Service & Repair / Re: Rad Power 6 Battery Not Charging

Beware not to mistakenly try to insert the battery key into the charge port. You will get a spark and possibly blow the internal fuse. lt happens a lot and easy to do if you aren't paying attention.

Service & Repair / Re: Brake light Rad6 problem

Unplug the brake light for a while to let it dry. Maybe even take the light indoors and put it in a sunny window sill. Yes I ride in the rain, but never hose the bike off. It isn't worth the risk.

RadMission / Re: Fender failure
December 13, 2021, 07:33:50 PM
Sadly for you, the Mission was not designed for rough riding. It's mainly a paved trail/street bike.

The fender brace in the rear will bow out, which moves the fender closer to the tire. The bow effect can happen at installation time, or over time while riding. You need to be sure the brace is in a more straight position by pushing in on each side. That will move the fender away from the tire.

If you want to totally stop it from happening, make a couple of extenders out of plate steel, about one inch long and bolt them down at the back wheel where the brace it now bolted. That will raise the rear of the fender up and that should correct the issue.

Do you know anyone in the USA? They could order it and then ship it to you.

RadWagon / Re: Alternative to large rack

I will assume you are referring to the rear of the bike, since the rack you linked lacks the four holes to bolt up to the head stay in the front of the bike. I'm sure it's possible to use this rack on the back, but with no mounting holes, you will be forced to rig up mounting brackets. It seems a lot easier to buy a rad rack.

Make sure the derailleur arm isn't rubbing the chain. Sometimes they get bent.

I suspect you aren't half as frustrated as Rad is. You do realize there are supply chain issues, right?

General Chat / Re: Toronto pop up tent by radbke

The popups mainly sell their garage sale bikes which are bikes returned by customers after the 14 day trial period. Most of the bikes are like new, with possibly a few scratches. The bike has the same one year warranty as a new bike. And it has a discounted price.

Have you checked Rad's website to see where the closest test ride location would be? You really should see the bikes in person. The City is a larger bike compared to the mini. You might also consider the Runner which is low to the ground.

No the sound was still there on my 3 ride, more pronounced. It seems like it is coming from the front wheel.

It sounds like the front brakes may not be adjusted correctly. Pivot the bike on the kickstand, allowing the front wheel to elevate above the ground. Then spin the front wheel to see if the brakes are dragging. If so, adjust the brakes to get rid of the drag.

A bit of a warning. Do not totally unscrew the circular pad adjuster to a point where you remove it from the caliper. There is a spring putting tension on a ball bearing that gives you the clicking sensation when adjusting the pads. If you totally remove the adjuster, the spring and ballbearing will fall out and it's a bear to put back in.

The brake cable is secured to the caliper via a pinch bolt securing the cable. If your wheel is locked up after assembly, then you can be assured the cable is attached and there is no missing bolt.

You do have an adjuster for the cable on the caliper, as well as the handlebar brake lever. But when the bike is new, those adjusters are screwed all the way in, so you have future adjustability after the cable begins stretching.

I suspect what happened to you, is:
A: The circular silver pad adjuster on the caliper needs to be clicked out once or twice to back it off the rotor. That should allow the wheel to spin freely. But in doing so, you will notice the brake lever will pull in closer to the  handlebar. At that point you need to loosen the pinch bolt holding the brake cable to the caliper and move the caliper arm up a little and then tighten the cable back down. That should set the correct tension on brake lever.

Keep in mind that the brake rotor may have been dinged during shipping and a bit wobbly, causing brake drag. The rotor can be straitened with a special rotor straightening tool. I don't believe they cost that much. You could use plyers, but that may damage the rotor.
