General Chat / Re: Tannus Armour Flattened

Santacuzpaul I also run Origin8 Super Cell 30 TPI tires  I really like the tires run smooth and quiet but they have no puncture resistance. I would at least install Flat Out and cross your fingers for luck. I have had 2 tire punctures, 1 the first day I installed the Armours before they had a chance to flatten out and they saved me from getting a flat. Then 1 on May 18th the day my bike was one year old. When I repaired that flat tire is when I found out my Armour had flattened out.  Both punctures put small cuts in the thin tire carcass. If I didn't have the Armour in the tires I think the tubes would make the cuts larger and the tubes would pop thru the tires.

UPDATE. I knew I read it somewhere, so I got out my Tannus installation guide and on page 3 under Tips For Installing Tannus Armour it states (It is common for the Amour to compress over time. It still is providing shock absorption and puncture resistance but will perform better when properly maintained. To minimize compression deflate the tires while not use. This allows the Armour compound to rebound to provide ideal performance.) So does that mean when your not riding your bike, your suppose to let the air out of the tires? I'm sorry but that's not happening. I don't know how everyone else feels, but if I would have known that earlier, I would not have purchased the Armours.

I had the same thing happen to me. After seeing the tannus armour flattened out, I think they suck.  I'm going to install Mr. tuffy liners between the tire and the flattened tannus and put flat out in the tubes.   My tannus are only about 10 months old.

Eric7, To clarify what your explaining about the steer tube extender. You use a hex wrench (allen wrench) to tighten the hex bolt (socket cap screw). The hex bolt has a threaded hole beneath the hex shaped hole in the head of the bolt, to insert a bolt to preload the stem bearings. Is that correct.

I would give those tires a try, they look good to me

I've got the bolton controller on the work bench. Nine  more days and warranty is over and the new controller should fix the problem.

I have had that same problem for just about a year now. Since new May 18th 2021 on my Rad Rover ST2. My fix has been when it happens, I pedal backwards a couple revolutions and then forward again and it takes right off. Try that next time it happens and let me know if that fixes it. Reply to this add again. Thanks Russ

Try taking the weight off the rear rake and see if the wobble goes away. I have a Rad Rover ST1 and when I carry my spare battery in a bag on my rear rack I get the dreaded death wobble, but when I'm not packing the spare battery there's no wobble and I can ride no hands then.  Citizen cycle mentioned that his Rover started to wobble when he added weight to his bike also.

Yes but rad dosen't have a  threaded steertube and the Quill type won't tighten the steer tube bearings.

Eric7, I'm wondering how the fork bearings will be tightened up if and when you might install the steering tube extension. It's to bad that the steer tube isn't longer.

Good job murfman I knew you could do it. Next time it will be easier. Just remember to watch for the falling parts. You'll need them!

I installed one of the Delta Risers on my RRST. It works great. They sell 2 different lengths, I got the taller one worked great for me.
