Replacement Seat
« on: January 14, 2021, 04:39:24 PM »
I’m sure this topic had been brought up before BUT. I’m a 75 year male and I weight just under 200 pounds. I have a RadRover ST and the seat is painful. I purchased the sun tour seat post and would like to replace the seat. SUGGESTIONS?

You just need more miles on the saddle, it will accomplish 2 things.  Your ass will toughen up and you will lose weight.

I’m in my 60s.  Tried a cloud 9, returned it and pleased with the extra wide YLG on Amazon.  Mostly street cruising.

I went with Cloud 9 XL and it works for me. I got the one with the crouch vent for cooling effect ;)

The Cloud 9 Cruiser seat is not a smooth swap on the RadRover due to the fact that the mounting hardware on the C9 is slightly wider than receiving hardware on the RR. You have to use a vise or some other method to narrow the seat mounting hardware slightly to fit. The C9 seat is really meant to mount straight to the post but can’t do it on the stock RR seat post. You can make it work on the RR but you’re gonna have to do some work. Know what you’re getting into!

The YLG was my third and final try and was way more comfortable than the stock Rad seat.

I got a Bikeroo saddle seat for my Wife’s radrover. Still have the original seat on mine for now. I do like the Cloud 9 seats as well.

I just installed a Cloud 9 Suspension Cruiser Saddle, Cruiser Gel, Tri-color Black from Amazon.  The rails were about 1/16" too wide for the Rad Rover seat clamp.  I just used a large C clamp to hold rails a little closer together while installing the Rad Rover clamp.  Wasn't much of an issue and really like the new saddle.

I have the radrunner plus, which has a less than impressive seat. I opted for a GRM replacement seat and DJC seat post from amazon. Totally comfortable with this combo.

I just installed the Cloud 9 seat but haven't test drove it yet. Anything is better than the shipped with seat. After 8 miles I was numb and lord knows I don't need anything else making me numb there! Looking forward to my next ride to test the comfort.

Hello - Just joining the forum as I await my RR Step through in October!!  Yikes.    Regarding seats, I have used this one for about 15 years now, with one replacement for wear during that time.  I will see if it fits the Rad when it arrives and if not I might have to go with one of the other suggestions in the thread.  I will say that for me this seat eliminated all the saddle sore experiences I have had with any previous seat.

What about the Selle Royal Drifter? Any experience with this seat?
