General Chat / Hand pump vs battery powered t...
Last post by Naranja_CT5+ - April 11, 2024, 08:16:32 PM
I have a couple of foot pumps at home plus a 12v car inflator. I was thinking of the one I carry with me on the road. I saw deal at Amazon for $50 bucks for electric. But I don?t know their quality.

On the other hand I can probably get a more reliable hand pump with gauge for the same price.
One thing I have to keep in check are the accessories that I add to the bike. Electric pumps are heavier than hand pumps.

Opinions?

Yes, it just floats there. And of course that was a concern, and the reason why I folded the metal for reinforcement. It's surprisingly stable though. The down tube is maybe 6" away, but I suppose a brace connected to it could be installed. So far, I see no need to.

Does the forward end just float there? It should be easy to fabricate a brace to the down tube.

Rad Modifications / Finally made a CHAIN GUARD for...

Tired of ruining my cuffs with black chain grease. I do use bike cuff clips (get those on eBay), but they are not always effective. So I finally made a chain guard for my RadRunner Gen I.
You'll need a saber saw with a metal cutting blade, and a good gauge cookie sheet works well for the metal. I folded it along the top edge, and along the wide end where it is bolted to the frame to give it needed double-thickness extra strength. I used the two existing holes on the frame to secure it with bolts. There is just the right amount of space between the pedal and the chain, so it does not scrape the guard (final photo).

Quote from: Jack D on April 10, 2024, 05:01:41 PM... Weird thing I did notice: The throttle and PAS both work as expected when the front brake connector is disconnected.  As soon as I reconnect the front brake connector - the intermittent issue begins again.

Oh, wait - that's the wrong side from the throttle for my theory to work.  :-[
Still, it wouldn't hurt to make the adjustments and be sure.

I would focus on the brake handle switch before shelling out for a new controller, especially if the misbehaviour only happens when operating the throttle. It suggests a mechanical issue to me, and the throttle is in the same vicinity as the brake handle. Maybe something is bumping into something else.

There is a procedure for adjusting the cut-off switches in the brake handles, but I cannot find it at the moment.

Rad is thinking it's a bad controller.

Yeah, I contacted Electobike and they *immediately* replied with the settings I needed.  Thanks!

FYI: Good install vids on Youtube for the setup but nada on the settings - had that thought also.

It might be a setting, but as long as you use both brakes at the same time I would keep it disconnected until you can find the issue.  The purpose of the brakes being connected is to turn the motor off so you can come to a stop without the bike continuing along.
