In case you never click on the RadRunner forum, there is a thread with 3 different people (so far) whose front wheel came off the bike while riding it.   One of them said the quick release skewer snapped.  Has anyone else had this happen on a different Rad bike?

Speaking of extension cables, does anyone know how many pin plug is needed for a RadRunner Plus tail light extension?  I don't really like how it's hidden under the rack/seat.  Has anyone tried a Y splitter cable to run an extra light?

Good to know.  Does anyone know what length/diameter the skewer is?  I was looking at replacement options last night after DocMartins's reply, seems like we should upgrade ASAP.

How does this keep happening?  Faulty equipment, faulty assembly, the quick release just rattles loose after a few hundred miles, or something else?  I bought my RR+ to haul my 4 year old to school, but now I'm starting to worry as this thread adds new victims...

Amazon.ca has a few options that look close, you might have to get creative if the mounting points don't line up exactly.

These aren't cheap, but they are metal instead of plastic

There are multiple colors/styles of bolt on handlebar crossbars on amazon if the stock display won't fit on the bars you choose.  Keep in mind that lowering the bars will make the already obnoxious wiring harness bulge out even more, I wish they made that whole mess a little less sloppy looking.

The Yepp Nexxt Maxi can hold 48.5 lbs and should fit perfectly if it uses the same rack attachment as the Yepp Maxi.

The review I read on the Yepp Maxi was written by a Mom who was still using it with her 6 year old son, so it might work for a few years for you?

Where did you see 48.5 lbs??

here if you read about halfway down

So this was my first week without charging every night; first two days it used 1 bar a day per 8.2 mile round trip, the third day it went from 3 bars to 1 flashing bar and was about 4 mph slower the entire trip.  Does that sound about right?

I did balance as shown in manual.  I have the charger plugged into a power strip that plugs into a lamp timer set for 3 hours, but the green light usually comes around 2.5 hours.  Is that what you mean by countdown timer, or something else?  I guess I'll try riding all week and see how much I have left on Friday afternoon.  Maybe I need to invest in a decent electrical meter?

The manual says recharge after every ride, but I've seen on here that the battery can only take so many recharge cycles (500 ish?) before it dies.
My daily ride is just over 8 miles, 3 days a week, should I just recharge once a week?  I mostly use the throttle, pedaling from stops and up bigger hills, just enough to use 1 bar on the display when I'm almost home.

General Chat / Riding on hot days

Looks like it's going to be another week of over 90f days.  How hot is too hot in regards to battery function/life?   I'm lucky that I can park my bike inside while I'm at work, but will a 20 minute ride home in the heat at 4pm up a few big hills cause any problems?  I don't mind being hot, I just soak my shirt in cold water before I leave, I just don't want to ruin my new bike.

I just saw that you can get usb heated gloves for as cheap as $8.99 on amazon, that might work for you?
