Looks great! Can't wait to get mine. How is the seat? Is it comfy? If not, I will have to go with the Cloud 9 or other more padded one.

Thanks! RAD on Dude!!
The seat is OK, it kinda has bumps just under your butt bones. My cloud 9 on my other bike feels better. This one is good for tooling around town, but longer distances a C9 would be better

General Chat / First ride on the new Radrover 5
August 25, 2020, 02:11:58 PM
Well after about 7 weeks my new Radrover 5 arrived today in Illinois. The bow was in great shape and all the contents were safe and in order. First thing I did after the unboxing procedure was check the rotors. Both were perfect.. then I went ahead and tightened the spokes about 1/4 turn per wheel.
The assembly went smooth, except I mounted the handle bars on with the front fork facing rearward as shipped.  Changed that out and all was good.
The disk brake gap was spot on and the only adjustment was to the cable to allow for the brake lever to come back about 1/3 before engaging. It was set at almost instant engage and I didnt like that.
The battery was fully charged when shipped and the digital display was set and everything electrical was working perfect. The gears shifted very smooth with no problems overriding the top or bottom gears. The throttle was butter smooth and worked perfect. I took it for about 8 miles and went through the gears and throttle. I am very impressed. It went way above expectations. It is addictive..
I mounted my seat post rack, rack bag and bar end mirror and a phone mount and I am very pleased.  I thought the motor ran very quiet and had not cliches so far.,. attached is a couple of pics at the local Starbucks.

Hello, I have ordered the Ibera touring carrier plus rear bike rack for my Rad Rover 5. I have been looking for panniers and noticed in the section for rad bike accessories started by Ryan, it lists the Roswell 14892 3 in 1 panniers. I noticed the panniers are connected together by a 5" strip.  I was wondering if anyone knew if this would fit over the width ( which I do not know) of the rack of the Ibera carrier top?

THe name of the platform I was referring to is Rola convoy 2, $270 from e-trailer

I also have the Convoy 2 and am very impressed with its ease of use and it is very heavy duty..the tilt back feature helps with access to hatchbacks or tail gates on trucks. It is heavy so I usually leave it folded and leave it on the truck most of the time.

Hello, I am new to Ebikes myself, so for me to tell you which bike is best for you may not work. However I do believe that Rad has wonderful customer support and when you need a part, they ship fast. Some of the other companies are not as reliable in that department because they ship from a big warehouse somewhere in the states but their HQ is in another country. Also Rad has many different bike options that may suit your needs, age, strength or slight handicaps you may have.
You stated you were 65 and have bad knees. This to me would indicate you would likely have trouble loading/unloading a 50-70 lb ebike by yourself. also a heavy bike is not like lifting a barbell. With bikes you have your hands and arms in awkward positions and its hard to get the bike in close to your body to get leverage. A standard platform style hitch mount bike rack will likely not support a heavy ebike. So a search for the proper bike rack may be just as important has the bike itself.
Now comes my suggestion... if you are only hauling one bicycle to a beach location and you are doing it either once a season or back and forth numerous times you would need a rack that allows you to easily load and unload a heavy bike. I ride small dirt bike motorcycles that weigh around 250 lbs. There are numerous hitch style bike racks on the market that accept motorcycles with up to 5" tires that have a loading ramp that mounts to the rear to load and to the front to unload. So with this option you could use the power of the ebike to put the bike up the ramp and onto the platform... just like with a dirt bike.. you then secure the bike with ratchet straps and make it very secure..The wheel base of most dirt bikes are around 58", so the Rads at around 45" will fit just fine. Best way is to do an internet search for dirt bike carrier racks, I think the ones with the solid platform channel are better at loading than the ones with numerous pipes running width ways, but check out both styles as one may suit your needs better. Good luck in your choice.. this is just a suggestion to allow you to make transporting your bike almost as enjoyable as riding one.

Yes, you can easily paddle on radover e-bike at 3 with motor at 2 and 3 and it moves so smooth. Whereas i will suggest you to look at Boomerbeast 2 electric motorcycle as this bike is also very comfortable and the quality is best.
Thank you for your response. Very helpful. I have a Radrover and a Rad City currently on order. Hopefully sometime in August..

Just test rode the 5 and ST1 yesterday and played with just this very question. Found that at PAS2 or 3 in 3rd gear, the speed was around 11-13 mph. Figure that it depends on the grade and the terrain?
Thats what I was hoping to hear... Actually my normal speed around town is about 10-11 mph not 8,....so your answers are spot on.. Thanks all for your responses...happy trails

General Chat / ebike speed when pedaling
July 16, 2020, 10:44:53 AM
Hello, I don't have an ebike yet, still on order but I have a question hopefully you can help. On a Radrover ebike, if I'm riding around town and want to travel lets say at 8 mph and just meander around and I set the gearing at 3 and the motor at 2 or even 3, can I pedal easily at 8 mph or will the motor try to push me along at a much higher speed then I want to travel?  I thought maybe this was what the Cadence sensor was for to adjust the power based on how fast you want to pedal, is this correct also??
Thank you...

General Chat / 2020 Rad Rover 5 throttle question
July 14, 2020, 07:11:21 PM
Hello, I currently have a new Rad Rover 5 on order and a City step through ordered for my wife. While looking at older pictures of 2018 and older I noticed they had throttle off/On Button. I noticed the newer ones did not. My question is, my wife may want to learn to ride first w/o the throttle (afraid she may accidentally turn it on) , is there a way on the new bikes to disconnect the throttle temporarily ? Thank you.. Dan B

Hello, I am Dan and I live in East Central Illinois. I have recently purchased two Rad ebikes, one a Rad Rover 5 and the 2nd a step through city.
I am still on the  back order list but should get the bikes sometime in August.\
Did a lot of research and decided on Rad after the number of positive comments regarding customer support.
