Title: Pinhead Locking Skewer
Post by: Dave R on September 03, 2020, 06:26:58 AM
Wondering if anyone has used the "Pinhead Locking Skewer" setup?

I would always lock thru the frame and rear wheel but it seems like this would make stealing the front wheel more difficult?

I have not used it myself, but it does look like it would foil most casual thieves. A large pair of angle-tip needle nose pliers might defeat it, but it's unlikely a typical spur-of-the-moment wheel thief would have those with them.

I'm getting the skewers for my front tire & the lock for my seat pole. Looks like it works good. All it is a deterrant. It takes about 3 seconds or less to pull a seat pole out. Pinhead seems like the real deal.

I looked into the Pinhead system and somehow ended up with Hexlox. ABUS also has a neat system. I would love to see the Pinhead system in person as its known quality. Post your results of whatever you end up with. I love my Hexlox.

A chain lock is what I ended up using instead of getting a pinhead since you can only use one of the skewers and they make you buy 2.
