Service & Repair / Re: Monthly Battery Balancing

I'll leave mine on for a 12h charge occasionally, out of laziness more than anything else!

There's not a lot to assemble tbh, just attach the front wheel (it's quick release), adjust the handlebars, and run through the checks in the video. I think I spent more time bolting on the accessories than I did building the bike itself! :D

Regarding long term maintenance, they're pretty easy to maintain. Keep air in the tyres, clean the chain semi regularly, and adjust the tension on the brakes occasionally. I went throu a set of rear pads in a year's riding, I've about 2500km on mine (1500miles)

I've had one puncture from a really sharp gravel shard.

I don't think I've seen a Rad Gravel build yet. That said, I think starting with the Mission (it's half the weight of the River) and adding drop bars and gravel tyres would be a better option.

Micah Toll kinda did some gravel riding on a mission here:

They only complication O can think of  (compared to converting a regular flat bar bike to drop bars) is that the braking on an ebike  also cuts power to the motor, so installing standard road bike brake levers might now work.

For pedals, the Rads use a standard pedal fitting, so any pedal should work. I've a pair of MTB flat pedals on mine.

Assembly is a piece of cake, I bolted my Rad together on a couple of hours, with an awful hangover.

Assuming your course has paved/gravel paths all the way around, and permit bikes, I'd just bungee a trolley on the back.

Glad you liked it! It's a great corner of the world, I'm very lucky to get to live here.

Most of the WAW is regular road, so it's definitely cyclable.

There's also the Great Western Greenway from Westport out to Achill, which is on my list for the summer. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Western_Greenway

Cool If it's a new battery, you'll need to leave charging for up to 12hrs for the first 3 charges to balance the battery.

I'm still pedalling! I've about 2500km on the bike now, and going strong since the weather has improved.

I got the bike serviced, which included replacement of the rear pads, which were down to the metal.

That's normal.Does it go red when you plug in a battery that needs charging?

I used a regular set of Allen keys and spanners. The bolts under the centre console are challenging to remove, but the rest of the bike went together fairly easily.

RadMission / Re: Radmission EU controller upgrade
May 04, 2021, 11:52:05 PM
I've used that same upgrade (I've a Runner rather than a Mission). You can get then from Big Game Bikes in the UK. From what I've seen of the OEM Radmission's controller, it's the same as the RadRunner.

US and Europe controllers and motors are the same, they just use different software configuration to comply with the local laws.

I found my feet were slipping off a lot in the wet, so I installed a pair of MTB flats as well. There's so much wrong with the riding position of a RR that clips aren't going to help with much

General Chat / Across Ireland by RadRunner

https://m.independent.ie/life/travel/ireland/recharging-my-batteries-on-an-e-bike-odyssey-right-across-ireland-39608573.html

I stumbled across this article from last year about cycling across Ireland on an ebike. I was pleasantly surprised to see the writer had rented a RadRunner in Dublin!

I think the brake lights are more prone to breaking than the controllers.

Never had an issue with them with after sales service. Responses within a couple of days, which is what I'd expect.
