JimInPT,
Thanks for posting. Do you know if you can mount a light to the rack of the RR6? I mean being able to connect it like the previous models. If not they really screwed that up. I guess you could mount a little kiddy license plate with your name on it.

Don't know; they haven't shipped any bikes or racks yet.  However, I got one of these and absolutely love it - long battery life in quick-flash mode and except for charging I never have to touch it since it's motion-sensitive.  Very bright even in daylight; hung it under the seat strapped to the spring assembly, it flashes along with my MiniST's flashing rear light.  It's much better than you'd expect for the price.

We just received out Hollywood rack and plan to travel cross country with 2 Rad Rovers.  With respect to rain and the electronics should we be covering these bikes with something? Thoughts, ideas?
Driving a Buick Enclave, hope this all works!

If you're going that far, I think you should definitely remove the batteries to save weight bouncing out there in the wind and protect them, but then install plastic covers on both the battery and mount electrical terminals (see eBay for these).  You should also buy a quality cover to keep out dust and rain and maybe help deter theft - use one of those big elastic cargo nets on top to keep it from flapping in the wind.

You may need to add auxiliary light/turn signals if visibility is blocked by the wrapped-up bikes (I bought these and they're pretty nice, but bungee them down and don't rely on the magnets alone:  https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XKB5FBQ ).  Don't forget to lock the rack to your car frame as well as locking the bikes to the rack for a trip that long with overnight stops.

Here is a great carrying/storage bag that happens to fit Rad batteries like a glove:  https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001441IHU

Service & Repair / Abus 5650l nr & 5750l nr frame locks
« Last post by Jimws on August 04, 2021, 07:05:55 PM »
I like the idea of the Abus frame lock however I was unable to find  5650l nr anywhere on the net.  Checking the specs on both locks they appeared to be similar.  I also spoke w/the US Abus rep & he verified the fastening  dimensions for both locks was the same.

I purchased the 5750l nr & installed it on my radcity step thru.  I needed to remove the rear wheel & slightly file both top slotted holes to mount the lock.  Easy installation, looks good, it fits & operates perfectly.

Service & Repair / Re: Bike won’t turn on

I've now replaced the main wiring harness and the controller. Bike will still not power up. RPB support wants to replace the battery. I'm thinking its a switch problem. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.

RadRover / bolton 35a controller headlight circuit failure...
« Last post by wkindred on August 04, 2021, 12:22:28 PM »

we had our first issue with a bolton 35a controller last night. a group of us were riding with full lights on a little after 11 p.m. when one of the riders had his rad premium headlight do a slight flicker then went completely dark. we were unable to reset his headlight for the remainder of our ride and assumed the headlight had failed. we swapped headlights with another rad premium headlight but still no joy. we metered the headlight connection on the failed bolton 35a controller and it currently reads 5v when active...not good! any suggestions?

RadRover / RadRover 6 Plus
« Last post by bikemoto on August 04, 2021, 10:54:03 AM »
I have a RadRover 5. I did the Bolton upgrade on the controller, Bafang motor and hydraulic brake calipers. The controller comes with a 35A controller and upgraded color display. The motor, rated at 750w had more torque for hills.

Has anyone seen the new RadRover 6 Plus?  The $2000 bike seems to be configured with similar specs as the Bolton upgrades. The other difference is the integrated fitting battery.
