General Chat / Re: Rad Power Bikes New Model Discussion 2024
« on: March 08, 2024, 05:41:55 PM »
By the way, related to the new batteries on the Rad Power Bikes 2024 lineup - they now have a self-resetting fuse. On the old shark style batteries it was easier to replace the fuse. From my understanding on the RadRover 6+ and RadCity 5+ you had to disassemble the battery. There were several examples I saw of people sticking their keys accidentally into the charge port. Now if the fuse gets tripped, it resets itself. Seems like Rad was listening...

General Chat / Re: 1UP Bike Rack NOT UP to the Task
« on: March 05, 2024, 06:35:37 PM »
Can say after hauling hundreds of ebikes on the QuickrStuff that it is superior, especially for my use case of hauling so many different ebikes. I believe code "ebikeescape" should still get you $25 off - (I get no kickback, just something they gave me to help our audience after we said we'd feature their rack in a video). The 1Up did hold up well in my experience for the 1+ year I used it.

General Chat / Rad Power Bikes New Model Discussion 2024
« on: March 05, 2024, 05:04:49 PM »
I honestly haven't taken a deep look at the new models as I just found out about them the day before release. Here they are though: https://bit.ly/3InDL2E

Curious about what everyone thinks, what questions do you have? I have all 4 models en route and full reviews will follow. This is the biggest release from Rad in a long time so I'm really excited to get a close look.

Best of luck with the new gig.

General Chat / Re: Seat Post - Out of Stock
« on: January 19, 2024, 11:27:19 AM »
Just a heads up, it turns out that many of the Amazon (and I'd assume Ebay as well) SR Suntour seatposts were counterfeit, apparently even with matching serial numbers to SR Suntour's records. This was confirmed by SR Suntour. Great seatpost- just be careful who you buy from.

As a sidenote we (Ebike Escape) will be launching a seatpost that I think is just as good and I hope to offer it cheaper than $100. Our audience will get a discount so make sure you're on our email list.

General Chat / Rad's New Pricing
« on: January 19, 2024, 11:23:40 AM »
We've seen prices all over the board over the last 1, even 2 years with Rad. Seems like they have settled on a new "normal". Curious what others think. The RadRover's now feel appropriately priced even though we've seen "flash sales" of the high step as low as $1,199. The RadTrike also feels competitively priced for what you're getting.

RadRover 6 Plus High Step: Current Price $1,599, Original Price $2,099
RadRover 6 Plus Step-Thru: Current Price $1,599, Original Price $2,099
RadExpand 5: Current Price $1,599, Original Price $1,649
RadRunner Plus: Current Price $1,899, Original Price $1,999
RadRunner 2: Current Price starts from $1,399, Original Price $1,499
RadWagon 4: Current Price $1,799, Original Price $1,999
RadCity 5 Plus High-Step: Current Price $1,699, Original Price $1,999

General Chat / Best Deals on Ebikes this Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2023
« on: November 09, 2023, 11:28:50 AM »
This isn't just Rad's sale but hopefully helpful for those trying to decide what ebike to get: https://ebikeescape.com/electric-bike-black-friday-sales/

Biggest thing for Rad Power Bikes is the trike is a crazy $1,200 off. At $1,300 it's less than the Lectric XP Trike.

If you are buying an ebike - links within help support the forum and Ebike Escape (Thanks!). If we've missed any deals let me know!

General Chat / Re: Question for Ryan
« on: August 04, 2023, 09:38:32 AM »
JimInPT and Radio Runner I understand your concerns. However I believe the design of the trike addition to the Hollywood rack was engineered and they have checked the weight limits, torque etc that could occur with normal use. During the video they also mention the trike addition should only be used with a class lll hitch. The tongue weight of a class lll hitch is 800 lbs so I don't think failure will be an issue. A class ll hitch has a tongue weight of 350 lbs so I can see how that could be a concern.

Having said that, I am now confident my RW4 would work fine on the Hollywood rack and a class ll receiver hitch. Now I just have to decide on which rack to purchase. The Hollywood rack or the Quikr Mach 2.

I would have liked Ryan to answer my initial question as the Hollywood rack recommends removing the floorboards on the RW before loading. I want to see if they have a "work around" for the issue as I don't want to remove mine before loading and then reinstall them once ready to ride.

We haven't been riding our RadWagon as much this year. We have been putting more miles on the Lectric XPedition (which is easier to load up on our QuikR rack) as well as our Xtracycle. I wonder if the new wheel adapters Hollywood Racks includes would help lift the rear tire up a bit so you didn't have to remove the boards. My brother still uses his RW4 and I gave him the Hollywood Rack - I'll check with him to see how he has managed. Not sure what to say on the weight since it's a limit. Kind of doing it at your own risk I guess.

On the Trike Adapter I will say in talking with some of these rack brands (can't speak for Hollywood) that they do really put them to the limit. From my understanding, they pretty much take them to where they fail in a worst-case scenario off-road and then pull back quite a bit from there due to liability reasons. Technically my vehicle in the video wasn't even rated for the weight of the loaded rack.

Thanks for sharing. Bummer to see, when we were in the Netherlands last year I saw a decent number of Rad's out in the wild. I feel for all of the Rad owners in Europe.

Thanks for the feedback. These are likely products we'd have to get wholesale as opposed to developing our own so these likely will be offered down the line. I'll see what we can do.

Hey Ryan, I just ordered a pair of CST Big Boat tires from Rad for my MiniST2, using your referral link at the top of the pages.  Does this benefit you for parts/accessories or just bike purchases?  Hope you get a bit of a kickback and by the way, Rad's website is the ONLY place I could find these tires, as I posted a day or two ago for anybody else who's looking.  Many other online stores, including CST's own, list them but "out of stock" everywhere except Rad.

Yes, it does - thank you for the support!

Hi all, Ryan the forum owner here. For new forum members, I also run the Ebike Escape YouTube channel. We just launched our own store selling ebike accessories with the help of BiKASE, a brand which has stood for offering high quality, well designed products. I'm looking for feedback on the store, really anything. What can we do better? What new products would you like to see?

I'm personally a huge fan of the ABC bottle cages and I think the fire resistant/waterproof battery bags are unique. We use them all the time when we store the batteries in our vehicle when we travel - it just helps them not get banged up. Thanks in advance and if you make a purchase I'd also like to hear what you think of our products.

Here is the website: https://shop.ebikeescape.com/

unless I'm missing it, the immediate glaring omissions are lights, helmets, and other safety features.

when i first got my bike, safety was a huge concern to me - i wanted to be lit up like a fireworks show. i no longer use all the lights, but in addition to what came on the bike, i have 3 lights on the tail, my helmet light, a headlamp for brightness in darker conditions, a headlamp that i essentially keep on flash as a daytime running light, and two lights on the tube and one weaved through the spokes on the front tire (i only use the tube and spoke lights at night).

Helmets too - i would hope that when people are shopping for bikes, they're also shopping for helmets.

i also wear padded gloves - fingerless most of the year (it's HOT in Texas), and with fingers for a few months in the winter. they don't need to be fancy or expensive. The MoreOK line on Amazon https://amzn.to/46hihPT has worked great for me for both styles of gloves.

Thanks for the feedback. These are likely products we'd have to get wholesale as opposed to developing our own so these likely will be offered down the line. I'll see what we can do.

Site looks clean and is easy to navigate. I personally like the "eBike Essential" packs that you have listed. For people who are new to eBikes or even biking in general, I think that pack is a good place to start and will cover many people's needs.

Although I am not in the market to buy anything now, you had some products that caught my eye.

Great site, and if I were to stumble upon it without knowing you, I would feel safe and secure buying something from there.

Hope this helps.

Thanks - very helpful. Eventually we want to launch a full lineup of accessories - seats, suspension seatposts (shims?), some of the specific accessories from other ebike creators and more. Our ideas our endless but we are keeping it simple for now.
