I don't believe they shouldn't.  They clearly state 12 months.  It is very unfortunate, most of us SAVE for the original purchase.  Those long range costs are part of the deal.  Sorry.  There are options, none unfortunately are free...

RadRunner / Re: Chain slipping while pedaling hard
August 23, 2022, 07:36:23 AM
Grinding/slipping are alignment issues.  I had to do an "on the road" adjustment when I couldn't get into 1st gear. 1/4 turn on the bottom end adjuster & I was set.  There are a nice set of RPB instruction documents on shifting adjustment.  Look in their documents section.

Now, you've been banging that chain.  It is not in-destructible!!!  Check for bent, clawed, rough links...that is one thing that's a warranty item.  Don't let them charge you for a new one!!!

Service & Repair / Re: SAE or Metric

I prefer the "long" with rounded tips.  They work very nice.  You'll see Pro's using T handle Allen Wrenches.  If you can get to that price point, go for it!   Then Harbor Freight changes to Park Tools.   LOL  Happy wrenching!

Unfortunately day 366 is "to bad, so sad, your battery is dead"... "Ding Dong the Witch is dead" is stuck in my head.  LOL

I've found Gareth at biggamebikes dot com offers battery repair, and very reasonable.  contact him...  He's a great guy to work with.

By the time I was done, it was ~90 minutes, while being very frustrated...I was tired.  I'm going to "open this box" again today...  Exactly "stupid" is a NEVER word!  Doing IT support for 30+ years crap like that is just DUH!
Their "log" has every name and the text of the voice interaction, no chances to hide!

Thanks for the support.  I've been a RPB customer and folks bend sideways to help with problems.  Just this past Saturday I found I'd double ordered a  product.  The guy called the warehouse/distribution center and had the item removed.  That's my expectation of RPB customer service!

Here's Google Translates' version of this person's question:

I want to buy a box to protect my battery when traveling I have a rad 5 electric bike

RAD has little (NO) sympathy for out of warranty stuff!   Well isn't that all worn out, wouldn't you like a NEW what ever.  Batteries are good for ~1000 full charge cycles.  I bet you're close.  One cell out of spec & it stops.  That's the wonder or LiIO Technology.  I'd get a new one.  They consider 1yr + batteries a consumable, just like brake pads or tires.

Take your self on a learning adventure and rebuild the old / dead one.  There are THOUSANDS of YouTube video's on LiIO battery, repair, troubleshooting, components, and how to build a new one.  If you use better cells, you'll get 2+ years from the rebuilt one.

Sorry I keep digging, biggamebikes does offer a battery referb option.  Email them...

You're still gonna have to buy one.

Enjoy your adventure, they don't care...

A lot is on my profile.  I'm a retired IT Guy.  Profiles are made to be filled out!  NETWORKING.   LOL

I'm on my 2nd Rad Ride.  My RW4 was stolen 03/2022 in Cedar Rapids, IA... where I live.

I've had my new RadRunner Plus, 2 weeks now, and I must say, for me it is is much better "fit" as in FIT and fit for me.  I thought the "plus" package was a good value.  The special packages, na, not so much!  No combination it'd want.  I did get in on a bunch of the accessories on sale.

I'm into many many things, animal husbandry, antique tractors, fiber arts (not the optical kind).  I spin wool into yarn, I weave cloth too. I've got 2 Ender3 (Pro and V.2) 3D printers.  I run all my IT stuff off different versions of the Raspberry Pi computer.  Even my Desktop!  Pi 4b - 8GB running Pi OS 64bit.  My other IT stuff is exclusively HP.

I have many 21st, 20th, 19th and 18th century spinning wheels.  It is a process that's as old as man.  Wanted cloth (ok not a hide), you had to spin & then weave the fibers...  All of Erickson's and Columbus' sails were hand spun and hand woven.  So were the Nippon sailors that inhabited Peru.

I'm a geek, nerd.  I started working on tractors when I was 4 years old.  I know stuff, I problem solve, I turn the orange light green. Oldest Child...

Nice to meet you all!

Rad keeps their true/real technical specifications very tight.  They will barely tell you the size of a nut!  Really I wanted to get a HexLox system.  They offered NO LIST, and I had to measure each one myself.  A real PIA.

I tried to talk to someone just today on the support line.  I forgot it was "noon in Seattle" and waited 35 minutes on my 1st hold.  That person made the comment about my inquiry on an extra battery "as just strange"  she said it twice!  Then she denied saying it...After another 10 minute hold, I got some guy, he was even pissier.  I'm a life long Iowan, I've done tier 1-5 IT Systems support.  I'm a nice guy.  The guy said they probably wouldn't even sell me a battery since they had my "non-specification" use of their equipment, in the call log.  I asked for a Supervisor... CLICK!   I asked for a call back from a sales supervisor, 5 hours.... we'll seee about tomorrow.  Battery mounts are a defect replacement ONLY.  Not an order-able item!

I've been working with these folks 2 years, 2 bikes, never a snort & getting 2 AH's in the same call I just wanna scream!

I got a battery from Gareth at Biggamebikes.com.  He's in the UK, but batteries are DIRECT SHIPPED to you for free.  Not the extra $100 Rad tacks on...  He's good, smart, growing... email him, say Joel in Iowa sent you!   He also sells the "magic" don't blow up your battery DATEX devices.

Batteries are a wild place to play.  You don't need to be an EE, you just need to watch YouTubes and read articles.   GOOD LUCK, keep in touch!

Rad Modifications / Re: My Comuter/Grocery Getter

I just got my RadRunner Plus.  I thought the "Plus" things made a good combination.  Now their 3 special bundles...NFW.  They look like a racket!  I'm spending about the same $2K getting mostly what I want.  I found out the "large platform" is too big for my elevator. BUMMER.  I see what dimensions the "Large Basket" has.  That may work...or it will go back.

I'm still getting my battery tuned, but still that range had got to improve.
I'm thinking about a "solar road trailer"... using a Burley Flatbed Cargo Trailer.  It's $299 local shop, so I'll look around.   There's a YouTube guy that built an Arduino control for his ridged pannel with a light sensor, to follow the sun as it goes.  That's cool.  I'd add a DATEX-3, and add a big hand built cube, or some off the shelf retail units.  That's a few years away.

Good luck to you.  Did you post your stl to Thingiverse? what's the item # on the Amazonian thing. :)

Thank you!

I'm in Cedar Rapids, IA.  River bank topography, with some limestone outcroppings.  I'm 220, have a new RadRunner Plus.  I'm doing the full draw on the battery the first couple times.  It's a virgin. I'm nearing 100 miles.  We'll see.  Support at RPB was just crappy & RUDE when I asked about a multi battery setup.  We might not even "ever" sell you a battery... WTF?   I'd never seen such FUBAR customer service.  Especially in the 2 years I've worked with Rad.  I had a RW4 (stolen 04/2022)

Who's gone there, done that?  I just find a single battery range in my metro area won't cut it.  I keep it on assist "1". 20-25 miles is my experienced range.  That 30 mile loop sucked! ... LOL

I've talked to the guy at biggamebikes.com, he sells the DATEX devices that do "power balance magic".  He has good batteries, China generics, they come with a mount & charger - shipped direct.  He's a good guy.

I've found RadPower battery mounting plates on Thingiverse.com to 3D print. Guys have taken the time to measure, test, and post (to the public domain) their works.

Just wondering who's thinking the same?

This is a wonderful list!  Can you get it pinned?

I myself was just working on a list (or search) it may change daily.

Add on, mods, useful things available to the 3D printing community.  I use thingiverse.com a lot.  It is a public domain HUGE collection of 3D files.

There are 20+ on there one might find useful.  Two search strings bring up most things "radpower" and "rad power".

I've downloaded the ones that will probably fit my needs.  There are 10's of other repositories free like Thingiverse, and not...  Happy Hunting!

RadRunner / Re: Radrunner or Radrunner Plus
August 22, 2022, 04:04:39 PM
It is entirely numbers (and paint color).  Add up the cost of those accessories (not including their 3 "to go kits") and the Plus is a deal!  If you're a purist and really have no NEED for any of those things.  Add them later, save $400 ... I've already added an additional $400 to mine... LOL

I had my RW4 stolen in 4/2022.  It was gangally, hard to balance for me.  This thing in the "utility" classification, has better balance, fat tires, front suspension, (I'm adding the better seat & seat post)

I find it interesting the only place for the tire PSI is on the tires.  NOT MENTIONED in the manuals.  30 PSI BTW.  It is ~8" shorter than the RW4.  More of a Colorado, than a Silverado!

I have some other ideas to discuss.  Those are my suggestions.  OH BTW, I'm in Iowa, USA.  I ordered it on Thursday evening...I had it Tuesday Noon!  Supply isn't an issue (this week)   Good Luck!
