Does anyone use Handlebar Jacks? I have ordered a pair but haven't received them yet. Cheaper and apparently no lifting of the entire bike required.

I have them and use them almost weekly on my Rad Rover. They hold the bike securely, very happy with them.

I put a rear rack on my Rover, so when I'm getting ready to flip the bike over: I remove the seat/post, place a cut and slit pool noodle on the rear of the rack and secure it with a bungie, squeeze the rear brake and start walking backwards. Even this +70lb bike is easy to manage this way.

That sounds very cool. However, because of the larger wheel/fenders on my City 5 Plus, I have to use a support like a plastic bin or stool to support it using the rear rack. It is a little tricky to keep the bin/stool from sliding, but it's doable--and there is no need to remove the seat/post. See YouTube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZPQTXAwS-Q

I have ordered this ramp:

I found the above ramp was too short/steep for getting my City 5 Plus into the back of my Subaru Forester. I am now using a longer, folding aluminum ramp. It is a little tricky, as it doesn't have edge guards.

What did you think was so terrible about the old shifter?

I took it to a machine shop which trimmed it nicely--don't know exactly what kind of saw. They didn't even charge me--more evidence of creeping socialism in Seattle!

Snoking--

I got the thumb throttle and, not being a tool-oriented guy, and I wonder how you trimmed it.

I bought this after a recent accident (nighttime, unexpectedly steep hill, fell over) that I think could have been avoided if I had used the throttle a couple of seconds earlier. I'm new to e-bikes and have never had a motorcycle, so maybe it isn't as natural to twist the throttle backwards (if I remember rightly through the fog, I first tried it forward). I think the thumb lever may help.

I now have them on my Rad City 5 Plus brake levers, and I think they can be made to work well with the standard bands; I add a bit of double-sided mounting tape to hold them better.

Rabi--

I like your setup too. The Antfire or Aiguozer system is working well for me, but I will try mounting the front ones on the brake levers for better separation than on the front fork, where I have them now.

I just installed the above-mentioned bag (large) on the Suntour seatpost without any problems; this is on a Rad City 5 Plus.

Eye contact, pointing, hand signals are all good but difficult to apply in lots of situations, e.g., night riding. Why not add blinkers? Overconfidence resulting from the observation that they work? Also, I don't see a danger of a motorist losing control of their car because they are so astounded at blinkers on a bike.

I have tried a couple of options that have already been mentioned: Cycl Winglights and the Antfire or Aiguozer system (they appear to be the same product). I really wanted to like the Winglights--a simple and elegant solution--but the dealbreaker for me was no audible feedback (no beeping). For me,having to look to see if they are on is a major drawback. Also, with the backward-curving handlebars on my City 5 Plus, they may be less visible from the front. I now have the Aiguozer system with front and back signals and some other flashing modes, and overall, I like it a lot.

Jobster's procedure above worked for me today on my City 5Plus.

I'm not sure how to respond to the hand signal graphic--are you saying those are all you need? Or perhaps that I'm not aware you can use hand signals? I do know the basic hand signals; they require taking one hand far off of the handlebars, and they may not be very visible in some situations.

There was an old thread about this, but I'll start a new one. I'm interested in general opinions--are these advisable, more trouble than they are worth, etc.--and if they are a good idea, which ones? I have some opinions to share later.

Yes--I forgot to mention that I have a stepthrough. I guess if you need 200 mm your choices are limited. I got a KS ETEN post 100 mm, the cheap kind with a lever under the seat. After a 20-mile group ride yesterday with lots of stops and starts, I decided I don't need it--just need to be mindful when I stop and get off the seat. Also, taking one hand off the handlebar to lower it seemed a little chancy. The kind that operate from a lever on the handlebar are probably great but more expensive, with the lever and cables usually costing extra.

Rad Modifications / Dropper seatposts

I'm new to ebiking, bought a City 5 Plus 3 weeks ago. I have been away from cycling for several years but used to do a lot of road biking. At the start of my first ride, I fell over--and pretty hard. I think I may have broken something in my shoulder, but it seems to be healing well. Anyway, I had trouble starting out and tried to stop with one-toe support (I had set the saddle height for road bike pedaling efficiency). The weight of the bike bowled me over.

I have talked to several people who are riding much lower due to wanting to be able to plant their feet solidly when they stop. I want to keep my butt high enough for efficient pedaling but of course don't want to fall over again, so I'm going to try a "dropper" seatpost that will allow me to drop the seat when I stop, then raise it again quickly when I start again. These are used mostly on mountain bikes, but it seems they might be useful for a variety of ebikes as well.

What are people's thoughts and experiences with dropper posts?
