Brand new, never powered up, complete. I cut 2 wires going into the rear hub and lost interest in fixing it. Being sold AS IS. Not shipping, no parting out either. Located in Norfolk, VA.

So the guy I gave the RadRunner 1 to is selling it. When I gave it to him he rode it home and that's it, been sitting ever since. So I sent a friend over and she purchased it back for $300 with everything still on it. Mirrors, lock, front rack, rear trunk, both sets of keys. I'm disappointed that the guy I gave it to didn't use it but if he wants to pedal everywhere that's on him I guess. And if he's selling it to pay a bill or something that's on him as well. I thought it would help him branch out his options for a better job and give him a little bit of transportation freedom. So anyways, my friend got my old RadRunner 1 back for $300 and that's a heck of a deal.

SOLD. Thanks for looking!

I pulled this off my RadRunner 1, and re-installed the stock LED display, before passing it on.  I lost the instruction sheet but I suspect that Rads site has a how-to video. It's basically plug and play. Will ship it thru USPS. Asking $20 plus shipping. Call dibs and PM me .

General Chat / Re: Motorcycles and EBikes
February 28, 2022, 07:49:31 AM
My bikes keep getting smaller as I get older. Used to have a CBR900RR in the early 90's, various bikes afterwards and currently own a Piaggio Liberty 150. My wife has a Honda Silverwing scooter. So I got into ebikes to squeeze in some exercise for my commute to work at 14 miles each way. I now ride the scooter less and less and my wife is selling the Silverwing. Now here's a funny observation.

It seems everyone wants a ebike the goes fast, even if they have zero experience with motorcycles or even a conventional road bike. Then they get a ebike, unlock it and wonder why they crashed at 35mph and complain about their road rash. I've owned a few Class 3 ebikes and found 20mph fast enough for me and my use.

Finally, for reference. I'm 50 years old, no health issues and will still jump on a sport bike when given the chance. And 2 wheels (and 4 wheels for that matter) have never been about outright speed. I just enjoy getting out and enjoying fresh air and taking in the scenery, and stunts if it's a rocket bike! I heal slower now so falling off of ANYTHING isn't fun anymore. I've been tempted to get a Honda Monkey bike just for fun and something different.

Mr. Tuffy and/or Tannus liners, especially on the rear tire.

Quality lock. I like Foldy Locks.

Bottle holder(s).

Extra blinky light for the rear if riding in dark.

Rear rack for bag, basket or trunk. I use SHAD motorcycle trunks.

Helmet that you will wear. Trust me on this!

Seat and suspension post. I have a fragile booty.

Cap to cover the battery terminal when the battery is removed.

I carry the supplied tool kit but added a better wrench for rear wheel removal.

Enjoy your new Rads!

And because I have a Mini ST in the family I'm still sticking around. You can't get rid of me that easily!

General Chat / Passed the RadRunner 1 on to a new owner.
February 14, 2022, 07:05:10 AM
I had this 'Runner for sale on this site and at work, sold it and ended up buying it back a month later. But I also ordered a Juiced RipRacer so I don't need 2 ebikes. A friend, that relies on bicycles for his only transportation, is getting messed with at his thrift store job. He found a job cleaning buses but it's a good distance from his place, so I gave him the 'Runner. There is no way he could ever afford one new, or even used, and I have the RipRacer coming. The new owner is short, in his early 60's and of average intelligence. I made sure he could:

Use the charger. Unplug it when it goes green.

Be able to get in in his apartment. Ground level but has 3 steps.

USE THE Pedego Foldy branded lock! DO NOT use a cheap cable lock.

Be able to open and securely close the SHAD trunk on the back.

Turn the lights on. I wish Rad would do auto-on and give you the option to turn them off if wanted.

I hope the 'Runner blesses him the option to find a better job. And he can visit his parents easier now. They live about 8 miles away from him. Plus the "Runner has fenders. Granted the wide tires still make a mess but the fenders stop the skunk stripe! My wife is betting on how long before he gets it stolen. I explained to him that this kind of thing will only happen once from me so don't mess up!

Side note: I purchased a E-Lux Malibu GT. It's now on consignment 400 miles later. Whoever put the word commute in the description for the Malibu should be slapped! It just wore me out on my commute and was a pig in tight spaces. Going out to cruise with some friends? It would exceed at that I guess. Finally the Dapu motor was crude compared to a Bafang motor.

RadMini / Re: who is it for

I'll try to get a good picture(s) of the Mini ST in the family. Cell phone mounts can be tricky to find the right one. And the seat.... I get cheap pogo post off of Pedego ebikes. People upgrade and don't want the old post. I get the old post for $10. They work great for my 220 weight and go down very low. Wally World sells Sella Royal made in Italy seats. I like the Gypsy series. Schwinn has a wide spring-less saddle thats pretty comfy as well. I also found a good bottle holder but I don't remember the brand. It velcros on the stem and handle bar without blocking any controls or interfering with steering.

I'll try to get over her house this coming weekend and get a picture(s) so you can get an idea of what I found that works and mods. Only other mod I did that you wont notice is I installed Tannus liners. I got my Russian bear wrestling training in that day!

RadMini / Re: Thinking on buying 2 RadMini’s

You'll have zero regrets with a Mini. I prefer the ST version myself. You can also rotate the stem backwards if the stock reach to the handlebars is to much. As mentioned before in other threads, I have a MiniST in the family. Owner is in her early 70's and is very short. She rides it as much as possible. Only thing to note, they are heavy little things. The Mini series carries its weight low so handling isn't the issue but trying to carry it up steps and such. Remove the battery to make it a bit easier to lift. All ebikes are on the heavy side so this is not exclusive to Rad.

Welcome to the forum by the way! I've been trying to get my wife on a ebike so we can further explore our neighborhood. I use my ebike to commute to work and run to the grocery store.

I purchased a Rad Mini ST for my wifes sister as a thank you for help with our homes electrical wiring. She would not take any money but always wanted an ebike. She is in her early 70's and on the shorter side. After reversing the stem for easier reach and a few other minor tweaks she really likes it. So if your on the fence just purchase one and enjoy it.

I also have a mid-60 year old female friend who's waiting to see if I sell my RadRunner come spring. She rode it briefly and fell in love with it. It's currently winter here and I'm waiting on a new ebike to be (hopefully) delivered late April.

My wife is in her early 60's and has zero interest in a ebike.

You mean the stock non- adjustable one? I have one you can have for free, just pay shipping. What area you in? I'm in Norfolk VA, USA. Not sure what shipping would be though. PM me.

General Chat / Re: Bike Lock

SKUNK lock. Coolest idea ever!

Anyways, I'm going to make you paranoid again. If you use a super lock and lock it to a not so super bike rack, the thief will pick the path of least resistance and cut the bike rack instead.

My area is on the lower end of the bicycle theft spectrum. I'm not in New York, L.A., or D.C., but my sister lived in D.C. for awhile. If I was to take my 'Runner to D.C. I would use both my Foldy Lock and my ABUS U-lock that I use on my motor scooter when going into sketchy areas. My scooter has a anti-theft ignition, and if it gets punched out/damaged its $600ish to replace the assembly. I feel that would only happen if stupid kids could push it away behind a building or into some bushes in order to hot wire it.

jbfoster, how do you do it? I go to a local arcade bar in my area. Lock my RadRunner on the corner, outta site bike rack with my Pedego Foldy Lock. Lock it, go inside the arcade bar, order a beer and play some pinball.

I purchased a Pedego branded Foldy Lock. The holder works/mounts like a water bottle holder. It seems more than adequate for my security needs. Side note. Also lock your bike in your garage. Thieves love the privacy provided by garages once inside.
