you are saying rad bikes can support 60 volts with stock display, controller and motor?

has anyone built and ran a 14s battery on their stock rad bike?

preferably radwagon 4 or built around the same time so compatibility conditions would be the same?

will the bike run ok or will it show an over voltage error of some sort?

update:

i just got my radwagon 4 assembled and using multi meter measured the battery and charger voltage it is 54.6.

there are 2 ways to get 54.6 volts

1. 13s charged to 4.2 volts

2. 14s charged to 3.9 volts.

without opening up the battery to count the cells i have no idea what way rad does it of course there is a warranty sticker the warranty would not be easily claimable anyways because.

the shipping rules for batteries makes it that consumers can not ship batteries and it would be too costly for manufacturers to provide pre generated shipping label and battery shipping kit (an ebike company tried that and it failed).

and rad probably would not dare void a warranty since the magnus and moss act makes it criminally illegal for a company to void a warranty.

however i was able to find a youtube video where someone built a 13s5p battery using a hailong battery enclosure kit of similar size and shape (looks like rad  probably commissions hailong to make battery and proprietary connectors and slaps the rad name on it).

so it looks like rad batteries charges 13s to 4.2 volts.

looks like it may be some kind of proprietary connector.

you should not easily burn the connector unless the battery is not seated properly or the battery is shoddily made

Service & Repair / Re: radwagon 4 wheel sizes
April 14, 2021, 09:43:06 AM
thats the problem. when they dont list the parts then we dont know if they have them so we cant get it fixed and we have to turn to a hozan spoke cutter/threader to custom cut spokes.

rad if you are reading this please list all the parts no matter how painful it may be.

Service & Repair / radwagon 4 wheel sizes
April 10, 2021, 12:02:28 PM
i know that the tire width is custom size but what about the rim diameter as well as the effective rim diameter because when it comes time to replace tires will normal childs mountain bike tires work? as often childs mountain bikes use sizes from  18 to 24 inches depending on the age range and size of the bike.

and what about the spokes.

i have not gotten my radwagon 4 assembled yet as i got it during the winter  but when i get it assembled and going eventually the inevitable will happen i will need to replace broken spokes and i was wondering if the spokes are standard lengths so custom length would not have to be cut and threaded.

the part that broke off is a tensioner or deraileur.

looks like you did a single speed conversion.

i am not sure if it is a standard part you can get from local bike shop as it looks like it may have custom mount thereby it may be custom or proprietary

the rad site

https://radpowerbikes.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360010543453-Error-25-Troubleshooting-Guide

sais brake switch fault.

check the connections sometimes the connectors can come loose.

with bike up on stand keeping the wheel off the ground so it can spin freely you can disconnect the brake switch and if it works and the wheel spins then it is a faulty switch.

Rad Modifications / Re: Higher Gear Ratio on Radrunner
September 23, 2020, 05:04:08 PM
i am not sure what the radrunner uses freewheel or cassette but for a freewheel

http://sickbikeparts.com/megadrive-14-34-sunrace-7-speed-freewheel/

14 tooth is the smallest cog

cassette

http://sickbikeparts.com/megarange-11-34-shimano-8-speed-cassette/ 11 tooth is the smallest.

above links are just to show options  getting from your local bike shop you can get the parts faster

Rad Modifications / radwagon 4 wheels not so proprietary?
September 23, 2020, 10:16:53 AM
i got to looking at the geometry of the radwagon and it looks like the wheels are not as proprietarily sized like once thought

it looks like they may be using standard 20 inch rims i wont know until i get mine in november and i do some fitment testing.

i suspect this because the stand over hight is very close to the wheel size and i think removing the rear fender may allow 24 or even 20 inch tires to be used.

i am thinking of replacing the rear wheel  with a direct drive hub for regen and a 20 inch rim to use a standard bmx or child sized bike wheel and then using a mid drive or even a motor connected to a sprocket used for gas bikes that connects to the disk brake mount for power.

i do scrap metal recycling and pull an appliance dolly and go to yard sales and have to pull heavy loads and go up steep hils and the power and regen would be nice.

i hear you saying "there are no radwagon 4 on the road yet"  actually there are just starting to be radwagon 4s from early orders being delivered now and some reviewers for youtube and ebr site that got theirs early for reviews who want to probably do the same mods and can be guinea pigs for testing different size wheels.

maybe even someone can tell me if it can handle a full fat tire seeing that it looks like the hub is a rebranded bafang g60 750 watt motor witch is a fat bike motor.
#27
what i was wanting to know is if bafang or 8fun learned it's lesson from the mid drive flaws and maybe formulated the nylon for the hub motor gears any better so you would burn out the motor or controller long before melting or stripping the gears
#28
there is a failure of the bafang bbshd where one of the nylon gears melt and strip out when put under heavy loads for a long time i was wondering if a similar thing happens to the bafang hub that rad uses if the gears wear out very quickly when under heavy load for long times like climbing up steep long hills?

It would NOT be a good idea to hook a 14S battery pack up to a standard Rad controller, but Boltons controller will supposedly handle it.

what happens will the 14s blow the controller or is there intermittently over volt shutdowns due to maybe inductance kick back.

#30
has anyone cracked open a rad battery and how many series cells are there in the newer rad batteries?

or has anyone taken a volt meter to a battery fresh off the charger or to the charger?

because will the rad motor and controller handle a 14s battery?
