General Chat / Anyone using Slime
September 29, 2020, 12:50:53 PM
Anyone using slime in their fat bike tires to avoid punctures? Does it help or just hype.. Also would you recommend tuffie liners and the use of slime? I ride some on limestone trails and the small rocks have sharp points which have punctured my cruiser bikes tires..

General Chat / New Rad city ST arrived
September 16, 2020, 12:39:40 PM
New Rad city ST arrived yesterday. Spend about 2 hours this am putting it together, tightening the spokes and adjusting the brake pads and levers. The shipping went well with no damage found. The tires were low and needed inflated. The only issue on the test ride was it had difficulty shifting from 7th to 6th. The remainder is a little chatty. I will check out the adjustment video and hopefully get the problem resolved. It does shift and feel much different than my Rad Rover. It has little rolling resistance but a little harsher ride. My wife loves the white color of her new bike

Got my new Radrover the other day and after about 50 miles noticed a clicking noise that sounded like it was coming from the controller area, but also sounded like towards the front. It would happen when I was pedaling or not. I would happen with throttle only or not. It would happen with suspension locked or not. It would happen with the battery off or not. The clicking noise did not sound like spokes though.. but I tightened them anyway, first a 1/4 then another 1/4 but the noise was still there. The noise would happen over cracks and bumps in road but sometimes on very smooth road.
Then I decided to stand up on the bike and use the throttle, when this was done the noise would stop. When I would sit down the noise would start. I then determined that I had adjusted the seat and that little locking lever was to close to the post when locked so when I would hit a bump or adjust my weight the post would flex enough to strike the lever. When I moved the lever away from the post the noise was gone. Moral of story is check everything.

General Chat / First ride on the new Radrover 5
August 25, 2020, 02:11:58 PM
Well after about 7 weeks my new Radrover 5 arrived today in Illinois. The bow was in great shape and all the contents were safe and in order. First thing I did after the unboxing procedure was check the rotors. Both were perfect.. then I went ahead and tightened the spokes about 1/4 turn per wheel.
The assembly went smooth, except I mounted the handle bars on with the front fork facing rearward as shipped.  Changed that out and all was good.
The disk brake gap was spot on and the only adjustment was to the cable to allow for the brake lever to come back about 1/3 before engaging. It was set at almost instant engage and I didnt like that.
The battery was fully charged when shipped and the digital display was set and everything electrical was working perfect. The gears shifted very smooth with no problems overriding the top or bottom gears. The throttle was butter smooth and worked perfect. I took it for about 8 miles and went through the gears and throttle. I am very impressed. It went way above expectations. It is addictive..
I mounted my seat post rack, rack bag and bar end mirror and a phone mount and I am very pleased.  I thought the motor ran very quiet and had not cliches so far.,. attached is a couple of pics at the local Starbucks.

Hello, I have ordered the Ibera touring carrier plus rear bike rack for my Rad Rover 5. I have been looking for panniers and noticed in the section for rad bike accessories started by Ryan, it lists the Roswell 14892 3 in 1 panniers. I noticed the panniers are connected together by a 5" strip.  I was wondering if anyone knew if this would fit over the width ( which I do not know) of the rack of the Ibera carrier top?

General Chat / ebike speed when pedaling
July 16, 2020, 10:44:53 AM
Hello, I don't have an ebike yet, still on order but I have a question hopefully you can help. On a Radrover ebike, if I'm riding around town and want to travel lets say at 8 mph and just meander around and I set the gearing at 3 and the motor at 2 or even 3, can I pedal easily at 8 mph or will the motor try to push me along at a much higher speed then I want to travel?  I thought maybe this was what the Cadence sensor was for to adjust the power based on how fast you want to pedal, is this correct also??
Thank you...

General Chat / 2020 Rad Rover 5 throttle question
July 14, 2020, 07:11:21 PM
Hello, I currently have a new Rad Rover 5 on order and a City step through ordered for my wife. While looking at older pictures of 2018 and older I noticed they had throttle off/On Button. I noticed the newer ones did not. My question is, my wife may want to learn to ride first w/o the throttle (afraid she may accidentally turn it on) , is there a way on the new bikes to disconnect the throttle temporarily ? Thank you.. Dan B
