the 2 rails match the Suntour. I used a vise. In my case the 2 rails needed to be squeezed together. Now it should work without any Loctite.

I have the Suntour Rad sells and not had any issues at 600 miles. What 2 bolts are you having issues with? Loctite has a red version that really holds.

I'd buy your SmartSwitch2 just so I could use my Rad charger efficiently. I have the Luna charger, so I would use your switch + Rad charger at a remote location.

RadMini / Re: Assembly Question - Front Tire

Welcome TopDownDriver. The video does tell you to turn it 2 clicks, and I did it too, with the same results, so I turned it back to the original position. I guess Rad just wanted to make new users aware of the brake adjustment.

That's an awesome idea for someone hauling passengers. Love It!

My experence on their website is abysmal, I can't even log into my own account! I told them "you need to fix this" they did nothing! Call them!

I think you are talking about the 8mm male plug from the charger plugging into the female connector on the battery. As long as you are not having charging problems, you're good!

I'm using a $100 U-Haul bike rack with 85# capacity carrying one Mini. Had to make some mods to make it work, anyway I now cruise the trail parking lots to see what others are using. Recently seen this pretty unique design: https://www.1up-usa.com/product-category/bike-racks/

My 2020 Mini came with 3" smooth tires. They show them on their website.

You need to wire 4 - 12v solar panels together to = 48v. Solar panel voltage changes a lot depending on Sun exposure, so you need to add a BMS (Battery Management System) to protect the battery from over voltage. Now you can charge your 48v battery from the sun. You can charge a 48v battery with a  12v panel + Inverter but there will be losses converting Direct current (DC) to Alternating current (AC) to  Direct current (DC).

I really like this Tannis liner product, but at $65/tire I'll pass. I have slime in my tubes (about $2/tube) and after already picking up a nail in my rear tire it works. You do need to pull the nail, air up the tire and spin. Should at least get you back home. At first the tire had a slow leak about 2 psi/day but after 3 days no more leaks.

Thanks Scooter for the heads up. I like this product. I'ts basically a pool noodle that fits inside your tires for $60+. I wonder if I could modify a noodle to do the same thing.
