2 different workers at the local ebike shop said they'd be fine for the Kenda 3.3 tires on the RadrunnerPlus.  It looked pretty skinny compared to the one I pulled out when I inflated it before putting it in the tire, but it seemed to seat the bead well enough at less than 10 psi and and held tight when I filled it to 30psi.  I'm hoping it won't burst on the first pothole I hit, but BMX tubes are made pretty tough, right?

Any words of wisdom or warnings before I take the bike for a ride?

The only marking on the bag is "Benno RemiDemi tube 20 x 3.25".

General Chat / Any other headlights Rad compatible?
June 20, 2023, 05:51:21 PM
My premium headlight did its usual moving towards the sky and i did the usual push it back down and today the plastic mount on the bottom snapped.  Do any other lights out there have the same connector/mount/power consumption?  I don't want to splice wires if possible since my bike sits out in the rain when I'm at work.

Does anyone know the power consumption?

Can I just unplug it and use battery bike lights?

I'm used to vintage 2 stroke mopeds and if you run those without a headlight, all the other bulbs will blow out. Will running without a headlight overload other components on the RadRunner+ ?  I'm assuming no, since you can turn it off, but I just wanted to make sure.

General Chat / Let's talk about battery fires
March 06, 2023, 07:35:48 PM
This seems to be in the news a lot recently, NYC fire dept. said there were 400 fires last year caused by ebike batteries.  Anyone here ever have this happen, Rad or any other brand?  It is just from people forgetting to disconnect from the charger once the battery is recharged?  I always plug my charger into a timer in case I forget about it.

I bought new pads once I went over 500 miles, but the old ones didn't look much thinner than the new ones when I took things apart, just eyeballing, no micrometer measurements. I'm just wondering what the average lifespan is.

And Rad bikes use resin pads, right, not sintered?  I'm new to disc brakes.

General Chat / Do your brake levers ever buzz/hum?
July 22, 2022, 05:46:46 PM
I just noticed today that when I'm moving, my brake lever was making a buzzing/fast ticking sound, but it doesn't happen if the bike is stopped.  I usually ride with a small USB speaker for my kid on the back, but today I didn't use it so I'm not sure if it has always made the sound, or if it's something that just started happening.  It seemed like the front lever did it every time I used it, and the rear one only did it a few times? It's a Rad Runner Plus, just over a year old.

General Chat / HubSink motor cooling fins
April 05, 2022, 10:09:38 AM
Anyone here try these, or even know if they would fit on Rad bikes?  I'm not sure what style/size motor is used on the Rad Runner Plus.  Seems like they might be helpful climbing hills while carrying passengers.  What is a bigger cause of Ebike death, motor overheating or controller overheating?  I got a whiff of hot plastic smell while going up a hill the other day, and I remembered seeing this a while ago.

RadRunner / rear wheel axle size?
February 05, 2022, 05:10:41 PM
I want to get the pinhead wheel locks, is it M9, M10, or M12?
Thanks

In case you never click on the RadRunner forum, there is a thread with 3 different people (so far) whose front wheel came off the bike while riding it.   One of them said the quick release skewer snapped.  Has anyone else had this happen on a different Rad bike?

The manual says recharge after every ride, but I've seen on here that the battery can only take so many recharge cycles (500 ish?) before it dies.
My daily ride is just over 8 miles, 3 days a week, should I just recharge once a week?  I mostly use the throttle, pedaling from stops and up bigger hills, just enough to use 1 bar on the display when I'm almost home.

General Chat / Riding on hot days
July 25, 2021, 08:34:22 AM
Looks like it's going to be another week of over 90f days.  How hot is too hot in regards to battery function/life?   I'm lucky that I can park my bike inside while I'm at work, but will a 20 minute ride home in the heat at 4pm up a few big hills cause any problems?  I don't mind being hot, I just soak my shirt in cold water before I leave, I just don't want to ruin my new bike.

Hello,
Just finishing up assembly of the Rad Runner Plus, and I noticed something odd.   The front fender mounting point at the bottom of the fork on the right side is angled back towards the rear of the bike, while the left side mount is parallel to the axle.  Is this on purpose for clearance of the brakes, or did it maybe get turned a bit in transit?  Just wanted to check before I torque it down.

I saw the fender mounts are bolted into the fork bottom, but they look just like oil drain bolts for motorcycle forks, are the forks hydraulic oil filled?  I didn't want to loosen it and end up with oil all over the floor.

thanks
