General Chat / Re: Removing handlebar grips

Pretty easy to do actually. Take a flat head screwdriver and pry the inside of the grip away from the bar and spray/pour rubbing alcohol into the crevice. Twist the grip to move the alcohol around. Continue to do that until the grip slips off easily. Should take less than two minutes.

The Rover 6 brake calipers made by Nutt has a bolt size:

M6,1mm thread pitch, 18mm length

It doesn't really matter, but the bolt uses a 5mm Allen wrench to remove it, if you really want to match it up with what came stock. That bolt is available at any hardware store.

Pretty sure they are M5. .8 mm pitch. Length is whatever needed to install accessory. By the way. .8 pitch is standard, so any hardware store would have it.  To be safe, pick up M6 bolts 1 mm pitch as well, just in case I am wrong. Those are the only two sizes it would be.

You want to look for Sram Elixir style pads. They will fit Rad's Nutt brakes.

See if you can isolate the problem. Start by unplugging your taillight and see if that fixes the headlight. If not, try the opposite to see if the taillight stops blinking.

I'm assuming you already checked all your connections. If isolating the two lights doesn't work, unplug all the connections to your controller and then firmly plug them in again.

Then inspect the wiring harness around the handlebars to see if it shows any damage to the wires. Sometimes people put their bikes together with the handlebar rotated one turn, which puts stress on the wiring harness. If your wires around the handlebars are real tight, that may have caused stress on the wiring.

Still not fixed? Check all the wiring connections around the handlebars.

Lastly, I would unplug the power wires to each brake lever. Then check the lights for blinking. If none of that works, it could be a wiring harness issue, or the controller.

Good luck and report back!

Have you contacted Rad's customer service? Maybe they could find you a bike at one of their service centers in Canada.

Do an Amazon search:  bicycle wheel chock

I would think you could install a slotted bar on the floor of the van and use something like this to slide into the bar when transporting bikes:

Old thread, but commenting for future viewing.

The Runner wiring can be moved to the other side of the bike to accommodate the power wire coming out of the opposite side of the replacement wheel. Snip the zip ties, move the wire to the other side and zip it down.

I had to call Rad to check on a part I need. While on the phone I asked about your controller. They have it in stock.

I'm not sure where you got your information, but Rad will sell parts to anyone, even someone who bought the bike second hand. What they won't do is warranty a second hand bike if you bought it during the warranty period. I believe someone misinformed you.

Unfortunately I don't think any of those controllers will work. You don't need to be worried as much with compatibility with the display, but more so the motor. You can always buy an inexpensive display to match the new controller. But unless the controller matches the motor, you are dead in the water.

By the way, the one pic you show is of a Rad Runner controller. That controller is not compatible with the 2017 wagon. In fact, the 2016 and 2017 wagon use the same controller. But the controller Rad uses on the 16/17 wagon does not work on any other Rad bike.

A new controller from Rad is around $100. If they list it as out of stock, ask the customer service person if they can search inventory and see if one of their remote locations might have one in stock. I read a Facebook forum post saying that the part number was 400-00028.

Service & Repair / Re: radrover & radcity controllers ?
December 27, 2021, 02:15:15 AM
Unfortunately they are not the same, and using a Rover controller in a city and vice versa won't power the bike on.

Most of Rad's controller's are bike specific. And at times, year specific as well. But in the case of the Rover, the 2019 and 2020 bikes use the same controller. The City is the same way, 2019 and 2020 use same controller.

Check with Rad customer service. I think they may have a replacement part now to correct this issue.
