I bought new pads once I went over 500 miles, but the old ones didn't look much thinner than the new ones when I took things apart, just eyeballing, no micrometer measurements. I'm just wondering what the average lifespan is.
And Rad bikes use resin pads, right, not sintered? I'm new to disc brakes.
This depends on your riding area. Mine were still good at 4500 miles wen I put on new hydraulic calipers. If you have lots of hills their service life will be less.
2021 Radrover #5 owner here,
(mechanical brakes).
1500 miles fronts, 2800 miles rear,
Some hills, dirt, gravel, trails and pavement riding.
10400 miles on rears and still running originals changed fronts at 8000 but wouldn't have needed to. I don't brake much just keep rolling.
I just replaced my rear pads on my runner plus at 1300 miles with all of that as in city commuting. I should probably do my front pads this week.
