I had to search for that term I've never heard it before. I didnt think any Rad bike came with a steering stabilizer from the factory?

A good light transforms nighttime rides. I bought a 2000lumen light for mine and doubled my visibility. Even when it's still night outside I'll leave it on, flashing, so I'm more visible to other road users too.

Nice work! It's been a while since I tinkered with the setting on mine, but I didn't get mine right straight out of the box, though I did use the Bolton video as a starting point.

Currently I've disabled the throttle (for local compliance) and dialled the power and PAS all the way to 11, and then leave it in PAS 2 for most of the ride, which still gives me lots of range.

I rarely use PAS 5 from a standing start, it's too easy to pop the front wheel off the ground, or to strip a gear in the motor. But it's nice to have when you want more oomph!

I bought my 750w Baffang motor from Electric Bike World ($258 in stock).  Good company, on par with Bolton. They have controllers as well.  You don't need to change the controller to use this motor, but I would suggest you do!  My motor came with a 7 gear cassette, which you will need, because the chain does not line up with the new motor with the old gear installed.  Make certain you get that version. Also, this prepares for the future if you ever want to add shifting ability.  Lastly be certain you get a TRUE 750w motor. Many out there (like Rad) are calling their 500w motors 750, and they are not.  When you remove the cover off of both motors, be very careful. I suggest a heat gun, and you must have the proper security bit for the screws (Harbor Freight has them). You DON'T want to strip the heads, and they are tight!

As it happens, I've got the 35A controller and KT display from them already. Shipping overseas is expensive, so I'll wait a while before ordering, but it's good to know it fits the RadRunner frame!

Days are getting shorter here, so I'm not getting as many miles on the bike, though i passed the 1000km mark recently. It's a matter of getting the right window in the weather and making the most of it.

I've been looking at alternative vendors for a 750W upgrade motor, and I spotted this one. It states it will fit a 175mm dropout, which looks to be the right size, but I'm not sure if the cassette type is right for the RR?

A small addition today, but worth sharing. I ordered a handmade canvas pannier from a Belgian craftsman on Etsy (https://www.etsy.com/ie/shop/treesizeverse) and it's arrived today. I think it's a beautifully made piece, and a great fit on the bike.

The crash on Monday took out my tail light.  While the front worked fine, the rear doesn't light up off the switch or by pressing the brakes.

Thought I'd have to trace the loom back to see where the break was, but then I realized I could use the front lamp to test instead!

I can't find the lights listed in either the EU or NA Radpower sites, does anyone know where I could source one?

First tumble today! All my own fault, I was distracted by a classic car parked over the wall I was cycling past. (A pristine 1970 Reliant Scimitar SE6 for those interested!) Missed the ramp onto the path, bounced off the curb, and landed on gravel. Handlebars took most of the impact, scratching up my new lamp, and the brake levers, but I was lucky to escape with scratches. And I'd only taken off my gloves a couple of kilometres up the road when I checked my phone!

Wear your safety gear, folks!

Did you see this thread already? https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink/topic?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Eradowners%2Ecom%2Findex%2Ephp%3Ftopic%3D138%2E0&share_tid=138&share_fid=2118463&share_type=t&link_source=app

Some good info in there.

I'd definitely go with the upgraded motor and controller.

General Chat / Re: Convert Rad to a Trike

You mean like the Radburro?

https://bit.ly/3v7p3nw

There's are other vendors out there selling trikes for the price of a new Rad.

Seems to me that reengineering a bike would take more work and money than buying one?

I think the problem is that unless you tie down the back of the bike, it'll try to twist around the pivot point with every bump and lateral change in weight.

Cruise is great! I have to be careful where I use it though, as under local regs, I should be pedalling everywhere...
