RadRover / Re: Bolton 35amp controller. Any issues?
« Last post by kayak03 on Today at 05:16:37 PM »
I put the controller on my 2019 Rad Rover. Between 7 and 10 mph, the stock Bafang would buzz like a LOUD, angry bee and the entire frame would vibrate. I tried every C5 and C14 combo to no avail. An email reply from Bolton said their controller would make more noise because of the increased output of the controller. With their upgraded motor, that wouldn’t be a problem.
Long story short, I switched back to the stock Rad controller and display, and all is quiet again. From everything I’ve read, the Bolton Upgrade Kit is a great upgrade. Unfortunately, it just wasn’t, for me.

General Chat / Re: best radrunner mirrors yet?

while riding my juiced hyperscorpion over the course of several months and enjoying the benefits of the large motorcycle-style mirrors, i started to ponder how well these same mirrors would work on my rad power radrunner.

i had tried several available mirrors on the radrunner from a custom-modified version of the mirrycle bar-end mirror through 3 iterations of hafney mirrors over the past 14 months...none seemed to be a completely satisfactory option.

...then i ordered the juiced hyperscorpion mirrors.

https://www.juicedbikes.com/products/rearview-mirrors-for-the-scorpion?variant=31131412267072

i love these things - best mirrors for the radrunner yet, in my opinion!

inexpensive - $20 (plus $8 shipping).

secure, direct fit - bolted right up in a couple minutes.

large field of view - right in the sweet spot for me.

...and look cool!

(...and speaking of cool, note the himiway ebike headlight mounted motorcycle-style in the photos. will be reviewing this headlight vs the rad premium headlight in a near-future post).
Which seat are you using?

that would be the "Serfas CRS-1 Super Cruiser Bicycle Saddle".

i use this seat on my radrunner and everyone who's ridden the bike loves the seat - a little pricey but big and comfortable!

$84.95 on amazon - https://amzn.to/2RQEajZ
Thanks again, looks like a very comfy seat. Now can you please share the details about the headlight.

the headlight is the himiway "ebike headlight" available here -

https://himiwaybike.com/products/ebike-headlight

i used $29 in free gear codes himiway has provided to ryan (forum admin) to purchase the headlight -

https://www.radowners.com/index.php?topic=801.msg3990#msg3990

brighter and wider field of view than the rad "premium headlight".

requires a connector swap (opposite) and polarity reversal when wiring to headlight's circuit board.

i'll be doing a comparison review of the 2 headlights in the near future.

Rad Modifications / Re: Error 30 Maintain Code

I don’t touch anything on the bike other than turn the mode button on, everything powers up and after a few seconds the message comes up “error 30 maintain”.

RadWagon / Stripped deflopilator? How to fix
« Last post by Ryan on June 20, 2021, 02:20:44 PM »
I recently put together a RadWagon 4 and the deflopilator screw which attaches to the front fork had pulled out. I thought it had just come unscrewed but upon further inspection the inside threads had stripped out. Do I try tapping this? Any additional thoughts here? I thought I could do without it but it actually does help to keep the bike straight.

Are you holding the brake lever closed while powering up? Try not doing that as this can cause the error code as the brake lever has a motor cutout that could be causing the error.

Rad Modifications / Error 30 Maintain Code
« Last post by papsco on June 20, 2021, 09:08:04 AM »
I have a 2018 Rad Mini and I get the “error 30 maintain” code. I watched the recommended video, checked all the connections and they were all good.

I purchased and installed a new controller from Rad but I still get the “error 30 maintain” code.

I re-checked all the connections and they are tight.

How do I fix this problem?
