Thanks for this, I need to replace a spoke on the back of my RRunner and Rad support are taking too long to get back to me.

RadRunner / Specialized Carless Whisper

Specialized released a 20x4 tyre for their Runner competitor:

Has anyone fitted these to a RR yet? How do they compare to the K-Rads or Vee Speedsters?

General Chat / Just back from Berlin. RadRunners everywhere!
« on: May 23, 2023, 03:45:09 AM »

(Apologies for the much-zoomed and compressed photos)
I spent most of last week in Berlin, and I couldn't get over how many RadRunners there are in use by delivery riders. There were very few Engiwe/Lectrics or other 20x4 bikes in use. The Flink depot behind the hotel had a dozen of them parked up and charging between jobs, the most RRs I'd ever seen in one place.

I think it's because it's cheaper to produce a controller that approximates a sine wave?

I have a 30.0 here that I never got around to fitting. I'll try it tomorrow (Saturday) and let you know how it goes.

So, the motor cutting out is normal. Are the brakes returning to their normal position when you release them? Does it feel like the cable is stiff in the cover?
(i.e. does it move freely?) A squirt of WD40 down from the lever, up the cable might free it out a bit.

Rad Modifications / Re: Throttle disconnect kit

What model allows throttle disconnect via controller settings?

The 35A controller and KT display sold by Area13 and BigGameBikes lets you do this.

Phenomenal!

Are the G062s still available for purchase?

No plate/tax/insurance, it's still a bicycle.

I disabled the 6kph walk mode. Current legislation in Ireland does not stipulate max power level, only that pedalling is required, otherwise it's classed as a "mechanically propelled vehicle" under the Road Traffic Act.

That said, there are new regs in the pipeline to bring Irish law in line with the rest of the EU. That will limit max output to 250W.

The EU controller is fine, up to the 25kmh limit. the motor is the same as the NA model, and produces the same 90nm of torque.

Assembly just involved attaching the front wheel and adjusting the handlebar. It's a simple DIY job, though any bike shop should be able to help if you need it.

They're geared hub motors, so you can't regen when you freewheel (unlike the direct drive motors in the Radcity)
